TOOK, LAY, DEFILE...
Genesis 34:1-7
1 And Dinah the daughter of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land.
34:2 And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he 👉 TOOK her,👈 and 👉 LAY with her,👈 and 👉 DEFILED her.👈
34:3 And his soul clave unto Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the damsel, and spake kindly unto the damsel.
34:4 And Shechem spake unto his father Hamor, saying, Get me this damsel to wife.
34:5 And Jacob heard that he had defiled Dinah his daughter: now his sons were with his cattle in the field: and Jacob held his peace until they were come.
34:6 And Hamor the father of Shechem went out unto Jacob to commune with him.
34:7 And the sons of Jacob came out of the field when they heard it: and the men were grieved, and they were very wroth, because he had wrought folly in Israel in lying with Jacob's daughter; which thing ought not to be done...
John 10:10
THE THIEF cometh not, but for TO STEAL, and TO KILL, and TO DESTROY: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly...
The only daughter that Jacob had was Dinah and the whole chapter 34 of Genesis was written all to talk about the , and .
1. THE EVENT- It is not a sin to have friends but it's a sin to have worldly friends and even to pay them a visit in an ungodly place at an ungodly hour! She must have been the most precious among all the brothers. They must have been very proud to have a sister among them. They must have been giving her almost everything she asks for but she has to stay among godly people. Instead she was not contented and she decided to look for something else.
2. THE EVIL- Then she went to visit the DAUGHTERS OF THE LAND! Why? Probably she wants to have fun, or probably she was influenced by their way of life, dressing, songs, and she became curious and couldn't stay with her godly friends and went out to (lust of the eyes) and then Jacob's only daughter or princess met with Shechem the prince of Hamor. And then he her, her, with her, her (lust of the flesh). The evil here was that she had a one night stand with an unbeliever! How is that possible? Lust of the eyes became lust of the flesh and then...
3. THE END- Then Shechem spake unto his father Hamor, saying, GET ME THIS DAMSEL to wife. (Pride of life)
Can you see that those three walk together hand in gloves? You can read the whole chapter 34 to find out what happened to her at the end. She was never mentioned that she got married or had children or was of influence to anyone. Another end was that Shechem that defiled her was killed by Dinah's brothers. So who lost? Dinah of course!
God really meant it when He warned us about separation! Because if we do not separate ourselves from them and want to be like them, dress like them, talk like them, sing the same songs they sing, go to the same places they go to, we will later commit the same sin they commit! It's an undeniable truth. This year you need to separate yourself from those that hindered your walk with God. You have to be different! And for you to do so, you have to be strict about it!
How to go about it?
1. Unsubscribe from ungodly group of friends.
2. Be content with where you are (in God's will).
3. Have a standard not to defile yourself and stay pure...
Scripture for Meditation;
James 1:15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
