1. When Religion Becomes a Way of Life Without Christ
Religion has greatly influenced human culture. It has shaped people's understanding of food, clothing, greetings, ceremonies, worship, and morality. These practices are not necessarily wrong in themselves. The problem arises when religious traditions become more important than the living God.
A person can become so attached to religious rules and traditions that he or she stops examining what is true. The mind can become controlled by traditions to the extent that the person accepts everything simply because it is religious.
Paul warned the Colossian believers not to allow anyone to judge them concerning food, drink, festivals, new moons, or Sabbaths. These things, he explained, were shadows of what was to come, but the reality is found in Christ (Col. 2:16β17).
Therefore, Christianity is not merely about religious appearance, rituals, clothing, ceremonies, or traditions. Christianity is about Christ. βοΈπππ½π«
