SUMMARY OF 2026 Pentecost Divine Service Conducted by CHIEF APOSTLE JEAN-LUC SCHNEIDER
-Cape Town

“By one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit.”
— 1 Corinthians 12:13 (NKJV)

Dear brothers and sisters,

On this Feast of Pentecost, we remember and celebrate the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Through the Holy Spirit, we can experience the presence and power of God in our lives. We thank God for sending the Holy Spirit to guide and strengthen His church.

We believe in the Church of Christ, the Body of Christ on earth, while Christ Himself is in heaven. When Jesus was on earth, He revealed the nature of God and proclaimed salvation. He cared for the poor, healed the sick, comforted sinners, and showed them the love of God. His mission was to bring people closer to God.

As believers today, our mission is to continue the work of Jesus Christ. We are called to proclaim the Gospel, help the weak, comfort the suffering, and show love to all people. Jesus experienced both success and rejection, but His strength came from His love for God and His obedience to the Father.

The Body of Christ is not limited to one church denomination, but includes all believers. The true strength of the church is not found in money, numbers, or influence, but in love for God and obedience to His will. The mission of the Apostles is to teach believers to follow the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Christ is the head of the church, and His kingdom is not of this world. Therefore, the Gospel must never be used to promote hatred, violence, or division. The Gospel is also not meant to make people rich. Jesus identified Himself with the poor and taught love, humility, and repentance.

In the Body of Christ, every member is important. Some are strong, others are weak; some are wise, others are simple. Yet everyone is needed. Instead of focusing on who is right or wrong, we should ask ourselves how we are treating the weak and the sinners among us. Jesus taught that whatever we do for the least of His people, we do for Him.

The Holy Spirit continues to work until God’s plan is fulfilled. Even if we may not see the end, let us continue to treat the weak, the poor, and sinners with love, compassion, and understanding.

Chief Apostle Helper Helge Mutschler emphasized:
• Diversity in the gifts of the Holy Spirit
• Everyone is important wherever they are
• Let us intensify pastoral care
• Let us remain steadfast in prayer

CHANGE IN GLOBAL LEADERSHIP

The New Apostolic Church has a new Chief Apostle. During the Pentecost service, Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider ordained his designated successor, Helge Mutschler.

With his ordination, Helge Mutschler assumes the spiritual leadership of the worldwide Church. Following the ordination, Chief Apostle Schneider retired after 13 years in office. The divine service in Cape Town, South Africa, was broadcast worldwide and followed by hundreds of thousands of New Apostolic Christians across the globe.

From Pentecost to Pentecost

“Receive the authority to fulfil the Petrine office,” Chief Apostle Schneider said at the ordination of his successor. In connection with this, he made a request to the new Church leader, “Lead us to Jesus Christ; bring us closer to Him.”

The transition in leadership of the international Church had been planned well in advance. As early as Pentecost 2025, Chief Apostle Schneider had assigned Helge Mutschler as Chief Apostle Helper, designating him as his successor.

Serving unity and diversity

Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider had led the international Church since 2013. His period in office was characterised by theological clarification, the further development of the concept of ministry, the strengthening of international cooperation, and a commitment to keeping the Church consistently focused on Jesus Christ in a changing world.

At the retirement of his predecessor, Chief Apostle Mutschler expressed his gratitude for the latter’s work, “In this handshake, I express the gratitude of millions.” He went on to say, “You consolidated the Church, you internationalised it, and you brought the richness and diversity to shine.”

A new chapter, same mission

Helge Mutschler was born in Tübingen, Germany, in 1974. Before entering the service of the Church full-time, Helge Mutschler worked as a lawyer and held senior positions within the self-governing body of the tax consultancy profession. He holds a doctorate in law. He received his first ministerial mandate in 1994. In 2015 then, Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider ordained him as an Apostle. Helge Mutschler is married and the father of two children.

This ordination marks the beginning of a new chapter for the New Apostolic Church. Its mission remains unchanged: to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, to prepare believers for the return of Christ, and to foster the unity of the Church.

A Legacy of Love, Faith, and Devotion: Honoring Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider.

As the sun sets on a remarkable era of spiritual leadership, our hearts are filled with a profound sense of gratitude and bittersweet emotion. Today, we celebrate the retirement of our beloved Chief Apostle, Jean-Luc Schneider, after 13 years of selfless service at the helm of our international church family.
Since 2013, Chief Apostle Schneider has been more than a leader; he has been a shepherd who guided us with wisdom, a brother who walked beside us in faith, and a beacon of hope in a changing world. His ministry was defined by a simple yet powerful message: love for Christ and love for one another.
From the vibrant congregations in Nigeria to every corner of the globe, his words have comforted the brokenhearted, inspired the youth, and strengthened the weary. He taught us that the journey of faith is not just about reaching the destination, but about the grace we show each other along the way.

To our dear Chief Apostle:
Thank you for your tireless dedication. Thank you for every prayer, every visit, and every word of encouragement. You have left an indelible mark on our souls, and your legacy will continue to bear fruit in the generations to come.
As you transition into this new chapter of your life, we wish you a Happy Retirement filled with the same peace and joy you so freely gave to us. May the Heavenly Father bless you and your family abundantly with health, rest, and His eternal presence.
We love you, we honor you, and we will forever cherish the 13 years of your beautiful journey with us.
Happy Retirement, Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider! 🇳🇬🙏💙
