TOPIC: HIGHER AND DEEPER EXPERIENCE
READ: MARK 4:37-41
MEMORISE: That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death. (Philippians 3:10)
It is easy to believe or think that you already know God, but you may be surprised to know that you have not completely understood Him and His ways. There are certain experiences of God that reveal our insufficiency and inadequacy. These make our expression of awe of Him to be great and resounding. Experience speaks of having a practical knowledge of something. You can't say you are experienced when you only know the theory. The disciples had stayed with Jesus for sometimes, yet they hadn't fully understood what He stands for. The miracle they saw Him performed made them to confess "what manner of man Jesus is". This is a statement emphasizing their awe of Him. It will hence affect their perception and perspective of Him. It will change their regard for Him. New dimension of God usually leaves us with great and awesome experience. This will definitely take us to higher level in our relationship with Him. How much of Him do you know? Don't you think you need to know Him more? The gravity of your experience will always be determined by the level you are in Him. The kind of experience of Jesus that Paul had in Acts 9 was different from what our text describes and from what he craved for in Philippians 3:10, 11.
Today's is a higher degree of experience. They had been with him severally yet their fear lingered. Their faith is still wavering so they needed to be worked upon, hence the need for the new and higher degree of experience.
Know that you can't be talking of second level when you are not yet at level one or first degree. Continued experience of Jesus is all that the believer needs. Gradually, it will bring us to level of completeness, higher level of productivity and give Him the confidence to make use of us for His glory.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, show me Your face, like You showed Yourself to the patriarchs.
2. Lord, draw Your Church closer to Yourself in intimate relationship.
3. Lord Jesus, bring the believers back to the level of blissful association Adam and Eve enjoyed in Eden.
