THE CHRISTIAN’S RESPONSIBILITY TO THE NEXT GENERATION

1. TRANSFER THE FAITH
We are not called merely to preserve the Gospel for ourselves, but to faithfully pass it to those coming after us. “We will tell the generation to come the praises of the LORD” (Psalm 78:4, NKJV).

2. MODEL WHAT YOU TEACH
The next generation needs more than sermons; they need examples worth following. Paul instructed Timothy to be “an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity” (1 Timothy 4:12, NKJV).

3. PREPARE THEM FOR THEIR TIME
Our responsibility is not to reproduce ourselves, but to equip the next generation to fulfil God’s purposes in their own era. “David… served his own generation by the will of God” (Acts 13:36, NKJV).

4. BUILD A LEGACY THAT OUTLIVES YOU
A faithful generation prepares another faithful generation. “One generation shall praise Your works to another” (Psalm 145:4, NKJV).

The question is not only, “What are we leaving behind?” but “Who are we preparing to carry it forward?”

Building People, Not Personal Empires
Great leadership is not measured by how many people serve the leader, but by how many people become stronger, wiser, and more capable because of the leader.

Jesus modelled leadership through service: “Whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant.” — Matthew 20:26, NKJV.

Leadership should multiply people, not merely magnify personalities. Peter Drucker similarly emphasized that the effective leader develops people and enables them to perform beyond their perceived limitations (The Effective Executive, 1967).

Build people. Release potential. Multiply impact.
A leader’s greatest legacy is not an empire that bears their name, but people who can carry the vision forward.

*WHAT NIGERIA NEEDS MORE THAN POLITICS*

Nigeria does not lack political conversations; we lack enough productive citizens, accountable institutions and leaders with the courage to put public interest above personal advantage.

Politics can change governments, but only strong institutions, ethical leadership, education, enterprise and responsible citizenship can transform a nation. Proverbs reminds us, “Righteousness exalts a nation” (Proverbs 14:34, NKJV).

Our greatest national question should therefore move beyond “Who is in power?” to “What are we building?”

We need citizens who create value, leaders who accept accountability, institutions that outlive individuals and a culture where competence is respected more than connections.

Nigeria needs less political noise and more nation-building.

The future will not be secured by political slogans, but by the quality of people and institutions we build today.

BECOMING VALUABLE BEFORE BECOMING VISIBLE

In an age obsessed with visibility, many people want to be seen before they have developed anything worth seeing.

But true influence is built on competence, character and contribution. Jesus taught that whoever desires to become great must first learn to serve (Matthew 20:26–28, NKJV).

David was not promoted from obscurity because he demanded a platform; he was prepared in the field before he stood before kings (1 Samuel 17:34–37, NKJV).

Visibility may attract attention, but value sustains influence. As Peter Drucker observed, effective leadership is ultimately concerned with creating value and making a meaningful contribution (The Effective Executive, 1967).

Build substance before seeking spotlight.
Become valuable before becoming visible.

THE POWER OF CRITICAL THINKING

Faith does not require the suspension of thought. Scripture says, “Come now, and let us reason together” (Isaiah 1:18, NKJV).

Critical thinking enables us to examine information, question assumptions and distinguish truth from popular opinion. The Bereans were commended because they “searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so” (Acts 17:11, NKJV).

In an age of misinformation, emotional manipulation and AI-generated content, believers must not merely ask, “Is this popular?” but, “Is this true?”

Mature faith thinks.
Wise leadership examines. Truth withstands scrutiny.
