ADDRESS BY THE AMIR, MUSLIM STUDENTS' SOCIETY OF NIGERIA (MSSN), KWARA AREA UNIT AT THE 2026 PATRONS AND MATRONS FORUM (PMF) CONFERENCE

Theme: Revitalizing the Ummah Through Unity, Trust, and Collective Responsibility

Bismillāhir Raḥmānir Raḥīm

All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. We praise Him, seek His assistance and forgiveness, and send abundant peace and blessings upon our noble Prophet Muhammad (ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam), his family, companions, and all those who follow his noble path until the Day of Resurrection.

Distinguished Guest Lecturer, Barr. Ayubb Abdulrasaq Jabaje;

Our highly respected Patrons and Matrons;

Members of the PMF;

Area Council Executives;

School Executives;

Distinguished Guests;

Brothers and Sisters in Islam.

Assalāmu 'Alaykum Warahmatullāhi Wabarakātuh.

It is with profound gratitude to Allah that I warmly welcome every one of you to this historic PMF Conference of the Muslim Students' Society of Nigeria, Kwara Area Unit.

Today is more than another gathering. It represents a renewed commitment to the future of Muslim students in Kwara State. It is a platform to reflect on our responsibilities, strengthen our relationships, and collectively chart a path towards a more vibrant, united, and purposeful Ummah.

Our chosen theme, "Revitalizing the Ummah Through Unity, Trust, and Collective Responsibility," could not have come at a more appropriate time. Across our communities, institutions, and organizations, we are constantly reminded that sustainable progress cannot be achieved through individual efforts alone. Allah says in the Qur'an:

"And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided."
(Qur'an 3:103).

Unity remains our greatest strength. Trust remains the foundation of every successful relationship. Collective responsibility remains the hallmark of every thriving community.

Distinguished guests, MSSN has continued to serve as a platform for nurturing generations of morally upright, academically sound, and socially responsible Muslim students. Across our schools and campuses, countless leaders, professionals, scholars, and community builders trace part of their development to this noble Society.

However, these achievements have never been accidental. Behind every successful school branch is a committed Patron or Matron who gives time, wisdom, encouragement, and guidance. You are mentors, counsellors, guardians, and role models. Many of the values our students uphold today are products of your sacrifices, patience, and unwavering commitment.

This conference is therefore our modest way of appreciating your invaluable contributions while also creating an avenue for renewed engagement, collaboration, and strategic planning. We believe that by strengthening the bond between the Area Unit, the PMF, and our school branches, we can reposition MSSN to meet present realities and future challenges.

Our aspiration is to build a more coordinated Society where communication is strengthened, mentorship is institutionalized, leadership is continuously developed, and every Muslim student has access to sound Islamic guidance within the school environment.

We equally recognize that the challenges confronting Muslim students today have become increasingly complex. Issues relating to moral decadence, identity crises, substance abuse, peer influence, digital distractions, and declining values require a united response. These realities demand that we work together with sincerity, wisdom, and purpose.

Today's conference is therefore not merely an event. It is the beginning of a renewed movement. It is a call for stronger partnerships, greater commitment, and collective ownership of the mission of nurturing future generations of confident, knowledgeable, and responsible Muslims.

On behalf of the Executive Council of MSSN Kwara Area Unit, I sincerely appreciate every Patron and Matron who has honoured our invitation despite numerous engagements. Your presence today demonstrates your love for this noble cause and your continued belief in the vision of MSSN.

I also extend our heartfelt appreciation to our distinguished Guest Lecturer, Barr. Ayubb Abdulrasaq Jabaje, for graciously accepting our invitation to share his wealth of knowledge and experience with us. We are confident that today's discourse will leave us with practical lessons and renewed inspiration.

My appreciation equally goes to the PMF Committee, members of the Planning Committee, Area Council Executives, volunteers, and everyone who worked tirelessly to make this conference a reality. May Allah reward every effort abundantly.

As we participate in today's programme, I encourage us to listen attentively, contribute meaningfully, share experiences openly, and leave this gathering with renewed determination to strengthen our schools, our Society, and our Ummah.

May Allah unite our hearts upon righteousness, bless our efforts, preserve our institutions, and make this conference a source of lasting benefit for generations to come.

Thank you all for honouring our invitation.

Topic: Freedom of Expression Vs Respect in Islam

Lecturer: Sister Zainab Olabisi Sulaiman (Amirah MSSN Kwara Area Unit)

Islam acknowledges the right to speak, but it also teaches us the responsibility that comes with our words. Freedom of expression should never become an excuse for disrespect, insults, or harm. True strength lies in speaking the truth with wisdom, kindness, and good manners.

In a world where everyone has a voice, may we always choose words that please Allah and uplift humanity.
