DAILY GRACE, WEDNESDAY, MAY 27, 2026 – CHILDREN’S DAY.

THE VALUE OF CHILDREN

TEXTS: MATTHEW 19:14; PSALM 127:3

VERSE OF THE DAY:._“BUT JESUS SAID, ‘LET THE LITTLE CHILDREN COME TO ME AND DO NOT HINDER THEM, FOR TO SUCH BELONGS THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN" - MATTHEW 19:14 ESV)_

As we celebrate Children’s Day, we are reminded of the immense value and preciousness of children in the eyes of God. This day invites us to reflect on Jesus’ love for young ones and our responsibility to nurture and protect them. In the Bible, we see time and again that children hold a special place in God's heart.

In the passage from Matthew, Jesus emphasizes the importance of allowing children to come to Him. He rebukes the disciples for trying to keep the children away, illustrating that the kingdom of heaven is accessible to those with the faith and innocence of a child. This serves as a powerful reminder that children are not only a blessing but also vital participants in God’s kingdom.

Psalm 127 further echoes this truth, stating that “children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.” This highlights the joy and responsibility we have as parents, caregivers, and community members to cherish and support children as they grow. Each child is a unique gift with potential and purpose, fashioned by God’s design.

As we celebrate Children’s Day, we must also consider how we can create environments that promote love, safety, and spiritual growth for children. It is our duty to provide nurturing spaces where they can learn about God’s love, explore their faith, and develop their gifts. We can encourage children to express their thoughts and feelings, listen to their dreams, and guide them in their journey to know Christ.

Moreover, this celebration prompts us to reflect on how we can advocate for children in our communities. How can we support those in need, ensure their welfare, and ensure that every child feels valued and recognised? We are called to be their champions, lifting them in prayer and action.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, we thank You for the gift of children and the joy they bring into our lives. Help us to love, support, and teach them about Your goodness in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

LOOK FOR GRACE

TEXT: 2 CORINTHIANS 12:9

VERSE OF THE DAY:
_“BUT HE SAID TO ME, ‘MY GRACE IS SUFFICIENT FOR YOU, FOR MY STRENGTH IS MADE PERFECT IN WEAKNESS.’ THEREFORE, MOST GLADLY I WILL RATHER BOAST IN MY INFIRMITIES, THAT THE POWER OF CHRIST MAY REST UPON ME” - 2 CORINTHIANS 12:9 (NKJV)._

Grace is an ever-present reality in the life of a believer and recognising it amidst our challenges and struggles can profoundly impact our spiritual journey. This lesson aims to help us understand the importance of looking for grace in every situation and cultivating a perspective that appreciates God's sustaining power, especially in our weaknesses.

In 2 Corinthians 12:9, the Apostle Paul speaks of a personal struggle—a "thorn in the flesh"—and God's response emphasises that grace is not merely a concept but a practical source of strength in our lives. This verse reassures us that even in our times of weakness, God's grace is sufficient. It encourages us to seek out and rely on His grace, understanding that it can empower us to overcome adversity and find purpose in our pain.

Looking for grace involves recognising God's hand in everyday situations. Psalm 111:4 declares, “He has made His wonderful works to be remembered; the Lord is gracious and full of compassion.” By reflecting on God's past deeds and His grace in our lives, we can cultivate gratitude and a stronger faith. This practice reminds us that no moment is devoid of God’s grace, even in the midst of trials.

Grace also invites us to embrace our vulnerabilities as opportunities for God's strength to shine through. When we acknowledge our limitations and lean on God's grace, we open ourselves to greater reliance on Him. As stated in Hebrews 4:16, “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” This encourages us to approach God with confidence, knowing He is ready to extend grace when we need it most.

Moreover, looking for grace equips us to extend grace to others. Ephesians 4:32 urges us to “be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.” When we recognise the grace we have received, it becomes easier to practice kindness and forgiveness.

Grace also leads us to hope and transformation. As we seek God's grace in our lives, we are reminded of the hope found in Romans 5:2-5: “Through whom we also have access by faith into this grace in which we stand and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” Our trials, when met with grace, can lead to growth, perseverance, and a deeper understanding of God's love.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me to recognise and look for Your grace in every aspect of life in Jesus' Name, Amen.

TRUE BEAUTY

TEXTS: 1 PETER 3:3-4; PROVERBS 31:30

VERSE OF THE DAY:
_“DO NOT LET YOUR ADORNMENT BE MERELY OUTWARD - ARRANGING THE HAIR, WEARING GOLD, OR PUTTING ON FINE APPAREL - RATHER LET IT BE THE HIDDEN PERSON OF THE HEART, WITH THE INCORRUPTIBLE BEAUTY OF A GENTLE AND QUIET SPIRIT, WHICH IS VERY PRECIOUS IN THE SIGHT OF GOD” - 1 PETER 3:3-4 (NKJV)._

In a culture that often emphasises outward appearance, true beauty emerges from within. The Bible offers profound insights into the nature of beauty, encouraging us to focus on the qualities of our hearts and spirits rather than solely on external adornments.

Things to consider are as follows:

1. Defining True Beauty: True beauty, as described in Scripture, is characterised by the qualities of the heart. In 1 Peter 3:3-4, we are reminded that a gentle and quiet spirit is precious to God. This beauty transcends age, trends, and societal standards, pointing toward a deeper, more lasting essence that reflects God's love and grace.

2. The Heart's Reflection: Proverbs 31:30 reinforces the importance of inner beauty. “Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord shall be praised.” This emphasises that our reverence for God and our character nurture an eternal beauty. When we cultivate a relationship with God, it radiates outward, influencing how we interact with others and how we view ourselves.

3. Cultivating Inner Beauty: To nurture inner beauty, consider engaging in practices that deepen your spiritual life: Prayer and Worship: Regular prayer and worship create an intimate connection with God, moulding our hearts to reflect His character. Scripture Meditation: Reflecting on God's Word helps shape our values and attitudes, guiding us toward true beauty in our thoughts and actions.

4. Acts of Kindness: Serving others and showing compassion fosters a gentle spirit and enhances our beauty in a way that is pleasing to God.

5. Guarding Our Hearts: Proverbs 4:23 cautions us to guard our hearts, for they influence all aspects of our lives. Protecting our hearts from negative influences and nurturing positive attributes—love, kindness, and humility—contributes to our overall beauty. Surrounding ourselves with uplifting influences and engaging in self-reflection can bolster our character.

In conclusion, true beauty is a reflection of our inner self, rooted in a relationship with God and expressed through our actions, thoughts, and character. As we prioritise our spiritual growth, we become increasingly beautiful in the sight of God and those around us.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me to cultivate true beauty within my heart and to reflect Your character in all I do, in Jesus' Name, Amen.

PURSUING RIGHTEOUSNESS AND JUSTICE

TEXTS: MICAH 6:8; PROVERBS 21:3; MATTHEW 5:6

VERSE OF THE DAY:
_“HE HAS TOLD YOU, O MAN, WHAT IS GOOD; AND WHAT DOES THE LORD REQUIRE OF YOU BUT TO DO JUSTICE, AND TO LOVE KINDNESS, AND TO WALK HUMBLY WITH YOUR GOD?” - MICAH 6:8 (ESV)._

Pursuing righteousness and justice is foundational to living a life that reflects God’s character. This lesson explores the biblical call to uphold justice and righteousness, emphasising how they are central to a faithful and Christ-like life.

Micah 6:8 articulates God’s requirements for His people: “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” This verse underlines the importance of prioritising justice and kindness in our interactions, connecting our actions to our relationship with God. Pursuing justice means actively demonstrating God’s fairness and compassion in the world.

Proverbs 21:3 highlights the priority of these values: “To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.” This verse reminds us that God values our actions towards righteousness and justice above ritualistic offerings. It calls for sincerity and integrity in pursuing these ideals, placing them at the heart of our faith practice.

Matthew 5:6 further reinforces the connection between righteousness and spiritual fulfilment: “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” Jesus assures us that an earnest desire for righteousness leads to fulfilment. As we pursue justice, we align ourselves with God’s vision for the world, drawing nearer to His heart and purposes.

Reflecting on our commitment to righteousness and justice involves considering how we can embody these principles in our daily lives and communities.

Embracing these values requires deliberate actions—striving for fairness, advocating for others, and maintaining integrity. By educating ourselves about injustices, supporting efforts that foster equity, and embodying virtuous principles, we align ourselves with God’s mission.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, instil within us a deep hunger for righteousness and justice in Jesus' Name, Amen.

DISCERNING GOD'S WILL

TEXTS: ROMANS 12:2; JAMES 1:5

VERSE OF THE DAY:
_“AND DO NOT BE CONFORMED TO THIS WORLD, BUT BE TRANSFORMED BY THE RENEWING OF YOUR MIND, THAT YOU MAY PROVE WHAT IS THAT GOOD AND ACCEPTABLE AND PERFECT WILL OF GOD” - ROMANS 12:2 (NKJV)._

Discerning God's will is an essential part of the Christian journey, guiding our decisions and shaping our lives. In a world filled with distractions and competing voices, understanding how to seek and recognise God's direction helps us align our lives with His purpose.

How then can we discern God's will?
1. Transformative Thinking: Romans 12:2 encourages us to renew our minds to discern God’s will. This transformation begins with surrendering our thoughts and desires to God. By engaging with Scripture and allowing it to reshape our mindset, we can better perceive His guidance. It’s essential to reflect on our values and priorities to ensure they align with God's truth rather than societal norms.

2. Seeking Wisdom: James 1:5 assures us that if we lack wisdom, we can ask God, who gives generously. Prayer is a powerful tool for discerning God's will. When we seek His guidance through prayer, we position ourselves to receive insight and clarity. It’s important to approach God with an open heart, prepared to listen and follow His lead.

3. Listening to the Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit plays a crucial role in guiding us. As we cultivate a relationship with God, we will become more attuned to His voice. This involves being still, reflecting on our thoughts, dreams, and feelings, and seeking confirmation through Scripture and wise counsel from others.

4. Fellowship and Accountability: Surrounding ourselves with a community of believers is vital in discerning God’s will. Engaging in discussions and seeking advice from trusted friends or mentors can provide different perspectives and confirmations. Proverbs 15:22 states that plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers, they succeed.

5. Testing and Confirmation: As we consider different paths, testing our decisions against God’s word and His character is essential. Ask yourself: Does this align with biblical principles? Am I pursuing this out of selfish ambition, or does it reflect a desire to serve God and others? Keeping a journal of prayers and thoughts can also help track how God moves in our situations, offering clarity over time.

In conclusion, discerning God’s will is a journey that requires patience, humility, and a willingness to listen. By renewing our minds, seeking wisdom through prayer, listening to the Holy Spirit, relying on community, and testing our decisions, we can navigate our paths confidently, knowing we are aligning with God's purpose for our lives.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, grant me wisdom and clarity to discern Your will for my life. Help me to trust in Your guidance and to follow where You lead in Jesus' Name, Amen.

OVERCOMING FEAR

TEXT: ISAIAH 41:10

VERSE OF THE DAY:
_“FEAR NOT, FOR I AM WITH YOU; BE NOT DISMAYED, FOR I AM YOUR GOD; I WILL STRENGTHEN YOU, YES, I WILL HELP YOU; I WILL UPHOLD YOU WITH MY RIGHTEOUS RIGHT HAND” - ISAIAH 41:10 (NKJV)._

How can we overcome fear?

1. Understanding Fear’s Impact: Fear can be a powerful force, leading to anxiety and doubt. It can distort our perception of reality and cause us to forget God’s promises. Recognising the impact of fear on our lives is the first step to overcoming it. The verse of the day reassures us of God's constant presence, reminding us that we need not face our fears alone.

2. Claim God’s Promises: In times of fear, it is vital to cling to biblical promises. Isaiah 41:10 serves as a comforting reminder that God strengthens, helps, and upholds us. By meditating on such promises, we can counter the lies fear tries to impose and replace those thoughts with the truth of God's word.

3. Pray and Trust: Turning to prayer is a powerful way to combat fear. Bring your fears before God, asking for His strength and peace. Philippians 4:6-7 encourages us not to be anxious but to present our requests to God, with the assurance that His peace will guard our hearts and minds.

4. Take Actions Against Fear: Taking proactive steps can diminish fear’s grip. Identify specific fears and confront them with faith-driven actions. This might mean stepping out of your comfort zone, whether it’s in relationships, work, or personal growth. James 4:7 tells us to submit to God and resist the devil; actively resisting our fears can help us reclaim our confidence.

5. Fellowship and Support: Sharing fears with trusted friends or a faith community can also alleviate the burden they create. In Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, we're reminded that two are better than one, for they have a good reward for their labour. Encouragement from others can bolster our courage and remind us that we are not alone in our battles.

6. Focus on the Future: Lastly, shifting our focus from fear to hope can transform our mindset. Isaiah 43:1 encourages us that we are redeemed and called by God, emphasising our identity in Him. By focusing on the future God has for us, we can move beyond fear and into a place of trust and hope.

In conclusion, overcoming fear involves recognising its presence and responding with faith. By claiming God’s promises, embracing prayer, taking action against fear, leaning on community, and focusing on the hope we have in Christ, we can find courage that overcomes our fears.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me to face my fears with courage and faith. Remind me of Your presence and strength. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

SEEKING PEACE IN CONFLICT

TEXT: JAMES 1:19-20

VERSE OF THE DAY:
_“SO THEN, MY BELOVED BRETHREN, LET EVERY MAN BE SWIFT TO HEAR, SLOW TO SPEAK, SLOW TO WRATH; FOR THE WRATH OF MAN DOES NOT PRODUCE THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD" - JAMES 1:19-20 (NKJV)._

In our daily lives, conflicts are inevitable—whether in personal relationships, workplace settings, or even within ourselves. This lesson focuses on finding and maintaining peace in times of conflict, guided by biblical principles, which include the following:

1. Understanding Peace in Conflict: Acknowledging the reality of conflict is the first step towards peace. James reminds us to be “swift to hear,” emphasising the importance of active listening. Often, conflicts arise from misunderstandings. By listening attentively, we open the door to clarity and empathy, which are essential for resolution.

2. Responding With Wisdom: The call to be “slow to speak” challenges us to think before we respond. Impulsive reactions, often driven by anger, can escalate conflicts and damage relationships. Taking a moment to reflect allows us to choose words that promote peace rather than further discord. This approach aligns with Proverbs 15:1: “A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”

3. Seeking God’s Guidance: In times of conflict, turning to prayer can provide wisdom and peace. Philippians 4:6-7 encourages us not to be anxious but to present our requests to God. This practice does not eliminate conflict but equips us to handle it with grace and composure.

4. Practising Forgiveness: Conflict often harbours feelings of resentment and bitterness. Ephesians 4:32 calls us to “be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” Choosing forgiveness not only aligns us with God’s heart but also frees us from the burden of anger, allowing peace to thrive.

5. Community Support: James also highlights the importance of community in conflict resolution. Engaging with fellow believers who can offer godly counsel or mediate can facilitate understanding and healing. Galatians 6:2 urges us to bear one another’s burdens, which can be particularly helpful during challenging relational dynamics.

6. Taking Action: When faced with conflict, actively working towards peace requires intentional steps. Whether it’s initiating a conversation to clarify misunderstandings, practising active listening, or choosing to respond with kindness, these actions can pave the way for reconciliation.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me to be a peacemaker in the midst of conflicts, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

FINDING IDENTITY IN CHRIST

TEXT: 2 CORINTHIANS 5:17

VERSE OF THE DAY:
_“THEREFORE, IF ANYONE IS IN CHRIST, HE IS A NEW CREATION; OLD THINGS HAVE PASSED AWAY; BEHOLD, ALL THINGS HAVE BECOME NEW”- 2 CORINTHIANS 5:17 (NKJV)._

Understanding our identity in Christ is foundational for a fulfilling Christian life. As believers, our identity is transformed through our relationship with Him, moving from our past to a renewed purpose and belonging. This devotion explores how to discover and live out our true identity in Christ.

Firstly, recognising that our identity is rooted in our connection with Jesus is essential. The verse of the day reminds us that being in Christ means we are new creations, free from the burdens of sin and past failures. This transformation is not just a change of heart but a complete renewal of who we are. Embracing this reality helps us to see ourselves through God's eyes, not defined by our mistakes but by His grace.

Furthermore, understanding our worth in Christ is crucial. Ephesians 2:10 affirms that we are God's workmanship, created in Christ for good works. This means we have intrinsic value and purpose, designed intentionally by our Creator. Meditating on this truth can help us combat feelings of inadequacy and comparison, reminding us that we are uniquely crafted for a significant role in God's kingdom.

Our identity in Christ also frees us from the opinions and labels the world may place on us. Colossians 3:3 states, “For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.” In Him, we are no longer defined by societal standards or earthly achievements. Instead, our identity rests securely in the love and acceptance of Christ, which brings peace and confidence amidst life's uncertainties.

To fully embrace our identity, it is important to immerse ourselves in Scripture and prayer. The Bible reveals truths about who we are in Christ, and regular communication with God deepens our understanding of His love and acceptance. The more we align our thoughts with His Word, the more we can live out our identity authentically.

Additionally, connecting with a supportive community of believers can reinforce our identity in Christ. Engaging with others who share this truth encourages us to grow in faith and reminds us of our shared identity. Hebrews 10:24-25 encourages us not to forsake gathering together, as building each other up in faith affirms and strengthens our understanding of who we are as the body of Christ.

Lastly, living out our identity in Christ means serving others in love. Galatians 5:13 teaches us to serve one another humbly in love. Understanding that we are called to reflect Christ’s character enables us to impact those around us positively, living out our identity through acts of kindness and grace.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me to see myself through Your eyes and to embrace my identity in Christ in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

THE DANGER OF COMPLACENCY

TEXT: PROVERBS 1:32-33

VERSE OF THE DAY:
_“FOR THE TURNING AWAY OF THE SIMPLE WILL SLAY THEM, AND THE COMPLACENCY OF FOOLS WILL DESTROY THEM; BUT WHOEVER LISTENS TO ME WILL DWELL SECURE AND WILL BE AT EASE, WITHOUT DREAD OF DISASTER”- PROVERBS 1:32-33 (NKJV)._

The theme of complacency carries significant weight in our spiritual journey as Christians, highlighting the dangers of becoming passive or indifferent in our faith. This lesson will explore the implications of complacency and practical steps to remain vigilant and engaged in our devotion to God.

Firstly, understanding complacency is important. Our verse of the day shows that complacency can lead to destruction, giving us a false sense of security that makes us unaware of dangers. When we feel satisfied with our spiritual condition, we might neglect our relationship with God and lose the urgency to grow and follow His guidance.

Furthermore, the consequences of complacency are clear. Proverbs warns that it makes us vulnerable; those who are complacent can easily be misled. Spiritual stagnation leads to missed growth opportunities and potential destruction. We must remain alert, as complacency can gradually pull us away from God's path.

It is also important to cultivate an awareness of our spiritual state. Regular self-reflection and prayer can help us assess our relationship with God. Are we actively pursuing Him, reading Scripture, and connecting with fellow believers? By taking time to evaluate our spiritual health, we can identify and address any areas of complacency.

Additionally, having a supportive community is crucial in fighting complacency. Hebrews 10:24-25 encourages us to “consider one another” and inspire love and good works. Being around fellow believers can motivate us to stay engaged and passionate about our faith. Regular fellowship and discussions about faith can help keep us focused and avoid falling into complacency.

Finally, adopting a proactive approach to growth can help prevent complacency. Participating in Bible study, serving others, and worshipping together can reignite our passion for God. By actively seeking ways to deepen our faith, we can avoid a shallow relationship with Him.

In conclusion, it is vital to recognise and address the dangers of complacency to maintain a vibrant faith. By understanding the risks, staying aware, seeking accountability, and pursuing growth, we can build a strong relationship with God that keeps complacency away.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, grant us the strength to stay vigilant and passionate in our walk with You. Help us to recognise areas of complacency, and ignite our desire to grow in faith in Jesus' Name, Amen.
