Christ is pictured in Jeremiah as:

- Fountain of living waters- 2:13
- Great physician- 8:22
- Good shepherd- 31:10; 23:4
- The righteous branch- 23:5
- David the King- 30:9
- The redeemer- 50:34
- Lord our righteousness- 23:6

There were three great events in Jeremiah's life:

- Battle of Megiddo (609 BC) between Judah and Pharaoh Necho of Egypt in which good King Josiah was killed.

- Battle of Carchemish (605 BC) about four years later, during Jehoiakim's reign. He had become a vassal of Egypt. In this battle, the Egyptians were defeated by Babylon under Nebuchadnezzar. The first deportation of Jews followed.

- Capture of Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar (587-6 BC), destruction of city and Temple, and exile of greater part of those who were left to Babylon.

Lamentations is another of the Bible's exquisite Books of Poetry. It is commonly attributed to Jeremiah. Five beautiful, distinct poems are bound together in the Book. It is not all sorrow. Above the clouds of the poet's weeping over the sins of his people, God's sun is shining.

LAYING ON OF HANDS

How Important Are Our Hands In The Bible?
Our hands have always had great significance throughout the Word of God. Our hands are the very extension of our person, a vehicle of blessing. We lift our hands to bless, praise, and worship our God (He. 6:1-2; Lam. 3:41; Ps. 47:1; 1Ti. 2:8).

What Is The Doctrine Of The Laying On Of Hands?
It is the belief that the divine power of God can be transferred from one Believer to another, by laying hands upon another individual, to bring healing, deliverance, etc.

Was This Doctrine Practiced In The Old Testament?
Yes, many times.
1. Jacob laid his hands upon Joseph's children to convey blessings (Ge. 48:14).
2. The Priest laid his hands upon the scapegoat thus signifying the transfer of the sins and iniquities to the goat (Le. 16:21-22).
3. Moses laid his hand upon Joshua, thus imparting a portion of his wisdom and authority (De. 34:9).
4. When the Levites were called to do the service of the Lord all of Israel put their hands on them ordaining them to that service (Nu. 8:10).

LAYING ON OF HANDS.
Was This Doctrine Practiced in The New Testament?
Yes. We find four different ways in which the laying on of hands was used; healing the sick, blessing of children, Baptism of the Holy Spirit, and Ordination of Ministry.

1. The laying on of hands was greatly taught and practiced by Jesus Himself (Mk. 16:18, Mt. 8:3; Mk. 5:22-23

2. The ministry of the Apostle was confirmed by the laying on of hands (Ac. 5:12; 8:17-18; 6:5-6).

3. Through the laying on of hands, the Samaritans received the Holy Spirit in the same sense as the baptism in the Spirit that occurred at Pentecost (Ac. 1:8; 2:4).

The Samaritans' "two-stage" experience, first believing, and then being filled with the Spirit, shows that the two-stage experience of the Believers at Pentecost were not abnormal. The experiences of both Paul, and the Ephesian disciples, were the same as the Samaritans. They accepted Christ as Lord and afterwards were filled with the Spirit. There need not be a long time lapse, however, between saving faith and baptism in the Spirit as demonstrated by the Gentiles at Caesarea.

Through this lesson, we see that the laying on of hands is not a mere ritual or ceremony, but means of imparting God's life or blessing.

WHAT IS THE MINISTRY OF AN ELDER?
An Elder is a mature person who is recognized as a spiritual overseer in the local Church. Three terms are used to describe this ministry. Elder describes the position and maturity. Bishop describes the same ministry in terms of its function of oversight. Presbyter comes from the same Greek word as Elder and means the same thing. The ministry of an Elder includes serving the Lord's Supper, anointing the sick, and teaching the Word of God (Acts 20:28; James 5:14)

WHAT IS THE MINISTRY OF A DEACON OR DEACONESS?.
The basic meaning of the word Deacon is to serve or minister. The Deacon helps the Pastor, Ministers, and Elders. This service helps the leadership better perform their ministries to The Body. Deacons help especially with the temporal needs of the Church. They function in the Helps Ministry (1 Timothy 3:8, 1 Corinthians. 12:28, 1 Timothy 3:8-13).

INTRODUCTION TO BIBLE THEOLOGY II.

HOW SATAN DECEIVES THE WORLD.
Paul said to not marvel, for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore, we should not be surprised that those who work for him also appear as a minister of righteousness to deceive (2 Corinthians 11:14,15). This makes it clear that counterfeits of Satan in doctrines and manifestations will be substitutes of truth and as near to the light and truth as possible in order to deceive seekers after truth. So, it will pay everyone to be careful about what he believes and what supernatural power he yields to. There are definite ways outlined in Scripture, by which one can detect what kind of spirit is seeking control of him.

HOW TO DETECT COUNTERFEIT RELIGIONS AND DEMON WORKINGS.
Any doctrine that denies or in any way causes doubt and unbelief concerning anything taught in Scripture is from demons. Any religion is not of God that denies the inspiration of the Bible; the reality of God as a person; the Divine Son-ship of Jesus Christ as the only begotten Son of God; the virgin birth; the pre-existence of supernatural ministry the death, burial, bodily resurrection, and the ascension to Heaven and the coming again of Jesus Christ to set up a kingdom in the world forever; the reality and power of the Holy Spirit and his ministry to carry on the work of God among men; the reality of Christian experiences as the new birth, cleansing from sin, living free from sin, divine healing, the Spirit baptism, gifts of the Spirit, miracles, and signs following Believers, answers to prayer, fulfillment of the promises in getting health,
happiness, prosperity, and the numerous other experiences of the New Testament; the reality of Satan, demons, sickness, sin, and the fall of man; the creation of all things by God; the free moral agency of men; the universality of sin and the depravity of man; the necessity of repentance and the born-again experience; the penalty of sin as being the eternal loss of the

“THE POWER OF PERSONAL DEVOTION”
"And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed
into a solitary place, and there prayed." Mark 1:35

"And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to
pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone." Matthew 14:23

INTRODUCTION
The concept of 'Quiet Time' or personal devotion time as it is popularly known is a
profound key in spiritual development and operating in the supernatural.
Unfortunately, it is a highly neglected exercise, seldom practised by most Christians
and a lot of people in spiritual leadership positions. Anyone who cannot spend
personal time with God regularly should not expect to personally represent God
before others and should be careful about Spiritual Warfare. God’s main objective
for this summit is the spiritual welfare of each of us, this is only possible through
each person’s relationship with God through His Christ and empowered by His Holy
Spirit. Our work in God’s house CAN NEVER be better than our relationship with
God.

JESUS CHRIST IS OUR PERFECT EXAMPLE.
The two passages above are sufficient proof that Jesus, our Master, Saviour, Lord and
Captain was actively involved in going aside to SPEAK to The Father and to SEEK
The Father's face as regards His mission on earth. This He did either as the first
thing early in the morning or the last thing to prepare for the next day.
If Jesus Christ needed a solitary communion with The Father, we need it much more
than we can imagine.

SOME OF THE TEMPTATIONS THAT DRAG US AWAY FROM EFFECTIVE QUIET TIME
Life’s busy schedules and the work of ministry come with their ups and downs
and as such often build hindering walls between us and God. (These tempting
situations are not bad in themselves they're good, but bad when they serve to
replace or causes an inability to go solo with God.)

1. OVER-BUSYNESS.
This protracted state of being busy doing 'good' things often get in the way of doing
the 'needful' and 'rightful' thing which in turn cause us to major on the minor issues
of life and ministry. (Mark 4:19; Luke 21:34-36)
As important as whatever keeps us busy, causing late night sleep, tiredness and
overwork may be, THERE'S NOTHING MORE IMPORTANT THAN OUR PERSONAL
RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD.
"When you're too busy to have your quiet time, you're much busier than God
intended for you - It's a sign you're out of God's will in certain areas of your life."

2. REPLACEMENT OF QUIET TIME WITH SERMON PREPARATION TIME (for
Pastors, Assistant Pastors or Leaders who preach).
As a roll-over of the first point, ministry business added to other life's concerns
makes the spiritual church leader create a merger of activities in his or her life.
Unfortunately, one of the mergers is turning or mistaking sermon preparation time
into quiet time.
This is a deadly mistake that destroys the spiritual life of servants of God and
weakens their spiritual effectiveness.
"If you read/study The Scriptures 'only' to prepare sermons or exhortations, you
already need someone else to preach to you.”

3. JOINT DEVOTION (James.3:1)
A major compet**ion, dragging our personal time with God as Christian Leaders are
the many other joint prayer and devotion times we dutifully share with others.
These are meetings we often lead for our family, workers groups, The Church, etc.
The replacement of personal devotion time with departmental, congregational or
family devotion is a big mistake, as big as the one in number 2 above. These
meetings are very important but will eventually lose their power if we as under-
leaders do not create personal time with God.
"We have no spiritual authority to speak to God's people until we've heard from
God. (Spoken with God)" Our meetings with other people should be a flow from our
personal meetings with God, this includes our sermons and exhortation: the best
sermons or exhortations are products of an effective quiet time of the leader or
preacher. God deals with us in our personal devotion which makes it easier for Him
to deal with others through us.
Messages that have passed through the leader or preacher is often 'ministered' to
the people instead of merely being 'communicated' from our sermon notes.

CONCLUSION
A major benefit of personal quiet time for a spiritual leader apart from the issues
mentioned above is the fact that God speaks mainly to us for ourselves in our Quiet
Time. Unlike a specific or general congregational waiting period, or labouring in the
spirit to make enquiries over issues from God, He simply speaks to us about
ourselves, our assignment, our home, etc. in our quiet time.
"A major consequence of neglecting our personal devotional time as pastors is
experiencing a barrenness of God's voice." When there's a lack of divine direction,
spiritual dryness will gradually set in and eventually a carnal leader is born-
degenerating from a spiritual leader who disregarded his personal relationship with
God.
"IF YOU AS A LEADER PRAY AND SEEK GOD'S FACE ONLY WHEN YOU HAVE A
PROBLEM, THEN: YOU HAVE A PROBLEM."

A COMPLETE HISTORY OF
MOSES ORIMOLADE TUNOLASE.
Ajagunmokadi

Moses Orimolade Tunolase is the founder of Cherubim and seraphim church. He was born to a family of herbalist and his father was a powerful oracle consultant. His father’s name was Tunolase and his mother’s name was
Abigail Odijoroto, he was the third in a
family of six children with three brothers
and two sisters.

EVENTS BEFORE HIS BIRTH The oracle predicted that the baby in the womb would be an important, powerful servant of God and that the parents should be careful not to stumble through him.

One day, his mother went to the farm to fetch firewood when she knocked her foot against a stone and surprisingly a voice greeted her from the womb. Obviously she was scared and afraid, more so there was nobody around her. As a powerful woman herself, she quickly recited incantations to drive away any
evil spirit around her. After she gathered a large quantity of firewood, more than she could lift up by herself she started groaning calling for help and a voice from the womb spoke out and said “don’t worry, I will help you.”

She asked who was speaking and the
voice said: “I am the baby in your womb.”
As she was getting prepared to carry the
load, the load was miraculously lifted on
to her head. Obviously that was an experience too much to keep to herself, she narrated the incident to her husband who took her to a very strong oracle consultant that confirmed that the baby in the womb was a servant of God and should be left alone to pursue his journey in life.

EVENT AT BIRTH
As soon as he was born, he stood up in
his birth blood and tried to walk. Three
times he did this. The midwife, was scared that she pressed the baby down with force each time and quickly sent for his father – Tunolase. On arrival, Tunolase too was scared (since such a thing had never been heard or
seen), he joined with full strength and
incantations, which eventually overpowered and crippled his legs.

At age 5, he went into St Stephen’s
Anglican Church (C.M.S) -the only church
at Ikare and sang alone. The strange
light and sound in the church drew that
attention of the resident minister who
went to investigate. On opening the door, there was nobody except a young boy,
that sat down and was singing alone- yet
it sounded like a multitude of people
singing. When Orimolade was asked who
was in the church singing – he answered,
“We are.” This incident popularised Orimolade
Okejebu in the town and the minister
asked the young boy to come and teach
the church some songs.

ENCOUNTER BETWEEN ORIMOLADE
AND MASQUERADERS

The converts of Orimolade from
paganism to Christianity soon increased
in Ikare while idol worshipers and
masquerades started to decrease. The idol worshippers felt threatened and
mounted a serious fight with cutlasses
and charms against Orimolade and his
followers. With Orimolade in front and his
followers threading carefully behind him,
the idol worshippers were captivated by their own charms, turned against each
other and cut themselves.

The police were drafted in and could not
believe that people in the same group
would fight and injure each other to that
extent. Consequently, the followers of Orimolade that were unarmed physically
were accused of being responsible for
those that were injured. The followers of
Orimolade were arrested and taken to
Kabba – the provincial headquarter at
that time. Moses Orimolade went to kabba and preached that God said that
all the innocent people in detention
should be released. It was at Kabba that
the popular C&S song descended: - “E
funpe na kikan “which means: “sound the
call profoundly “– i.e. for the release of captives. All Orimolade’s followers were
released and they came back to Ikare
together.

This victory meant that all opponents of
Orimolade had to bow down and find a
way to compromise and win him to their side. They then decided to bestow upon
him one of the highest priestly titles in
the town – but being led by the Holy
Spirit, he told them that was not his
mission on earth.

WHAT HAPPENED IN THE DAYS OF MOSES

1. Orimolade would go to farm with his
brother Peter Omojola but would not
sleep at night; he would sing spiritual
songs from night till morning.

2. He was a very good hunter that would go to the bush alone without a cutlass or
a gun, yet would come back home with
slaughtered animals.

3. He once tried to do business by buying
and selling of palm oil and kola nuts. He
traveled to a town called Oshokoshoko in Northern Nigeria with his friend. On his
way, an angel of God appeared to him
and warned him not to jeopardise his
mission as a prophet of God with
business. He refused to take the warning
and as soon as he got to Oshokoshoko, he fell seriously sick, people thought that
he would die. His friend returned to Ikare
to inform them. His brother Egunjobi was
sent to bring him back home, however
before Egunjobi got to Oshokoshoko,
Orimolade had got back to Ikare, by what means – nobody knew.

4. One day, Orimolade paid his close
friend Garuba a visit. As it was getting
dark, Orimolade bid his friend goodbye
and began to walk home (bearing in mind
that he was crippled and could only walk with the aid of a stick). His friend Garuba
decided to discover the mystery as to
how Orimolade walks about. So Garuba
mounted his bicycle and started to follow
or chase Orimolade but he never saw or
overtook Orimolade along the way. On getting to Orimolade’s house, Garuba
met him at home – Surprise! Surprise!
Orimolade asked Garuba what he was
trying to investigate.

5. Orimolade fasted for three months
after which he called his mother to fetch water and bath for him. Afterwards he
told his mother that he wanted to prepare
a feast for the town and asked his mother
to assemble the pots and be ready for
feast preparation. To everybody’s
amazement including his mother, people started to walk in with loads of foodstuff
as gifts – which exceeded what they
needed.

ORIMOLADE’S MISSIONARY JOURNEYS

Moses Orimoade started his missionary
journey at Ikare around 1916 and he traveled to the length and breath of Nigeria-, which could be likened to the journey of first Apostles of Jesus Christ in the Bible.

He traveled from Ikare to Irun, Ogbagi,
Ayere, Ogidi, Kabba, Abaji, Igan, Ikase, Egbe, and Bida, to the North and back to
Ilorin, Ikirun, Oshogbo, Ogbomosho,
Ibadan, Abeokuta and finally Lagos.

Everywhere that Orimolade went, he
encountered opposition from idol
worshipers and forces of darkness but at all times he rebuked and overcame them.

A few examples as listed below:
At Irun: Irun is a village, a few miles from
Ikare known for its witchcraft practices
and evil masquerade performances. He
also pulled down the image of Osijora- the predominant idol worshiped in that
village.

At Ogidi: He stayed with a church leader
called Olupeka who warned him about a
river in the village that non-relatives must
not go there. The indigenous of Ogidi have worshiped and sacrificed to the
spirits in the river for many years.

Orimolade took his preaching to the river,
prayed into the water and it dried up. The
evil fish -like creatures were exposed and
killed. At Ikirun: Sango worshipers constantly
attacked the Anglican Church at Ikirun.
While Orimolade was in the church, the
sango worshipers conjured lightening
and thunder stone to strike them but
immediately the attack returned and killed the sango worshippers. The Christians at Ikirun were left alone ever since then.

At Ogbomosho: As Orimolade and his
entourage got to Ogbomosho, he
encountered a charlatan young woman who condemned him, and insulted his
entire entourage. Orimolade was
annoyed because of the woman’s remark
and he asked his entourage to leave the
town but before he left he cursed the
town that: “Rain shall not fall in this town again, pregnant women shall not give
birth to new babies and the lady will
surely loose her life.”

At Benin: Orimolade condemned the
practice of human sacrifice. In his sermon
to a large crowd, he said God created man in his own image. By his sermon, many traditional worshipers gave up their charms to be burnt.

ANGELIC VISITATION

An angel of God appeared to Orimolade in a dream and gave him three things:
1. A staff or rod – for victory
2. A royal insignia – authority for prayer
3. A crown – honour and respect from
every individual.

After the dream, he realised that his mission to preach the gospel of Christ was irrevocable. From that time he started to preach the word of God to friends and people around him – to the amazement of indigenes that were predominantly idol worshipers.

IT WAS NOTED THAT WHENEVER
MOSES ORIMOLADE WAS AT THE PEAK
OF PREACHING, HIS NAZARITE HAIR WOULD STAND UP WHICH FRIGHTENED HIS FOLLOWERS. HENCE HE WAS ADVISED TO WEAR A PECULIAR HAT TO COVER HIS HAIR.

In every town he visited, he directed his
converts to existing churches irrespective of their denomination, and where there
was no Christian church he helped to
establish one.

Orimolade went to preach on a Sunday in
the church and he preached for eight hours and read the Bible from Genesis to
Exodus without looking at any book. He
also performed many miracles on that
day which displeased the host minister T.
A. Ogunbiyi, he became jealous.

Everybody in the Church was amazed, as they had never seen such activities before. Archdeacon Ogunbiyi invited Orimolade for a revisit sermon in his church but planted charms at the entrance of the church to harm
Orimolade. Unfortunately, instead of harming Orimolade, the church warden was harmed – he collapsed and Orimolade resuscitated him with prayer.

From there on Moses Orimolade was
called Baba Aladura, which means
Praying father. Ogunbiyi challenged Orimolade to tell them the Bible school he attended and
how he acquired such a versatile
translation of the Bible. Ogunbiyi was
also in disagreement with Orimolade’s
free gift of holy water for healing. Ogunbiyi felt that the blessed water should be a source of income for his church. Eventually Orimolade was sent out of the church and he continued his open preaching in Lagos – emphasising the need for absolute faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, reliance on the power of the Holy Spirit, the efficacy of prayers for
healing and the use of Psalms, his
outstanding preaching ability was
reflected in quoting passages from the
bible.

OTHER RECORDED MIRACLES OF ORIMOLADE

A delegate from the town of Ogbomosho
had been trailing Moses Orimolade since
the event that put their town under a
curse. Eventually they caught up with him
in Lagos and begged him to forgive them and go back with them to Ogbomosho to
remove the curse. The whole town had
suffered due to lack of rain and pregnant
ones had failed to deliver.

On the day that Orimolade stepped into
Ogbomosho, he prayed that God should avert the curse. Rain started to fall heavily and many pregnant women delivered on that day.
The whole of Ogbomosho Township
realised instantly that Orimolade was God sent.

Other events in Lagos
1. A boy who swallowed a needle
vomited it when Orimolade prayed for
him.

2. A lady fell into the lagoon and was
delivered back alive after Orimolade
prayed for her to return alive.

3. A masquerader at Obun-Eko, Lagos
sent a message to Orimolade not to
come and preach at Obun-Eko.

Orimolade sent back to him and gave him
the date that he would be there to
preach. On the faithful day, the masquerader was fully armed with his charm. Orimolade with his entourage approached the man-reciting psalms 24 and 91 – but as the masquerade saw Orimolade approaching, he (the masquerader) collapsed and died. On that day, the popular C&S. song descended
Aje nse lasan ni
Kerubu a pa won run
Which means: - witches are doing in vain
Cherubim will destroy them

THE HUMAN SPIRIT

A. Being the Dwelling Place of the Holy Spirit
[Why are we emphasizing the difference between the Holy Spirit and the human spirit? It is because our greatest problem is that we do not know the indwelling Spirit or realize that the human spirit is the very dwelling place of the Holy Spirit; neither do we know that these two spirits are being mingled together as one Spirit. This is a pity! It is the mark of God’s economy, and many Christians are missing this mark. It is like a house that is inaccessible because the key is missing. Only the key will open the house to us that we may enjoy everything in it. For centuries the enemy has covered the key. What is the key? It is that our human spirit is the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit, and that our human spirit is one with the wonderful Holy Spirit.]

B. Being the Strategic Point of the Inner Life
[The human spirit is the strategic point for the inner life. We all have to know our human spirit. It is here that we have been born again and it is here that we worship God. "God is Spirit; and those who worship Him must worship in spirit" (John 4:24), not in the Holy Spirit, but in our human spirit. In our reborn human spirit we worship God, we serve God, we fellowship with one another, and we grow in life. We even have the church life here.]

C. Being the Receiving Organ
[Man can be likened to a radio. The Holy Spirit is like the heavenly radio waves. The spirit in man is like the radio receiver. The receiver is our spirit. God has done His part, and we have to take care of our spirit. We have to cooperate with God by preparing the proper organ to receive what He is, what He has done, and what He is going to do. There is no need for us to take care of the side of the Holy Spirit. That has been fully taken care of by God. We simply need to take care of our side, the human spirit.]

THE THREE PARTS OF THE SPIRIT—
THE CONSCIENCE, FELLOWSHIP, AND INTUITION

Let us go on to see something about the composition of the human spirit. [The spirit is a complete unit, composed of three parts or functions: conscience, fellowship, and intuition. The shaded area in the diagram below illustrates the parts of the spirit.]

[The conscience is found in Romans 9:1, "My conscience bearing witness with me in the Holy Spirit." Comparing Romans 9:1 with Romans 8:16, the conscience is located in the human spirit. On the one hand, the Holy Spirit bears witness with our spirit. On the other hand, our conscience bears witness with the Holy Spirit. This proves that the conscience must be a function of our spirit.]

[It is easy to understand the conscience. We are all familiar with this. To perceive right from wrong is one function of the conscience (Psa. 51:10; 34:18). To condemn or to justify is another one of its functions (1 Cor. 5:3). It is also easy to comprehend the fellowship. The fellowship is our communion with God (John 4:24; Rom. 1:9). Within our spirit, such a function makes it possible to contact God (Eph. 6:18; Luke 1:47; 1 Cor. 6:17). In a simple word, fellowship is to touch God. But it is not very easy to understand the intuition. Intuition means to have a direct sense or knowledge (Mark 2:8). There is such a direct sense in our spirit, regardless of reason, circumstances, or background. It is a sense without reason, a sense that is not "reasonable" (1 Cor. 2:11). It is a direct sense of God and a direct knowledge from God. This function is what we call the intuition of the spirit. Thus, the spirit is known by the functions of the conscience, the fellowship, and the intuition.]
