Men & Brethren, it is worthy of note that our 61st Annual Convention in the year of our Lord Jesus Christ (2013) witnessed huge attendance to the Glory of the Almighty God. The crowd seeking Jesus Christ our Lord and our Saviour occupied all available space at the Redemption camp even to the extent that if we have double the size of the present auditorium on that day there will still be no space to sit or to stand. To the extent that the Redemption Camp as a whole was filled to capacity with brethren earnestly seeking JESUS, hence we have decided to build a New Auditorium for the Lord our God.

INTRODUCTION: There are seasons of life. We must all admit that seasons of our lives will con-tinue to change for as long as the Lord keeps us alive to witness them (Genesis 8:22). We will, therefore, be wise if we constantly remind our-selves that no matter what we are passing through, there will be a change because change in life is constant. Accepting this obvious fact once and for all will make us enjoy life itself. It is, therefore, important for us to understand God's role and how to live consciously.

OUTLINE
1. GOD'S ROLE
2. LIVE CONSCIOUSLY

GOD'S ROLE
From the very beginning of the creation of this earth, the Almighty God Himself made sure that there was no uniformity in His creation. He made light and darkness, day and night, male and fe-male, etc. (Genesis 1:5, 27). The differences in creation eradicated potential boredom. Can you imagine a world in which man experiences only
darkness? All these different seasons are what make life, interesting (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

Likewise, the season of joy comes when we ce brate success, victory, breakthrough, promotion, good achievements, etc. (Psalm 118:24) while the season of sorrow causes sadness, grief and lamentations as a result of loss, failure, defeats, demotion, betrayal, etc. (Psalm 116:3). Season of abundance comes with so much available to use and even share (Isaiah 7:22; 1 Kings 10:27) with others while one can also experience a season of lack and struggle (2 Kings 6:25-30). A season of health comes with physical fitness and a sound mind (Psalm 105:37; Genesis 43:28); Season of sickness can be filled with pain, ache, and dis-comfort (2 Kings 20:1; John 11:1-3).

Other seasons may include a season of progress and a season of stagnation (Exodus 14:1-3, 13-16); a season of growth and a season of deterio-ration (Genesis 41:29-31); a season of strength and a season of weakness (1 Kings 19:1-3); a season of answered prayers and season of waiting/unanswered prayers (Job 14:14-15;2 Corinthians 12:9).

LIVE CONSCIOUSLY
Knowing that there are seasons in life gives us hope that no matter the conditions that we are in, there will always be a change (Job 14:14). We should, therefore, not despair if the season we are in is not as bright and as promising as we would have liked it to be (2 Corinthians 4:8). A new season is on its way (Psalm 30:5). The new season will usher in beauty for ashes, unspeak-able joy and blessings (Isaiah 61:3).

Believers must prepare for all seasons of life 2:10). Pray for a good season and always rejoice in the fact that all things (seasons) work together for our good (Romans 8:28).

CONCLUSION: Believers are not immune to negative seasons but are blessed with the assurance of God's presence even when it does not look or feel like it (Isaiah 35:4).

MEMORY VERSE: "And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment". 1 Chronicles 12:32

BIBLE PASSAGE: Daniel 2:20–23
20 Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:
21 And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:
22 He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.
23 I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the king's matter.

INTRODUCTION: Issachar was the fifth son of Jacob and Leah, and the ninth son overall of the patriarch (Genesis 30:17–18). He had four sons (Genesis 46:13), and went with his father to Egypt, where he died and was buried. Afterwards, his descendants formed one of the tribes of Israel. By the end of the wanderings of Israel through the Sinai desert, they numbered 64,300 fighting men (Numbers 26:23–25). What is most evident is that by the time of David, they were known supremely for their wisdom. They understood the “signs of the times” and how best to live in light of them (1 Chronicles 7:1–5; 12:32).

LESSON OUTLINES
1. UNDERSTAND TIMES AND SEASONS.
2. KNOW WHAT TO DO.

UNDERSTAND TIMES AND SEASONS
The Bible tells us that there are various seasons (Genesis 8:22; Ecclesiastes 3:1–8). Times and seasons are in God’s hands and can change (Daniel 2:21a). To navigate times and seasons, God gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding (Daniel 2:21c). He reveals the deep and secret things to His children (Deuteronomy 29:29; Daniel 2:22). The men of Issachar had an understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do. It takes a mature believer to discern the times (Hebrews 5:14).

“Understanding the times” also refers to having insight into current circumstances, trends, and seasons in which we live (Romans 13:11). It involves being aware of the cultural, political, social and spiritual climate (Daniel 2:27–28), and recognising opportunities and challenges (1 Timothy 4:1–3).

KNOW WHAT TO DO
The men of Issachar understood the signs of the times and knew how to live in the light of them. To know what to do is to be full of ideas and skills, vision-driven, and strategic. Also, it is the ability to:
1. Make informed decisions: Go back to school (get a degree, master’s, PhD), attend conferences, learn a trade, acquire a skill, etc. (Genesis 26:1–3).

2. Respond appropriately to challenges and opportunities (Genesis 26:12–22; Matthew 2:13–14; John 2:3–5).

3. Be wise and authentic: live a life of impact for the cause of Christ (1 Peter 3:10–11).

4. Engage in kingdom activities (Matthew 6:33).

5. Fulfil your purpose and calling (John 18:37).

CONCLUSION: The men of Issachar were sought after for counsel on political and spiritual matters and they played an important role in the leadership of Israel. You can be like them.

QUESTIONS
1. State four ways to understand times and seasons.
2. Identify three things to do at a time.

BIBLE TEXT: JOHN 15:1-8

[1]I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

MEMORY VERSE: "Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God." 2 Timothy 3:4

BIBLE PASSAGE: 2 PETER 2:13-14

[13]And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you;
[14]Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:

INTRODUCTION: Lovers of pleasures are those who have invariably turned sensual pleasures, sensual gratifications, etc. to their god and there-fore love and serve them instead of God. These people live for pleasure without restraints and are inordinately concerned with their interests above others. Paul, in 2 Timothy 3:1-4 states, lovers of pleasures as a sign of the last days. He used the Greek word "philodonos" meaning "lovers of plea-sures" to emphasise that society will become en-grossed and obsessed with the pursuit of their comfort, happiness and pleasure. We shall exam-ine the dangers of sensual pleasures and remind ourselves of how to bring pleasure to God.

OUTLINE
1. DANGERS OF SENSUAL PLEASURES
2. CREATED FOR GOD'S PLEASURE

DANGERS OF SENSUAL PLEASURES
Sensual pleasure is a carnal or worldly pleasure that naturally extinguishes all love and sense of God (2 Timothy 3:4-5). These fleshly lusts por tend a lot of threats to its practitioners and tho around them. Such fleshly lusts include the fact that the word of God has no root in them because of the cares of this world and love for the plea-sures of life (Luke 8:14). They are careless in the way they live (Isaiah 47:8). This incessant love for pleasures often results in poverty (Proverbs 21:17). They are sold out to lustful desires (Titus 3:3). A blind eye is turned to God's judgement (Romans 1:32). These people will be judged be-cause they take pleasure in sin (2 Thessalonians 2:12; 1 John 5:17a). It is rather unfortunate that these people are dead while they live (Romans 8:6; 1Timothy 5:6). The reward of unrighteous-ness awaits them (2 Peter 2:13).

Furthermore, those who take pleasure in fleshly lusts are not subject to God's law (Romans 8:7), their growth is stunted as they refuse to leave the baby stage and still exhibit other carnal traits like strife, envy, etc. (1 Corinthians 3:1-3), they are self-gratifiers (Philippians 2:21) who run after mundane and earthly things and their god is their belly (Philippians 3:18-19; Numbers 11:4). When every man is eager only for what he can get, and anxious to keep what he has, it makes men dan-gerous to one another.

CREATED FOR GOD'S PLEASURE
Revelation 4:11 discloses that we were created for God's pleasure and we are to give Him glory and honour all the time. One of the ways to give God glory is to acknowledge Him in all that we do (Proverbs 3:6; Jeremiah 9:23-24); when this is done in complete obedience, it is accompanied by prosperity (Job 36:11). We honour God wh we surrender totally to Him (Psalm 37:5; 55:22).
We also give pleasure to God when we do the fol-lowing: live uprightly (1 Chronicles 29:17); stay away from anything that defiles (Ezra 10:11); trust Him (Psalm 36:7-8); do His will (Psalm 103:21); seek to know Him for His greatness (Psalm 111:2); fear Him and hope in His mercy (Psalm 147:10-11).

CONCLUSION: Love God and serve Him passion-ately; carnal pleasure is enmity against God. Love not the world!

2. In what ways can we bring pleasure to God?

[8]But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.

[9]These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.

LESSON INTRODUCTION: Just as it is for a tree to be identified by its fruit, so it is for any generation of people to be identified by its character (Matthew 7:16-20). Every generation has its own uniqueness. Daniel refused to concur to devastating agenda to his future which later pave the way for his life of influence and affluence in a strange land.

MEMORY VERSE: "Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase". – Proverbs 13:11

BIBLE PASSAGE: JEREMIAH 17:7-11

7 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.

8 For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

10 I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

11 As the partridge sitteth on eggs, and hatcheth them not; so he that getteth riches, and not by right, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool.

INTRODUCTION
Wealth and living a comfortable life are part of God’s plan for humanity. He created everything — whether as finished products or raw materials — needed for an enjoyable and fulfilled life (Genesis 1:20-22, 24-25; 2:8-9, 16). The abundance of resources is evident (Ecclesiastes 5:9), yet the lack of patience has driven many, especially youths, to adopt the harmful “get-rich-quick syndrome” to meet their needs. This lesson aims to explore this concept and provide guidance on resisting the temptation to pursue wealth hastily and unethically.

LESSON OUTLINES
1. THE SYNDROME
2. RESIST THE URGE

THE SYNDROME

The get-rich-quick syndrome refers to an intense and irrational desire to accumulate wealth rapidly, often without considering the consequences. This overwhelming urge to achieve financial success overnight can drive individuals to engage in unlawful activities such as gambling, Ponzi schemes, cybercrime, armed robbery, selling of body parts, kidnapping, prostitution, drug dealing, advance-fee scam/fraud, etc. (Proverbs 21:6-8).

The get-rich-quick syndrome can result in serious negative consequences, such as a rise in crimes like murder, kidnapping, and robbery; a deterioration in educational standards; the erosion of traditional values like honesty, hard work, and fairness; the rapid loss of such wealth (Proverbs 23:4-5); and lack of genuine satisfaction which often leads to sudden death (Proverbs 1:18-19).

Red flags to watch out for to avoid get-rich-quick scams include enticing offers promising large amounts of quick profit without risk; a stranger who claims to be connected through mutual acquaintances and proposes a business opportunity; and being asked to use one’s account for transfers, withdrawals, or other financial transactions (Proverbs 1:10).

RESIST THE URGE

As an individual, you can overcome the urge for quick wealth syndrome by trusting God to empower and teach you to make wealth *(Deuteronomy 8:18; Isaiah 48:17)*, assess your current situation and develop actionable improvement plans *(Luke 15:17-19)*. Stay diligent and dedicated to your goals *(Proverbs 22:29)*, seek wisdom, practice patience, cultivate contentment and uphold integrity as you work towards success *(Ecclesiastes 7:12; Hebrews 13:5; 1 Timothy 6:6)*.

Society can play a vital role in combating this syndrome by educating individuals on its channels of exposure—such as social media, newspapers, infomercials and periodicals. Efforts should also focus on promoting value-based orientation, emphasising that the means matter as much as the ends, and shifting the spotlight from wealth to integrity by ceasing to glorify individuals with questionable characters flaunting wealth *(Psalm 73:3; Proverbs 13:11)*. Additionally, creating job opportunities, empowering youths through skill acquisition, and supporting entrepreneurship are crucial steps in addressing this issue.

CONCLUSION
The get-rich-quick syndrome is a plan to make a lot of money in a short time, often with little effort and not minding the risk, beware (1 Timothy 6:10).

MEMORY VERSE:
"But the queen Vashti refused to come at the king's commandment by his chamberlains: therefore was the king very wroth, and his anger burned in him"Esther 2:12

BIBLE TEXT: ESTHER 1:10-19

[10]On the seventh day, when the heart of the king was merry with wine, he commanded Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, and Abagtha, Zethar, and Carcas, the seven chamberlains that served in the presence of Ahasuerus the king,
[11]To bring Vashti the queen before the king with the crown royal, to shew the people and the princes her beauty: for she was fair to look on.
[12]But the queen Vashti refused to come at the king's commandment by his chamberlains: therefore was the king very wroth, and his anger burned in him.
[13]Then the king said to the wise men, which knew the times, (for so was the king's manner toward all that knew law and judgment:
[14]And the next unto him was Carshena, Shethar, Admatha, Tarshish, Meres, Marsena, and Memucan, the seven princes of Persia and Media, which saw the king's face, and which sat the first in the kingdom;)
[15]What shall we do unto the queen Vashti according to law, because she hath not performed the commandment of the king Ahasuerus by the chamberlains?
[16]And Memucan answered before the king and the princes, Vashti the queen hath not done wrong to the king only, but also to all the princes, and to all the people that are in all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus.
[17]For this deed of the queen shall come abroad unto all women, so that they shall despise their husbands in their eyes, when it shall be reported, The king Ahasuerus commanded Vashti the queen to be brought in before him, but she came not.
[18]Likewise shall the ladies of Persia and Media say this day unto all the king's princes, which have heard of the deed of the queen. Thus shall there arise too much contempt and wrath.
[19]If it please the king, let there go a royal commandment from him, and let it be written among the laws of the Persians and the Medes, that it be not altered, That Vashti come no more before king Ahasuerus; and let the king give her royal estate unto another that is better than she.
