Topic: Arise and Shine
Text: Mark 10:46-52

INTRODUCTION
There are rules that guide what happens to people. Pass me not Jehovah is not a song while sitting down. Blind Bartimaeus was sitting down. He was a popular beggar. People knew him to his home. He was the son of Timaeus. Visually impaired people are usually very sensitive. Blind Bartimaeus was sitting down as the master was passing; V.46. For how long will you keep sitting down? It is not obtainable while sitting! The disciples told him to arise; the master was calling him. Remember the lame man at the beautiful gate? ,Acts 3:6, He was told to arise. Rising is a responsibility. It does not matter for how long your life has been stagnant, I command you to arise. At whatever point your life has been sitting, arise. You musst not sit down forever, arise.
WHY MUST YOU ARISE? Isaiah 60: 1-3.
Your time has come! Your light has come. For long, darkness has enveloped you but today, I command you to arise and shine for your light has come. You have been sitting because darkness has covered the earth. Remember, when God decided to create the world, He met darkness. Gen 1:1
When Lucifer was expelled from heaven, satan became darkness. Darkness covered everywhere. God could do nothing in darkness. No wonder you have not been able to do anything because of darkness. For how long will you remain covered by darkness? arise! When you shine, multitude will come to your light. Isaiah 60: 1-3

Topic: In A Chaotic Situation as This
Text: Exodus 14:10-22

INTRODUCTION
It was Vernon Law who said "Experience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first, the lesson afterwards". Most valuable lessons of life are learnt when we experience them. For sure, David Knew a bit about God before King Saul started hunting for his life. Just think about it; if the USA president wants you dead, how can you escape? King Saul wanted David dead. All David had was God and God gave him victory.
The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer, my God, my Strength, in whom i will trust, my buckler, the horn of my salvation and my high tower. David shows us nine things he had discovered about God that helped him through his flight from King Saul. It will go a long way if You and I master these nine discoveries about God which can change our lives in times of fight of flight or fight like these. 2Sam. 22:47
-The Lord is my rock: The lord is large and solid. Any life, marriage, family built on the rock can survive any wind.
-The lord is my fortress: The lord is your defence HQ which no enemy can pe*****te.
-The Lord my deliverer: How else could David have escaped every assault and attack from Saul.
-The Lord is my God: A God is anything/anyone you run to for help because you consider them superior and supreme or super human. Who is your God?
-The Lord is my strength: Your strength is usually the one who has power to help you when you have a problem or battle, who is your strength?
-The Lord is my Buckler: A buckler is a shield that wards off arrows and darts.
-The Lord is the horn of my Salvation: The horn of salvation is the power to save and make safe.
-The Lord is my High tower: A high tower is an inaccessible place and a vantage position due to altitude. When God is your high tower, you can become impervious and inaccessible to your enemies.
-The Lord is my trust: What gives you that strong confidence and assurance that no matter what happens to the economy or government, you are secured? Only the Lord can give this kind of assurance.
Like David, exercise yourself by declaring these nine things about God to yourself. See God in these nine ways as from today. Your life will never remain the same.

Topic: Do It If You Really Believe It
Text: John 13:5-17

INTRODUCTION
You may have a heart of gold, but so does a hard boiled egg. People judge you by your actions, not by your intentions. A thousand words will not leave so lasting impression as one's deed. Action is a natural fruit of direction. Let your good intention be followed by appropriate actions. If you don't do it, you don't really believe it (John 13:17). Prayer must never be an excuse for inaction. The Lord speaks to us as He did to Moses; "Quit praying and get the people moving i.e Go forward" (Exo. 14:15). Most prayers are only going to be answered when you attach actions to them.
To get what is right, create time to practice what is right. Knowing what is right to do and then not doing it is sin (James 4:17). To do nothing is the way to be nothing. The Welsh people say "There is no idleness without a thousand troubles". Satan's number one tool is not an active sinner but an inactive Christian. The devil tempts some, but an idle man tempts the devil. Keep busy doing what is right so that the devil may always find you occupied. When you challenge your fears, you master them. When you wrestle with your problems, they lose grip on you. Don't wait to be motivated, take the bull by the horn until you have him screaming for mercy.
Don't keep searching for easy ways to make a living. Laziness is a load. Laziness keeps on and on, but soon enough, it arrives at poverty. You are weakest when you try to get something for nothing. Hard work brings prosperity, playing around brings poverty (Prov. 28:19).
Don't allow weeds grow around your dreams. To only dream of the person you would like to be is to waste the person you are. Stop dreaming of great accomplishments, stay awake and do them. You cannot build a reputation on what you are going to do (Henry Ford). Be like a cross between a carrier pigeon and a woodpecker, he not only carries the message, but he also knocks on the door.

Topic: Never Let Your Yesterday Use Up Much Of Your Today
Text: Isaiah 43:18-19

INTRODUCTION
Indecision is a cogent enemy of change. There are multitudes in the valley of decision (Joel 3:14). If you are not decisive, change is far from you. The choice is yours, year 2023 is going as yester years have gone. Don't stick to yesterday, so as to make the bet of today to enter into a brighter future (Jere. 6:16). Yesterday ended last night. so today is more valuable to look ahead and prepare than to look back and regret. Don't let regrets replace your dreams. A man is not old until regrets take the place of dreams (John Barrymore).
- Regret looks back
- Worry looks around
- Faith looks up (Romans 4:17)
LIFE
Can be understood backwards, but it must be lived forward. If past history was all that mattered, Librarians would be the only successful people in the world. The past should only be viewed with gratitude for the good things God has done. So look backwards with gratitude for the good things and forward with confidence. Use the past as your launching pad, not your lawn chair.
Dreams of the future are more valuable than the history of the past. The wise man looks ahead, but the fool attempts to fool himself and won't face the facts. (Prov. 14:8).
It is necessary to note:
- Experience is at best yesterday's answer to today's problem.
- It should be a guide not a jailer.
- Your past is not your potential.
- Don't build your future around your past.
- Your past is over. You must be willing to shed part of your previous life.
Your God does not review your past to determine your future. (Isa. 43:18). Keep your eye on the road, and use your rare-view mirror only to avoid trouble. Stop taking journeys into the past. Don't make the mistake of letting yesterday use up too much of your today.

Topic: Never Look Into Your Future With Eyes Of Fear
Text: Phil. 4:4-6

INTRODUCTION
Your own fear are the worst liars in the world. Worry is the traitor in your camp that dampens your powder and weakens your aim. Worry is faith in the negative, trust in the unpleasant, assurance of disaster and belief in defeat. It is a magnet that attracts negative conditions. But faith is a more powerful force that creates positive circumstances. Worry is wasting today's time to clutter tomorrow's opportunities with yesterday's troubles. Psalm 37:4.
Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desire of secret petitions of your heart. Cast your worries and cares; let him have all your worries and cares for He is always thinking about you and watches everything that concerns you. 1Peter 5:7.
Learn never to make a decision based on fear. Worry comes when we interfere with God's plans for our lives. Don't find yourself giving something the "benefit" of the doubt. Doubt has no benefit!! Most battles are lost as a result of the unfounded fear of the strength of the enemy.
Discover that this year 2023, you will do what you were afraid you couldn't do in 2022. Fear and self satisfaction lock men's mind against fresh ideas. When men are ruled by fear, they find themselves unable to make the very changes that will eliminate it. Things that never happened has robbed you of joy in your life. Remember those things you were worrying about a year ago? Didn't you waste a lot of energy on account of many of them? Didn't most of them turn out to be alright after all?
God never built a Christian strong enough to carry today's duties and tomorrow's anxieties piled on top of them.
The best way to combat fear is:
When you are afraid, put your confidence in God. Trust the promises of God. Psalm 56:3-4. Graduate from unbelief to faith. Heb. 11:6. The Just shall live by faith. Heb 10:38, Rom. 1:17; 5:1-2.

Topic: Do Something
Text: Col 4:17

INTRODUCTION
It is common to feel hated by peers and superiors, fellow students and teachers. You may be nursing the hope of quitting your school or place of work........ Don't quit.
There are few of us who, on some days have not felt like quitting but you don't just want to go to school or work. You may be nursing dropping out or quitting is a better idea than facing the challenge ahead. Success begins the moment you understand that life is all about beginning. Start where you are. You can only start with what you have, not what you don't have. Opportunity is always where you are, never where you were. To get anywhere, you must launch out for somewhere or you will get nowhere. The question for each man to settle is not what he would do if he had the means, time, influence, and educational advantages, but what he will do with the things he has. People are are always neglecting something they can do and trying to do something they can't do. Do what you can with what you have, where you are (Teddy Roozelvit).
The only way to learn something thoroughly is by starting at the bottom (except when learning how to swim). The truth is that many are successful because they didn't have the advantages others had. Don't spoil what you have by desiring what you have not but remember that what you now have was once among the things only hoped for.
No improvement is as certain as that which proceeds from the right and timely use of what you already have. The truth is, you can't know what you can do until you try. The most important catalyst to reaching your dreams is starting right where you are. You may not be able to do everything, but you can do something. Don't allow your cannot do interfere with your can do

TOPIC: Opportunities Hide Behind Obstacles
TEXT: 2 Corinth. 4:7-10

INTRODUCTION
Obstacles are a part of life and many times lead to excellent opportunities. Not all obstacles are bad. In fact, an opportunity's favourite disguise is an obstacle. You will always meet obstacles on the road to your answer; the fight is good, it proved that you have not quit, and you are still alive. No one is immune to problems. Even the Lion has to fight off flies.
2 corinthians 4:8-9. Being a diligent person does not remove you from the world and its problems, rather, it positions you to live in it productively and victoriously. Thomas Cartely: The block of granite that was an obstacle in the pathway of the weak becomes a stepping stone in the pathway of the strong. Each challenge provides an opportunity to grow, not to die. Your struggles may be lasting but it is not everlasting. It is wrong to think that there is nothing more permanent than this temporary situation.
Obstacles will reveal what you truly believe and who you truly are. They introduce you to yourself. You will find out what you honestly believe in the face of a problem. Your life will be much more productive if you understand that obstacles are part of life. If you want your place in the sun, you will have to expect some blisters.
Face the music and someday you may lead the band. The difference between Iron and Steel is fire, and the fire-tried steel is worth it.
