Godly fear
Text: Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear Hebrews 12:28.

Introduction
The focus of this teaching is to deepen our faith and walk with God in view of the godlessness of these last days. Godly fear is very dear in our contemporary time and this manifests in numerous evils of these end times as revealed by the word of God (2Timothy 3: 1-9). The fear of God along with obedience to His commandments is the whole essence of godliness and expected duty of man. Read Ecclesiastes 12: 13. We are commanded severally in the Scriptures to fear the Lord; Deuteronomy 6: 13, 24; 8: 6; 10: 12, 20; 13: 14; Joshua 24: 14; 1Samuel 12: 24.

1. The basics of godly fear
The fear of God consists of the following:
(a) Hatred of evil. Evil is anything that is ungodly, wicked and wrong. To detest or hate evil is to have godly fear. The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate Proverbs 8:13. In Genesis 20 verse 11, Abraham said Genesis "Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife's sake". The lack of godly fear makes men to do all sorts of ungodly things, wickedness and evil. Read Genesis 26: 7.
(b) Reverential trust and worship of God. This is the deep respect and honour that we give to God when we fear and trust Him. "And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me" Genesis 22:12. God attested that Abraham trusted and honoured Him to the extent of not withholding his son from him. We fear God when we live our lives in awe of God and His Word.
(c) Trembling at God's word and having contrite heart. The fear enables a man to pant and tremble on hearing the truth of God's word. Read Psalms 51: 17; Daniel 5: 19; 26.
(d) Walking in uprightness before God. Proverbs 14:2 He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the LORD: but he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.
(e) Being afraid of displeasing God and having terror of His judgment Genesis 42: 18; 2Corinthians 5: 11.

2. Building godly fear. This is a deliberate act of building and possessing the fear of God. These are what we must do to have godly fear:
(a) Have deep esteem and respect for God and His Word always Job 23: 12; Psalms 115: 6, 15, 128.
(b) Always abhor that which is evil and cleave to that which is good Romans 12: 9b
(c) Love righteousness and hate wickedness. Read Psalms 45: 7.
(d) Be a companion of them that fears the Lord. Psalms 119:63; I am a companion of all them that fear thee, and of them that keep thy precepts. Read Proverbs 13: 20.
(e) Seek the Lord truly and always. When we seek the Lord by daily walking in His presence, the imbibe the fear of God. Read Psalms 4: 3-5.
(f) Be in covenant relationship with God through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ for this will enable you to inherit the promises of having the fear of God in your heart. "And they shall be my people, and I will be their God: And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me for ever, for the good of them, and of their children after them: And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me" Jeremiah 32:38-40.

3. Blessedness of godly fear
The Bible is replete with the rewards of walking in the fear of God, His name and living in awe of Him and His Word. The benefits of the fear of God include the following:
(a) The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom Psalms 111: 10; Proverbs 1: 7; 9: 10; 15: 33.
(b) God teaches those who fear Him His ways Psalms 25: 12; 14.
(c) He reveals His covenant and purpose to those who fear Him Psalms 25: 14.
(d) The secrets of the Lord are with those who fear Him Psalms 25: 14.
(e) There is deliverance for those who fear God 2kings 17: 39.
(f) The book of remembrance will be opened for those who fear God Malachi 3:16.
(g) The sun of righteousness will come upon those that fear the Lord with healing in his wings Malachi 4: 2-3.
(h) Those who have the fear of God shall be clean and shall endure Psalms 19: 9a.
(i) The fear of God brings blessings and those who have it shall not want Psalms 34: 9.
(j) The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon those who fear Him Psalms 103: 17.
(k) The fear of God lengthens one's life Proverbs 10:27.
(l) It brings wealth and honour and life Proverbs 22:4.
(m) The fear of God makes us to serve God acceptably, avoids His wrath and enables us to inherit His kingdom. Read Hebrews 12: 28-29.

The King is born

Text: Luke 1: 30-33

Introduction
The yuletide season is most cherished by genuine believers in Christ as it ushers in and brings joy and hope to the world. Joy to the world for the Lord is born, as it's written "fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord" Luke 2:10-11. Hope, also to the world because the Saviour-King is born who will save mankind from sin (Matthew 1: 21). In this teaching, we shall examine the scripture to see the manner of His birth and reign, place and prophecies of His birth and our responsibilities to the King, our king.

1. The manner of His birth 2Samuel 7:12-16; Psalms 2:6; Isaiah 9:6-7; Luke 1:30-33; Galatians 4:4-5.
(a) Jesus was born of a virgin Isaiah 7:14. This speaks of His sinlessness, "For he hath made to be sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in him" 2Corinthians 5:21.
(b) Jesus was born in a manger which explains His humble birth Luke 2:7,12, 16. We can only serve our Saviour-King in humility. Read Philippians 2:5-10.
(c) Jesus was born in due time i.e. fullness of time Galatians 4:4-5.
(d) Jesus was born by a woman and made under the law to redeem those who were under the law Galatians 4:4-5. This is the purpose of His birth. Has this purpose been fulfilled in your life? Read Matthew 1:21; Luke 1:30-33.
(e) Jesus was born to reign Isaiah 9:6-7; Luke 2:30-33.
(f) Jesus was born as a "gift" . For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given.... Isaiah 9:6. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting lifeJohn 3:16.

2. The place of His birth.
Micah 5:2; Luke 2:4-7,15.
The birth place of the Lord Jesus Christ is a fulfilment of scripture. "But hou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel, whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting" Micah 5: 2.
From this scripture, we can see how God brought forth the greatest and the best from the most little place in Israel. "Though your beginning was small, yet your latter end should greatly increase" Job 8:7. As we celebrate the birth of our Saviour - king, we should believe in His power to increase us and our families, according to His purpose.
The scripture made it expressly clear that the new born child is a ruler a king and that it had been established from eternity.

3. The manner of His reign and kingdom Luke 1:30-33; Isaiah 9:6-7; Romans14:17.
(a) As a Son of David, He shall inherit the throne of His father David
(b) He shall reign over the house of Jacob forever and of His kingdom there shall be no end. He is an everlasting king of eternal kingdom. Make Him king over your life today. Read Isaiah 9:7.
(c) Jesus as king, government shall be upon his shoulder Isaiah 9:6. Read Psalms 22:28.
(d) As the King, His name is called wonderful, for Him alone does great wonders Psalms 136:4.
(e) As the King, He is a counsellor who teaches the way to go.
(f) The mighty God is Jesus the King. God who became flesh and dwelt among us John 1: 14.
(g) Jesus as king is the everlasting father. Through the death and resurrection of Jesus, God made us His sons, "God sent the forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying Abba, Father" Galatians 4: 6.
(g) Jesus is both the King and the Prince of Peace. Jesus is the author of peace. By His death, He became our peace Ephesians 2:14-22.
His kingdom is righteousness, peace and joy, in the Holy Ghost Romans 14:17.

4. The manner of our duties to our king. The following are our responsibilities to our King:
(a) We must love Him Deuteronomy 20:12; Psalms 2: 1-12.
(b) We must serve the King as the subjects of His kingdom John 12: 26.
(c) We must obey Him Acts 5: 29.
(d) We must worship Him Exodus 35:14.
(e) We must fear Him Deuteronomy 6:13.
(f) We must trust Him Psalms 125.

Prayer
1. I praise, bless and worship You Lord Jesus Christ for You are the King of kings and Lord of lords.
2. I bless You Lord God because You reign forever, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
3. I bless and worship You for You are the mighty God who came to live among men, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
4. I bless and worship You Lord God for You are the everlasting Father who gave His Son to redeem the world, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
5. Lord Jesus, I bless and worship You because You died to reconcile us back to God.
6. Lord Jesus Christ, I invite You to be the Saviour - king over every area of my life.
7. Lord Jesus Christ, reign as King over my life and family this season and beyond.
8. Father Lord, let Your righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost be permanently established in my life now and always, in the mighty name of Jesus
Christ.
9. I pull every other kingdoms aside the kingdom of God in my life and family, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
10. Let the peace of God that passes all understanding rule and reign in my life and family this season and beyond, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
11. Lord Jesus Christ, as my King counselor, teach me the way to go now and always.
12. Lord Jesus Christ, command deliverances for me in all areas of my life.
13. Lord Jesus Christ, as You defeated the kings of Og and Bashan, defeat every evil king working against Your purpose for my life and family.
14. Lord Jesus Christ, as the sovereign Lord, fulfil Your purposes over every area of my life and family.
15. Lord Jesus Christ, let not Your purpose for coming to the world be in vain for me.
16. Lord Jesus Christ, perfect that which concerns me and family, this season and beyond.
17. Father, help me to serve, love and fear as the my King, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
18. I receive grace to serve the Lord Jesus Christ and follow Him all my days, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
19. I rededicate my life to the worship of God in spirit and truth, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
20. I receive grace and power to finish strong and well, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.

Stay safe and blessed.
Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Possessing the gate of enemies

Text: That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; ……… Genesis 22: 17.

Introduction
Our scriptural text written above shows a portion of the whole package of the covenant God made with Abraham. However, the part that bequeaths victory and prevailing power on the seed of Abraham is our focus for this teaching.
Thy seed. This means the descendants of Abraham. Covenants are known to be passed from a man to his descendants or offspring. The only condition is that the children must also obey and follow the terms of the covenant. The seed of Abraham are not only His biological descendants but also those who are his children by faith. “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male or female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye are Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise”. Galatians 3:26-29.

The seed of Abraham are heirs according to the promise. Which promise? Genesis 12: 3, 22: 17. When we give our lives to God through faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary, we become children of God by faith and also heirs of promise given to Abraham. As a child of Abraham, you can lay claim to the promises of blessings, being a blessing, multiplication, protection and victory.
Thy seed shall possess. As a seed, you are promised possessions. To possess means to inherit. That is what an heir does. He takes over and claim what belongs to his father. Children of God are called to possession both physical and heavenly inheritance. Read Obadiah 1: 17, Genesis 22: 17; 24: 60. What are the things that belong to our Father? All things, heaven and earth (Acts 7: 49-50; 17: 24), the earth and its fulness (Psalms 24:1), gold and silver (Haggai 2: 8), riches and honour (1Kings 3: 13) etc. We are to possess what is already in the hands of our enemies Deuteronomy 11: 24; Joshua 1: 3. Read also Isaiah 54: 3; 60: 5; 16; 61:6.

The gate of your enemies Genesis 22: 17; 24: 60; Luke 1: 73-75. The gate of our enemies are their lands, borders and all their possessions.
To possess the gate of our enemies is to conquer and subdue them and take over all their territories. When we possess the gate of our enemies they become our subjects and they serve us. They also bow down to us. It means we shall rule over those who hate us. This has already been promised the children of Abraham; “The oath which he swore to our father Abraham, that he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear, In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life. Luke 1: 73-75. God had promised to make the enemies of our Lord His footstool Psalms 110:1; Matthew 22: 44. In Deuteronomy 28 verse 7, it is written that “The Lord shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways”. Our victory over the power and forces of the enemies are anchored on the promise sworn to Abraham.

Is the issue of enemies real or an illusion? Yes, it is real. Read the following scriptures: Deuteronomy 28: 7; Psalms 68:1-2; Jeremiah 15:20-21; Matthew 10: 36; Luke1: 73-75.
What then are the things to do to activate this precious and important promise?
First, we must remain in covenant relationship of being true children of God Galatians 3: 26-29.
Second, we must live an obedient life of practicing the word of God Deuteronomy 28: 1-14. Disobedience makes the people of God vulnerable to the attacks of their enemies. If God be for us who can be against us Romans 8: 31. But if we are against God through disobedience, He will be against us. Read 2Chronicles 28: 9.
Third, be very prayerful against powers and agents that wage war against children of God in every area of life. Read Luke 18: 1-8, Hebrews 5:8.
Fourth, put on the whole armour of God Ephesians 6: 10-18.
Fifth, be filled with Holy Spirit Ephesians 5:18; Zechariah 4: 6.
Sixth, stay on the promise Genesis 22: 17.
Seventh, fear not but hold unto the word of God. He has promised to make us victorious if we put our trust in Him Psalms 91;125.

*Prayer*
1.Jehovah! Your name be praised forever because You are the man of war, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
2. Lord God, You are the mighty warrior and great in battle, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
3. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I shall possess the gate of my enemies.

19. I will not be afraid of ten thousand that have set themselves against me for God shall fight my battles and give victory, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
20. God shall arise and save me and shall smite my enemies upon the cheek bone and break the teeth of the wicked, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
21. My Father, lead me in Your righteousness because of my enemies and make my way straight before me, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
22. Let my enemies fail by their own counsels and cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
23. I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I shall be saved from my enemies, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
24. God shall arise and deliver me from my strong enemy and those who hate me, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
25. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I shall run over a troop and by my God I shall leap over a wall.

27. The Lord God shall teach my hands to war so that a bow of steel shall be broken by my arms, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
28. The Lord God shall gird me with strength unto the battle and shall subdue under me those that have risen against me, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.

They looked unto Him
Text: They looked unto Him, and were lightened; and their faces were not ashamed. Psalm 34:5

Introduction
Psalms 34, first of all is a Psalm of praise to the Lord for all His benefits to David in His travails. He is seen here testifying to God's goodness and faithfulness to him and to all those who seek and fear Him. The text of our Bible teaching showcases the essence of looking unto God for all situations and circumstances of life. God will never fail those who trust in Him.

1. They ......... Who are those? These are the characteristics of those who look unto God:
(a) Those who seek the Lord v4, 10. They seek His face, strength and presence Psalms 27:4-6.
(b) Those who cry to Him v6. They cry unto God as refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalms 46: 1.
(c) Those who fear Him v7, 9, 11-16. They fear God by hating evils and they hold God in great esteem Proverbs 8: 13. They also have respect unto His word Psalms 119: 15.
(d) The righteous v15, 17, 19. Righteousness exalts while sin brings reproach and shame Proverbs 14: 34.
(e) The broken hearted and those with contrite spirit v18. The sacrifice of the broken-hearted God will not despise; He will hear their prayers. Psalms 51: 17; Isaiah 66: 2.
(f) The servants of God and those who trust Him v22. Romans 10: 11.

2. Looked unto Him
To look unto God is to call upon Him in faith and prayer in times of distress, troubles, difficulties, even in times of trials and temptations. It is not just a momentary gaze for help in trouble but a continuous and sustained trust in God expressed through seeking of God for salvation, healing, deliverance, victory in the battles of life and all what God can do. Is there anything He cannot do? Gen 18:14, Isaiah 59:1; Matthew 19: 26; Mark 10: 27; Luke 1: 37; 18: 27.
In Isaiah 45: 22, the Lord said "Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is none else". We look unto God when we call, come and cry unto Him for helps. Also in Numbers 21:8; And the Lord said unto Moses, make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that everyone that is bitten, when he looketh upon it shall live. He Lord Jesus Christ made reference to this in John 3 verse 14, 15. The greatest look we can make to God is for salvation from sin. Are you saved?

3. And they were lightened
(a) When we are in sin and are troubled, we are in darkness, but when we turn to the Lord, He will lighten us "as the true light that lighteth every man that cometh into the world" John 1v9.
(b) The presence of troubles, distress and problems in our lives may denote "the hour of the power of darkness" as said by the Lord Jesus. Luke 22 v 53. Read John 8 v 12; 9 v 5.
(c) As we trust God and His Son Jesus Christ, in His "light we see light" Psalm 36 v 9. The light of God dispels our darkness and shame as we seek and trust Him. Read Psalms 18 v 28.
(d John 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. When we turn to the Lord, our light will shine and darkness will not be able to overcome it. Divine enlightenment is the beginning of all the works and moves of God in our lives Genesis 1: 3-4. Until the coming of the Lord into our hearts by looking unto Him we cannot have all what God had purposed for us.. 2 Corinthians 4:6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. It is the light of the knowledge of the glory of God that we partake in the face of our Lord Jesus Christ.

4. and their faces were not ashamed. When we look to the Lord for salvation from sin, healing and deliverance from life's problems, He replaces our shame with glory and we then have testimony like that of David. Shame is the absence of glory which is a result of sinful living When we fully turn to the Lord and His words, He will replace our shame with glory. Psalms 119:6 Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments. Romans 10:11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. Do you believe Him for eternal life? The scriptures says you will not be ashamed . Do you trust for healing? The Bible says you will not be ashamed. Do you believe Him for deliverance? The word of God says you will not be put to shame. Remember, the Scriptures cannot be broken John 10: 35. Also, In Numbers 23:19, it is written "God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?" Keep trusting the Lord, keep looking unto Him, keep holding unto His words. For sure, God will never fail.

Prayer
1. Father, I give You glory and praise for Your word is forever settled in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ.
2. Father, please grant me grace to continue to hold unto the word of life to the end, in the name of Jesus Christ.
