Alhamdulillah, with hearts full of gratitude to Allah, we share moments from the just concluded Annual Hijab Week organized by the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Kwara Area Unit, held at UNILORIN Secondary School yesterday.

This year’s Hijab Week, themed “Unity in Hijab: Upholding Dignity, Identity, and Shared Values among Muslim Women Folk,” was a week filled with learning, reflection, sisterhood, and renewed commitment to the values of modesty and faith. It served as a powerful reminder that the hijab is not merely a dress code, but a symbol of dignity, identity, obedience to Allah, and unity among Muslim women, regardless of background or differences.

We were blessed with insightful sessions, meaningful discussions, and active participation from our sisters, all of which contributed to the success of the program. We sincerely appreciate our guest speakers, facilitators, and everyone who honored us with their presence. Your contributions added immense value and depth to the program.May Allah accept your efforts as acts of ‘ibādah and reward you abundantly.

We pray that the lessons learned during this Hijab Week continue to reflect in our daily lives and strengthen our unity as Muslim women. May Allah keep us steadfast upon the path of modesty, grant us understanding, and beautify us with iman and good character.

Jazakumullahu khayran to everyone who supported this program in one way or another. May Allah bless you all and grant us the opportunity to witness many more impactful programs.

INNA LILLĀHI WA INNĀ ILAYHI RĀJIʿŪN

With hearts weighed down by grief and submission to the decree of Allah, the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, Kwara Area Unit, announces the passing of one of its greatest pillars, Professor Lanre Yusuf Badmas, who returned to his Lord this afternoon.

Today, MSSN Kwara Area Unit has not merely lost a member; we have lost a legacy, a guiding light, and a silent architect of many of our greatest strides.

Professor Lanre Yusuf Badmas was:

1. A Former Amir of the Unit, whose leadership helped shape the direction of the Society in his time.
2. A Member of the Board of Trustees of MSSN at the National level, where his wisdom, experience, and calm counsel strengthened the organization beyond the borders of Kwara State.
3. A Life Patron of MSSN Kwara Area Unit, a role he did not carry in title alone, but in action, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment.

His support for MSSN was never superficial. He gave his time, his intellect, his influence, and his heart. He stood with the Society in moments of uncertainty and offered direction when it was most needed. The resounding success of the 2022 National Islamic Vacation Course hosted in Kwara State bears the imprint of his guidance and quiet intervention, among many other contributions too numerous to list.

He was a man who believed deeply in Muslim students, in their future, and in the responsibility of elders to nurture them with knowledge, balance, and foresight. His presence brought reassurance; his words carried weight; his departure leaves a space that cannot easily be filled.

We pray that Allah forgives his shortcomings, accepts his lifelong service to Islam and to the Muslim students, expands and illuminates his grave, and grants him Al Jannatul Firdaus without reckoning.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Emir of Ilorin, his family, the council of Ulāma, the Ilorin Emirate, his associates, the academic community, and the entire MSSN family nationwide. May Allah grant them patience and strength in this moment of loss.

Though he has returned to his Lord, his impact remains written in the lives he touched and the institution he helped build.

Adnan Muhammad Nasir,
Amir/Chairman,

Innā lillāhi wa innā ilayhi rājiʿūn.

The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Kwara Area Unit, receives with profound sorrow the news of the passing of the Chief Imam of Ilorin, who returned to his Lord on Monday, 19th January, 2026.

His demise marks the loss of a revered spiritual authority, a symbol of balance and restraint, and a custodian of Islamic scholarship whose influence extended far beyond the mosque and the Ilorin Emirate. The Muslim Ummah has lost a leader whose life was defined by service, wisdom, humility, and unwavering commitment to truth and unity.

The late Chief Imam was widely respected for his calm disposition, depth of knowledge, and principled leadership. In moments of tension and uncertainty, his voice consistently reflected moderation, foresight, and moral clarity, qualities that earned him trust across generations and institutions.

MSSN Kwara Area Unit recalls with gratitude his consistent fatherly engagement with Muslim students and youths. Members of the Society interacted closely with him on several occasions, including during the 2022 National Islamic Vacation Course(IVC) held in Ilorin and through sustained engagements on the platform of the Council of Ulama, which he chaired. In these interactions, he demonstrated genuine concern for the intellectual, spiritual, and moral development of young Muslims, encouraging discipline, sound knowledge, and responsible leadership.

His support for structured Islamic learning and youth development reinforced the belief that students remain a critical pillar in shaping the future of the Ummah. His counsel, accessibility, and understanding approach left lasting impressions on many within the MSSN fold.

On behalf of the leadership, executives, and members of MSSN Kwara Area Unit, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the Emir of Ilorin, the Ilorin Emirate Council, the family of the deceased, the Council of Ulama, and the entire Muslim Ummah.

We pray that Almighty Allah forgives his shortcomings, accepts his lifelong service to Islam, expands and illuminates his grave, and grants him Al-Jannatul Firdaus. May Allah grant all those he left behind the strength and patience to bear this great loss.

Indeed, scholars live on through the knowledge they impart and the lives they shape.

Innā lillāhi wa innā ilayhi rājiʿūn.
