FIRST SUNDAY SERMON – MAY 2026
Church: All Christian Fellowship Ministry, Ikere Ekiti
Minister: Pastor A.M. Alabi
Topic: Agbara Ọrọ (The Power of Words)
Text: Genesis 1:1-3, 1 Peter 1:5

Introduction:
Words are not ordinary sounds. Words carry power, direction, and influence. Many people do not know that what they continually say can shape their lives.
God Himself used words during creation. He did not struggle with darkness. He only spoke:
“Let there be light,” and light appeared.
This means words can create change.
If God used words to create, then His children must use words wisely.
Many people destroy themselves by negative confession:
I cannot make it
Nothing good comes to me
My life is useless
I will always suffer
Such words invite weakness and discouragement.
But positive confession brings strength.

Say:
I am blessed
I will succeed
God is with me
My future is bright
Doors shall open for me
1. The Power of God’s Word
Hebrews 4:12
The word of God is living and powerful.
God’s word can:
Heal the sick
Break chains
Remove fear
Change sorrow to joy
Give victory in battles
Restore hope
When you speak God’s promises, power is released.
2. Life and Death Are in the Tongue
Proverbs 18:20-21
Your tongue can build or destroy.
Some people curse themselves daily without knowing:
I am finished
I am unlucky
I can never pass
Nobody loves me
Stop speaking death.
Instead say:
Grace is working for me
Mercy follows me
I will not fail
My season of joy has come
3. Speak Good Words to Yourself
There are times nobody will encourage you. You must encourage yourself.
David encouraged himself in the Lord.
When fear comes, say:
I refuse fear
God is my helper
I am stronger than this problem
I will overcome
When sickness comes, say:
By God’s mercy I receive healing
When delay comes, say:
My time will come
Illustration Expanded
A sister went for an interview. Before they called her, fear wanted to enter her heart.
But she spoke courage to herself:
“I will succeed. I am qualified. God is with me.”
When difficult questions came, she answered wisely.
What gave her victory first was the battle she won in her mind.
If she had said:
“I will fail”
Her confidence would have gone.
Lesson:
Win in your mind first before the physical battle.
4. Guard Your Mouth
Ephesians 4:29
Do not let corrupt communication proceed from your mouth.
Meaning:
Stop insults
Stop curses
Stop gossip
Stop abusive words
Stop discouraging others
Use your mouth to bless.
Speak words that heal hearts.
5. Do Not Compare Yourself
God created you specially.
Do not measure your journey with another person.
Some people bloom early. Some bloom later.
Some become successful young. Others later.
Comparison brings sadness.
Say:
My time is coming
My destiny is unique
God has not forgotten me
6. Benefits of Positive Words
a. It Gives Confidence
Good words strengthen your heart.
b. It Opens Opportunities
Confident people speak boldly.
c. It Brings Peace
Positive thinking removes anxiety.
d. It Builds Faith
Faith grows by right confession.
e. It Attracts Favor
People love hopeful and kind speakers.
7. Dangerous Words to Avoid
Never keep saying:
I am nobody
I am ugly
I am cursed
I cannot make it
My family is useless
I hate my life
Replace them with truth:
I am valuable
God loves me
I am progressing
I have purpose
Better days are ahead
Daily Positive Confession
Say every morning:
Today shall favor me
Good news will locate me
I shall not be put to shame
God will guide me
I carry grace
No evil shall overcome me
My tomorrow is better than today
Prayer Points
Lord, control my heart.
Lord, control my tongue.
Remove every negative spirit from my speech.
Give me boldness and wisdom.
Every evil word spoken against me, cancel it.
Let my mouth speak blessings only.
My future shall be glorious.
Fear will not rule my life.

SUNDAY SERMON
Church: All Christian Fellowship Ministry, Ikere Ekiti
Minister: Pastor A.M. Alabi
Text: Nahum 1:7
Topic: Where Do You Put Your Trust?
Opening Scripture
Nahum 1:7 – “The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knoweth them that trust in Him.”
This verse tells us two important things:
God is good and dependable
He protects those who trust Him
Introduction
Everyone in life puts their trust in something:
Some trust in money
Some trust in people
Some trust in their own wisdom
But today, God is asking you:
👉 Where did you put your trust?
👉 Is it in God or in man?
Because whatever you trust will determine your future, peace, and outcome.
Explanation
Proverbs 28:26 – “He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool…”
This means:
Human understanding is limited
Your heart (feelings and thoughts) can mislead you
Only God sees the end from the beginning
👉 So trusting yourself without God is dangerous.
Illustration
A man put his trust in a hen (chicken), believing it would guide and help him.
But one day, when he needed help the most, the hen disappointed him.
👉 Lesson: Anything you trust apart from God will fail you one day.

Deep Teaching
1. Man Can Fail You
People are not perfect.
Even those you trust can disappoint you.
Friends can change
Helpers can fail
Loved ones can disappoint
👉 That is why you should not put your total trust in man.
Jeremiah 10:23 – The way of man is not in himself.
2. Your Heart Can Deceive You
Your heart can tell you what feels right but is wrong.
Jeremiah 17:5 – Cursed is the man that trusts in man.
Feelings are not always truth
Emotions can lead to wrong decisions
👉 Only God gives the right direction.
3. Even Close People Can Betray
Example: Judas Iscariot
He was close to Jesus
He followed Him
Yet he betrayed Him
👉 Why? Because his heart was not right.
This shows:
Not everyone around you can be trusted fully
Only God is completely faithful
4. God Never Fails
Psalm 9:10 – Those who know Your name will trust in You.
God never lies
God never changes
God never disappoints
👉 If you trust God, you are safe.
5. Trust God at All Times
Psalm 20:7 – Some trust in chariots… but we trust in the name of the Lord.
Do not rely on your strength
Do not depend on your knowledge
Call upon God always
👉 Let God lead your decisions.
6. Don’t Let the Flesh Control You
The flesh (human desire) can lead you wrongly
Pride, fear, and selfishness can misguide you
👉 Allow God to control your heart.
7. Trust Brings Peace
Isaiah 26:3-4
God gives perfect peace to those who trust Him
He is the everlasting Rock
👉 When you trust God, you will not be shaken.
8. Commit Your Life to God
James 4:13
Do not plan your life without God
Always involve God in your journey
👉 Hand over everything to Him.
Important Message
Man can fail you
Your heart can deceive you
Your strength can fail
👉 But God will never fail you
Yoruba Insight:
“O le tan eniyan je, sugbon Olorun ko le tan ni je.”
→ Man can disappoint, but God never disappoints
“Ma se fi igbekele re si inu eniyan.”
→ Do not put your trust in man
“Fi igbekele re sinu Olorun.”
→ Put your trust in God
Conclusion
Your life will follow what you trust.
👉 If you trust man → disappointment

Prayer Points
Lord, help me not to trust in myself
Oluwa, ma je ki n gbekele ara mi
Lord, help me to trust You fully
Oluwa, ran mi lowo lati fi igbekele mi sinu Re
Lord, take control of my life and decisions
Oluwa, dari mi ninu gbogbo ona mi
Lord, I hand over my journey into Your hands
Final Declaration
👉 “From today, I will put my trust in the Lord, and He will never fail me.”

Text: Gospel of John 8:32, Book of Proverbs 6:16–19
Deeper Insight from the Message.

1. Truth is a Lifestyle, Not Just Words
Truth is not only what you say—it is how you live daily. Your character, actions, and decisions must reflect God’s truth.

2. The Source of Truth
God is the source of truth
His Word is truth
Anyone who lives outside God’s Word lives in error

3. Danger of Living in Lies
Lies destroy destiny
Lies separate man from God
Lies bring shame and loss of trust.

4. Lessons from Mordecai
He stood for truth even when it was difficult
He refused evil and compromise
God rewarded him openly
👉 Truth may be hard, but it always ends in victory.

5. Practical Christian Living
Speak truth at all times
Avoid exaggeration and false stories
Do not use your phone or social media to deceive
Let your “yes” be yes and your “no” be no

Yoruba Emphasis

Má ṣe jẹ́ abanijẹ → Do not be deceitful
Má ṣe fi ẹ̀rọ (fóònù) ṣe èké → Do not use your phone to lie

Word of Advice – Proverbs 6:18
From Book of Proverbs 6:18:
A heart that devises wicked imaginations, and feet that are swift in running to mischief.

👉 Guard your heart against evil thoughts and stay away from actions that lead to sin. Let your ways be upright before God.

Prayer Points.
Prayer for Truth
Lord, help me to know and walk in Your truth. Deliver me from every spirit of lying in Jesus’ name.
Prayer for a Clean Heart
Father, remove every evil imagination from my heart and make me pure and righteous.
Prayer for Right Speech
Lord, guide my tongue. Let me not speak lies but truth at all times.
Prayer for Discipline
Father, help me to use my phone, words, and actions for righteousness and not for deception.
Prayer for Grace to Stand in Truth
Lord, give me boldness to stand for truth like Mordecai, no matter the situation.

Final Advice:
God is looking for people who will stand in truth in this generation.
If you live in truth, God will defend, promote, and bless you.

👉 Know the truth, live the truth, and the truth will set you free.```*
