END OF THE BUDDHIST WALK FOR PEACE:
The 19 Buddhist monks who embarked on a 2,300-mile walk (3,700 km) on foot from Texas, USA to Washington DC, on October 26, 2025 arrived Washington DC last Tuesday, February 10, 2026 after 108 days.
In the course of the pilgrimage, at different locations, States and cities, the monks met thousands of people (admirers, fans, curious individuals, adherents of Buddhism and seekers) whom they gave the Buddhist message which is about mindfulness, kindness and peace.
Thousands were gathered last Tuesday, at the Washington National Cathedral to give them a cheering heroic welcome.
The message of the Buddhists, was given by Venerable Bhikkhu Pannakara. In the message, he said: "Peace is something that we are seeking for so many years, and yet we still have not find it. We have locked it, and put it in a box. We are not walking from Texas to Washington DC to give you any peace, but to raise awareness of peace so that you can unlock that box and free it."
Many Americans, say that peace is what they need in the midst of the division, wars and unrest among them.
