*DIVINE WISDOM FOR LONGEVITY*

SCRIPTURE REFERENCE:
Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many
PROVERBS 4:10

We discover from scripture that there is a connection between wisdom and long life. It is true that long life travels in the direction of wisdom. For the wiser you are the longer you live (JOB 12:12). Long life does not answer to struggles; education; intelligence or money, rather, it answers to wisdom. The wisdom of God is an important key for longevity. You can engage the power of wisdom for long life.
The doctors may say, you need vitamin; they may say you need exercises; vegetables or organic food but what you need is the wisdom of God.

Dearly beloved, there are wisdom tips that will help you to live long. So what then is divine wisdom? Divine wisdom is wisdom from God. It comes from above (JAMES 3 : 17 -18). Divine wisdom is knowing the scriptural things to do at every cross road of life (ECCLESIASTES 10 : 15). Not knowing the scriptural things to do at the crossroad of life is called foolishness. You cannot afford to be foolish. Knowing the scriptural things to do at every crossroad of life and doing it, is what we call wisdom (JOHN 6:5-6; MATTHEW 7:24). Knowledge of what to do and doing it at any given time is the game changer. The bible reveals that Jesus knew in himself what He must do to salvage an embarrassing situation of feeding 5000 hungry men excluding women and children. Jesus was a winner because he engaged the power of wisdom. You too can live long by engaging scriptural tips for longevity

*FOLLOWING DIVINE INSTRUCTION*

SCRIPTURE REFERENCE:
Take fast hold of instruction; let [her] not go: keep her; for she [is] thy life.
PROVERBS 4:13

Many of God’s people have become victims of adverse circumstance because of the failure to follow a simple instruction from God. Listen to me people of God, the difference between life and death; lack and abundance, success and failure might just be a simple instruction (PROVERBS 8 : 33).

The reason many are frustrated in life or ministry is not because they lack vision, skill, intelligence or resources; they are frustrated because they lack instruction. The absence of divine instruction is the presence of human frustration. Most times the difference in the season of your life is following an instruction from God. Be wise!

There is great wisdom in following a divine instruction (PROVERBS 6 : 23). A wise man once said “The world will only hear those who hear from God”. Until you give attention to God’s instruction, the world will not pay any attention to you. It is those who hold onto His commandments that becomes commanders. The instruction you follow will determine your relevance in the kingdom of God.

Get this now: the Bible is God’s instruction manual for a successful Christian life (2 TIMOTHY 3: 16 - 17). The Bible is God’s instruction bank for a life of peace, victory, prosperity and health, following it will make a great difference in your life. Therefore, go for it!

*DO THE WORK OF AN EVANGELIST*

SCRIPTURE REFERENCE:
But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. 2 TIMOTHY 4 : 5

The work of an evangelist is so crucial in the advancement of the kingdom of God today. Sadly, a lot of God’s people shy away from this all-important task of preaching the Gospel.

In our scripture reference, Paul the Apostle was admonishing his son in the faith, Timothy to do the work of an evangelist. This is so instructive because, God is also speaking to you reading this today; whether you are a bishop, clergy, priest, pastor, Apostle, prophet, teacher or lay man, as long as you are a child of God, “Do the work of an evangelist”. No matter the title attached to your name, no matter your position in church, no matter your academic qualification or social status the word of God is saying to you; do the work of an evangelist. Could it be that the spirit of God is bringing our attention back to the work of evangelism because we have neglected it? So many have abandoned this work only to a selected few; that is not the will of God. You might not be called into the office of the evangelist (ACTS 21:8; EPHESIANS 4:11), however, you can do the work of an evangelist. Don’t be found doing the wrong work. What work have you been doing? Don’t be found doing your own work or another man’s work. Do the work He tells you to do (JOHN 2:5).

The work of an evangelist is preaching and proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ to a dying world. It is active and effective soul winning. It is strategic and systematic evangelism. It is taking the gospel outside to where the sinners are. It is doing it with a passion and by every biblical means at our disposal. There is a great blessing in doing the work commanded by God for you to do (JAMES 1 : 25). Beloved, do the work of an evangelist.

*THE IMPORTANCE OF PERSISTENT PRAYER III*

SCRIPTURE REFERENCE:
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. HEBREWS 4 : 16

As we conclude this meditation today, why is persistent prayer so important in the life of a child of God?

*Finally, persistent prayer is important because it guarantees continuous refinement of life and character (LUKE 22 : 45 - 46).* Persistence in prayer is key to divine immunity and security of life and character for anyone who will engage in it. Hear what the master says “..rise and pray, lest you enter into temptation”. Many will proudly testify about how God delivered them from temptation, however, it is better not to enter into it in the first place. Constant prayer will secure your life and character. Engage it! Engage it now!!!

Now, how can we engage in persistent prayer in order to deliver the result?

*Firstly, pray passionately and fervently (JAMES 4 : 16 - 18).* How can your prayer touch God, when it has not touched you? Passion is the fuel for spiritual fire. It will take passion to sustain your persistence in anything you do. To be fervent means to be extremely hot (ROMANS 12 : 11). It becomes impossible for you not to pray when something is burning on the inside. Be passionate.

*Secondly, pray persistently, this means you should pray until something happens (LUKE 18 : 1; Acts 12 : 16).* It means to be dogged and rugged. It means to never give up. It means to never lose your grip until what you griped is yours.
*Lastly, pray with the spirit of a fighter (MATTHEW 11:12).* Be a lion in prayer. For it will take a lion heart to get the lion share. Engage it as a fighter and you will always win. Persistence in prayer will give you speedy answers.

*THE NEED FOR PERSISTENCE IN PRAYER II*

SCRIPTURE REFERENCE:
For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. 1 THESSALONIANS 5 : 17

Christianity is a call to prayer without ceasing. Prayer is compulsory for every believer. In fact, inconsistency in payer is a state of spiritual emergency for any child of God. Prayer for a Christian is not an option, advice or a suggestion rather it is a command.
Beloved, to persist in prayer means to never quit, faint or give up until you can hold the answer in your hands.

Today, let us consider another importance of persistence in prayer.

*Persistence in prayer is important because it guarantees transformation of destiny and identity (GENESIS 32 : 24 - 28).* Listen to me people of God, if the story must not remain the same, then this kind of prayer must be engaged. The results must not remain the same. Don’t tolerate the circumstance rather change it. Don’t let the status-quo define you. Things must change in this season. Let us arise to this task for many destinies are at stake.

Thirdly, why is persistent prayer so important? *Persistent prayer is important because it is the secret code for continuous access to divine guidance (ISAIAH 58 : 6, 11).* Continual prayer give access to continual guidance. Nothing can beat this. When you pray, God is committed to showing you the way (JEREMIAH 33:3). There is a place called “there” for everyone, and divine guidance is needed to get “there”. There is an instruction and a voice for everyday but you will require divine guidance to access them. Listen, one wrong step can ruin your destiny. Seek divine guidance through continuous prayer. The next step to take is at the mercy of your consistency in prayer. If you are too big to pray, then things will be too big to be revealed to you.

*THE NEED FOR PERSISTENCE IN PRAYER*

SCRIPTURE REFERENCE:
And he spake a parable unto them [to this end], that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; LUKE 18 : 1

Today, I begin our meditation on the importance of persistent prayer. Prayer is not something we do occasionally, it is what we must do always (LUKE 18: 1). Prayer is fellowship with the father in the name of the Lord Jesus. Prayer is what breathing is to a man. Prayer is to be done always and not sometimes (1 THESSALONIANS 5:17). It is not something you do only when you are in trouble or when it is convenient but it is to be done always. Persistence here means praying without ceasing. It means to be constant. Never giving up. I see your prayer life entering a new dimension today in Jesus mighty name. Amen. So, why then is persistence in prayer very important?

*Persistence in prayer is important because it produces constant spiritual fire or intensity (LEVITICUS 6:12 - 13).* How productive your spiritual life becomes depends on the consistency of your prayer life. Dr. Pastor Paul Enenche said. “ a ministry or church cannot sustain impact or relevance in the kingdom without persistent prayer”. All power failure in the church is a result of prayer failure in the church. God did not create you and me to be stationary spiritually (PROVERBS 4:18; PSALM 84 : 7; 2 CORINTHIANS 3 : 18). To progressively increase in spiritual authority, power, grace, and fire; the secret is in appearing before God daily in prayer (HEBREWS 4 : 16).

You need to understand that everyday requires fresh fire; yesterday’s fire cannot quench today’s cold. Yesterday’s bread cannot satisfy today’s hunger. Yesterday’s mantle cannot handle today’s battle. Every new day requires new grace. Go before God daily to rekindle your fire and grace. Don’t allow your spiritual fire to go out. To keep the fire burning, you must maintain a constant prayer schedule (ACTS 3 : 1 - 7). Do you have an hour of prayer?

AVOIDING DIVINE CURSES III

SCRIPTURE REFERENCE:
And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself. MATTHEW 27:5

Curses are real. They are consequences of certain choices or decisions. They are consequences of certain actions. In our previous meditations, we have considered certain actions that brings the curse of God upon a man.
Today, as we conclude on the topic “the curse of God” let us consider one more thing that can bring the curse of God upon a man.

*Finally, another thing that brings the curse of God is when a man becomes a thief (ZECHARIAH 5 : 3 -4).* What makes a thief is not what he steals; how he steals or where he steals. A thief is a thief no matter what he steals; how he steals or what he steals.

Many nations have been ruined by thieves who have stolen the wealth of their nations. They have systematically stolen the monies of their countries. Some of these thieves are more sophisticated than others. Some steal publicly and others steal in a remarkably subtle and shrewd way. Whoever is involved and whatever the style of stealing, it always attracts a curse. I ask you today, are you a thief? Listen to me people of God, there is a curse on thieves and that curse is proclaimed by God. Whether you steal in the church; in the streets; on the road or in the office, it is stealing and it attracts the curse of God. Thieves die miserable deaths (JOSHUA 7: 25 – 26; 2 KINGS 5 : 7 - 27). My counsel to you is to avoid those things outlined above. Obey God’s word and you will escape the curse.

*AVOIDING DIVINE CURSES II*

SCRIPTURE REFERENCE:
Let people serve thee, and nations bow down to thee: be lord over thy brethren, and let thy mother's sons bow down to thee: cursed [be] every one that curseth thee, and blessed [be] he that blesseth thee. GENESIS 27 : 29

In life, there are consequences of certain actions. These consequences are products of the choices and decisions we make. Yesterday, we established that curses are as real as the blessing. We said that there are things that brings God’s curse upon a man. We also started looking at a few of these things. Today, we shall continue to look at some more causes of the curse of God.

*Another thing that brings the curse of God is when a man curses the one that God has blessed (GENESIS 12 : 3).* Not everyone is "cursable". Therefore, people should be careful, especially pastors that go around trying to pronounce curses on people. Be careful so that you don’t bring God’s curse on yourself by cursing the one God has blessed. The Jews are blessed people; it is a dangerous thing to hate them and to fight them. Make sure that the curse is not coming on the one God has blessed or on God’s people. Listen, it is dangerous to curse the one that God has blessed. This can bring the curse of God. (GENESIS 27 : 29).

*Thirdly, when a man put his trust on another man, he has positioned himself to be cursed by God (JEREMIAH 17 : 5 - 6).* To make man your trust and to put your trust on him is to invite a curse on your life. Have you said to any man; if not you, there is no one else? Trusting in man brings the curse of God. There is no individual big enough to sponsor the Gospel or the church of God. Be careful of the curse of God.
