Venomous snake found a sleeping porcupine. It wrapped itself around it. It felt warm, safe, perfect. Then, the porcupine woke up. Its sharp quills rose instantly.

The snake felt pain. But instead of letting go, it squeezed even tighter. The tighter it held, the deeper the quills pressed. Still, it refused to release its grip. It believed holding on would somehow make things better.

It didn't. The pain only grew worse. In the end, the snake lost everything. Not because of the porcupine, but because it refused to let go. In psychology, this is called trauma bonding.

Some people stay attached to relationships that keep hurting them. They mistake pain for love and suffering for loyalty. Remember this: sometimes the strongest thing you can do isn't holding on. It's walking away.
