The hindrance to growing in grace, is the temptation to imitate others rather than becoming who God uniquely made you to be whether that's copying "the world" or even copying other Christians and ministers. Believers are to resist worldly conformity (1 John 2:15 and James 4:4) while also ministers specifically are not to model themselves after someone else's calling. The image of small clues "little foxes" and blowing leaves argues that subtle, small compromises with worldly values reveal a person's true spiritual direction long before anything dramatic happens. Yielding to the call to full devotion, sensitivity to God's leading, and lives out one's own distinct purpose.
In conclusion, comparison might be one of the sneakiest hindrances to growth, the pressure to look like everyone else, whether that's the world's standards or even someone else's version of faith. Believers must live a simple life but with freeing challenges: stop copying, start becoming who you were actually called to be.
