A GENERAL OF THE FAITH HAS RESTED
TRIBUTE TO REV. DR. AKINTAYO SUULOLA
WE WILL NOT MOURN AS THOSE WHO HAVE NO HOPE; WE WILL CELEBRATE A LIFE THAT WAS LIVED FOR CHRIST.
REV. DR. AKINTAYO SUULOLA has finished his earthly race and entered into rest in the Lord. We look forward in faith to the glorious resurrection, when those who have fallen asleep in Christ shall rise at His coming.
Today, we celebrate not merely a man who has departed this earth, but a servant of God whose life was poured out for the advancement of God's Kingdom.
You were a Christian, prophet, evangelist, and teacher to the core—a man of conviction, honour, humility, and an unwavering commitment to the Word of God.
A TEACHER OF THE WORD WITH UNCOMMON DEPTH
One of the things that made your ministry exceptionally remarkable was the depth with which you understood and taught the Word of God.
You did not merely preach sermons; you opened the Scriptures.
You had a distinctive ability to take deep spiritual truths and communicate them with clarity, understanding, conviction, and simplicity—yet without stripping them of their depth.
And remarkably, you did this predominantly through the Yoruba language.
You demonstrated that our indigenous language is not a barrier to profound theological understanding. In your hands, Yoruba became a powerful language of biblical instruction, revelation, conviction, and evangelism.
You preached deep truths in Yoruba in such a unique and engaging way that one could listen to you and develop an even greater love and appreciation for the Yoruba language.
You made the language carry the weight of Scripture.
You made ancient biblical truths sound alive.
You made complex spiritual realities understandable.
You made people listen.
And above all, you made people encounter the Word of God.
Your Yoruba preaching was not simply about speaking the language; it was about communicating the Gospel with cultural authenticity while maintaining biblical depth and spiritual authority.
A MAN WHO CARRIED THE GOSPEL WITH HIS CULTURE
You were unapologetically proud of your heritage.
You dressed in Yoruba attire.
You preached in Yoruba.
You spoke boldly.
You carried your culture with dignity.
And you carried the Gospel with conviction.
You showed our generation that being deeply rooted in one's culture and being completely committed to Christ are not contradictions.
You took the Gospel to villages, small towns, cities, crusades, communities, and different parts of the world—not as a competition, but because you loved Jesus and desired that souls would know Him.
We thank God for the grace He gave you and for how He used you, including through the JESUS FESTIVAL CRUSADES in Oyo.
You witnessed God's power in different dimensions, yet you remained humble, continually directing attention back to God and His Word.
WE SAW A GENERAL IN OUR GENERATION
Perhaps we did not see Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola in his days.
But God allowed our generation to see you.
We saw you.
We heard you.
We learnt from you.
We saw God move through your ministry.
We witnessed your passion for the Word.
We witnessed your love for the Gospel.
And we remain grateful to God for giving REV. DR. AKINTAYO SUULOLA to our generation.
A General has rested, but the fire he carried has not gone out.
The preacher has rested, but the Word he preached lives forever.
The voice has become silent, but the message continues to speak.
The man has rested, but his legacy continues through the lives he touched.
You fought the good fight.
You finished the race.
You kept the faith.
You poured your life into the advancement of God's Kingdom.
And we believe that your labour in the Lord was not in vain.
REST WELL, GENERAL.
Rest in the assurance of Christ.
Rest knowing that you served your generation.
Rest knowing that you preached the Gospel.
Rest knowing that you preserved the truth.
And until that glorious day when the dead in Christ shall rise, we will continue to celebrate the gift of your life, ministry, teaching, and legacy.
HEAVEN HAS RECEIVED A FAITHFUL SERVANT.
THE EARTH HAS BEEN BLESSED BY HIS MINISTRY.
AND THE GENERATIONS TO COME WILL REMEMBER HIS VOICE.
