Consecration of Bishops at Archbishop Vining Memorial Church Cathedral, Ikeja (2016)
On July 24, 2016, Bishops Israel Okoye, Akinpelu Johnson, and Abel Ajibodu were consecrated at the Archbishop Vining Memorial Church Cathedral in Ikeja, Lagos. Bishop Akinpelu Johnson was subsequently enthroned as the Bishop of Lagos Mainland on August 24, 2016, while Bishop Israel Okoye was enthroned as the Bishop of Ihiala on August 8, 2016.

Presentation of Archbishop Ikechi Nwosu as Dean and Archbishop Fape as Archbishop (2016)
At the same service on July 24, 2016, the Most Rev'd Ikechi N. Nwosu was presented as the Dean of the Church of Nigeria, and the Most Rev'd Michael O. Fape was presented as the Archbishop of the Lagos Ecclesiastical Province for his first term. This was a significant double presentation in one of the most historic cathedrals in the church.

Birthday of Bishop Titus Babatunde Olayinka of Ogbomoso
On July 22, the Rt. Rev'd Titus B. Olayinka, the Bishop of the Diocese of Ogbomoso, celebrates his birthday. Bishop Olayinka was consecrated on October 14, 2013, at St. Peter's Deanery in Yenagoa. The Diocese of Ogbomoso was inaugurated on March 18, 2005, with Bishop Matthew Osunade as the pioneer bishop. The current cathedral is the Church of St. David in Agboin, Ogbomoso. The diocese is part of the Ibadan Ecclesiastical Province.

Election of Bishop Rotimi Oludipe of Ijebu (2020)
On this day in 2020, the Venerable Peter Rotimi Oludipe was elected as the Bishop of the Diocese of Ijebu. He was consecrated on September 21, 2020, at the Cathedral of the Advent, Life Camp, Abuja. The Diocese of Ijebu was inaugurated on August 8, 1976, and belongs to the Lagos Ecclesiastical Province.

Choir Dress and Eucharistic Vestments Are Not the Same Thing

Many Anglicans today use terms interchangeably, but choir dress and Eucharistic vestments developed for different functions.

Cassock, surplice, hood, and scarf belong traditionally to choir offices and public prayer, while alb, stole, and chasuble belong more directly to sacramental celebration.

Translation of Archbishop J. A. Adetiloye to Lagos (1985)
On July 20, 1985, the Most. Rev'd Joseph Abiodun Adetiloye was translated to the Diocese of Lagos. He would later be elected as the second Archbishop, Metropolitan, and Primate of the Church of Nigeria on April 14, 1988, and presented on June 7, 1988. His primacy was noted for its vigorous evangelical and missionary expansion.

Church of Nigeria Hosts Province of Rwanda Bishops and Wives Retreat (2024)
From July 20 to 30, 2024, the Church of Nigeria hosted the Bishops and Wives Retreat of the Province of Rwanda at the National Secretariat, St. Matthias House, Gudu, Abuja. This retreat strengthened the fraternal bonds between two leading provinces of the Global South and GAFCON movements.

Birth of the Primate, Most Rev'd Dr. Henry Chukwudum Ndukuba
On July 18, the Most Rev'd Dr. Henry Chukwudum Ndukuba, Archbishop, Metropolitan, and Primate of All Nigeria, celebrates his birthday. He was born in 1961 and has led the Church of Nigeria since his presentation as Primate on March 25, 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Under his leadership, which he has termed the "Decade of God's Reign," the church has continued its commitment to biblical orthodoxy and missionary expansion. He succeeded the Most Rev'd Nicholas D. Okoh as the fifth Primate of the Church of Nigeria.

Inauguration of Doko Diocese (2009)
On this day in 2009, the Missionary Diocese of Doko was inaugurated in Niger State. It is part of the Lokoja Ecclesiastical Province.

Retirement of Bishop Tubokosemie Abere of Okrika (2020)
On July 18, 2020, the Rt. Rev'd Tubokosemie Abere retired as the Bishop of the Diocese of Okrika. The Diocese of Okrika was inaugurated on November 17, 2003, and belongs to the Niger Delta Ecclesiastical Province.
