Morning Prayer

Great Father of Glory, pure Father of Light, the Angels adore Thee. All laud we render this beautiful morning.

Our help is in the name of the Lord who made Heaven and Earth. Eternal Father, we thank You for the grace of this new day and for Your loving kindness. May all honour and thanksgiving be Yours now and forevermore. Lord, remind us often of our real self and save us from the pride of empty and faulty impression of people about us. Lord, grant us the humility to see and accept our faults and weaknesses that we may be loving and charitable with the faults of others. Guide and direct our thoughts words and actions. May our conduct be in accordance with Your Divine Will. Bless our Families and grant our Children the grace to grow in maturity and wisdom. May Your love and peace abide in our homes. May the Labour of our hands be blessed and fruitful. May our businesses continue to prosper . Grant us Your healing and protect us from all evil through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Good Morning.

FIRST READING
I am your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.
A reading from the Book of Isaiah (Isaiah 41:13-20)

I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I will help you.” Fear not, you worm Jacob, you men of Israel! I will help you, says the Lord; your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel. Behold, I will make of you a threshing sledge, new, sharp, and having teeth; you shall thresh the mountains and crush them, and you shall make the hills like chaff; you shall winnow them and the wind shall carry them away, and the tempest shall scatter them. And you shall rejoice in the Lord; in the Holy One of Israel you shall glory. When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue is parched with thirst, I the Lord will answer them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them. I will open rivers on the bare heights, and fountains in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water. I will put in the wilderness the cedar, the acacia, the myrtle, and the olive; I will set in the desert the cypress, the plane and the pine together; that men may see and know, may consider and understand together, that the hand of the Lord has done this, the Holy One of Israel has created it.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM
Psalm 145:1 and 9.10- 11.12-13ab (R. 8)

R/. The Lord is kind and full of compassion, slow to anger, abounding in mercy.

I will extol you, my God and king, and bless your name forever and ever. How good is the Lord to all,
compassionate to all his creatures. R/.

All your works shall thank you, O Lord, and all your faithful ones bless you. They shall speak of the glory of your reign, and declare your mighty deeds. R/.

They shall make known your might to the children of men,
and the glorious splendour of your reign. Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom; your rule endures for all generations. R/.

ALLELUIA
Isaiah 45:8
Alleluia. Alleluia. Shower, O heavens, from above, and let the skies rain down the Just One; let the earth open, that it may bring forth the Saviour. Alleluia.

GOSPEL
No one greater than John the Baptist has risen.
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew (Matthew 11:11-15)

At that time: Jesus said to the crowds, “Truly, I say to you, among those born of women there has arisen no one greater than John the Baptist; yet he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and men of violence take it by force. For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John; and if you are willing to accept it, he is Elijah who is to come. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.

FIRST READING
The Lord is strong in power and gives power to the faint.
A reading from the Book of Isaiah (Isaiah 40:25-31)

To whom will you compare me, that I should be like him? Says the Holy One. Lift up your eyes on high and see: who created these? He who brings out their host by number, calling them all by name; by the greatness of his might, and because he is strong in power not one is missing. Why do you say, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel, “My way is hidden from the Lord and my right is disregarded by my God”? Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary, his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM Psalm103:1-2.3-4.8and10 (R.1a)

R/. Bless the Lord, O my soul.

Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all within me, his holy name.
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and never forget all his benefits. R/.

It is the Lord who forgives all your sins,
who heals every one of your ills, who redeems your life from the grave, who crowns you with mercy and compassion. R/.

The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and rich in mercy. He does not treat us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our faults. R/.

ALLELUIA
Alleluia. Alleluia. Behold, the Lord is coming to save his people; blessed are those who are ready to meet him. Alleluia.

GOSPEL
“Come to me, all who labour.”
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew (Matthew 11:28-30)

At that time: Jesus said, “Come to me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
