Romans 2

HOW TO BE GOD’S FAVORITE

Rom 2:11 For there is no respect of persons with God.

Many people think that God has favorites. But our text today tells us that He does not have any. The Jews are not His favorites, neither are the Gentiles.
Paul is trying to establish here that no one has a special place in God where forgiveness, righteousness and justification are concerned. And we dear add, where anything is concerned at all.
When Peter met Cornelius he said to him, “Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons” Acts 10:34
What does God respect or who does God respect? Peter answers us in verse 35 of Acts 10, “But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him”
TPT reads, “It makes no difference what race of people one belongs to. If they show deep reverence for God, and are committed to doing what’s right, they are acceptable before him.”
God does not prefer some to others!
One thing is sure, in any nation, any family, any organization, those who reverence God by doing His word, are those He will honor, they are those that will stand out!. He said Himself, “but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.” 1Samuel 2:30b.
David stood out in his family and nation. God said concerning him, “I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.” Acts 13:22
If any man chooses to do His will and to serve Him according to His word, He will be His favorite!

ROMANS 1

HOW GOD PROVED THAT JESUS WAS DEITY

Rom. 1:4
And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead.

Paul the Apostle begins the prosecution of his case in Romans by stating clearly that the Lord Jesus was God. Everything he will argue for or against in the book of Romans rises or falls on this fact. If Jesus was just a mere man, then His work of redemption will not hold, for He Himself will be a sinner. “For we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin.” Romans 3:9b.
But if He is deity, then His work of redemption will hold.

He first stated that the Lord Jesus was made of the seed of David according to the flesh. (Verse 3). That point is important because if the Lord Jesus was not a man, His work of redemption will not also hold. For only a man can redeem men.
Then he moves on verse 4, where he makes it clear that the Lord Jesus was declared or proved or determined (as in a court case, where evidence is provided and the judge then rules), that the Lord Jesus is the Son of God (God in the flesh).
That determination was done with Power (dunamis in the Greek. Inherent power), in raising Him from the dead.

You see, the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus is the greatest demonstration of God’s power (dunamis) in the world. He unveils that to us in Ephesians 1:19-20, “And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places.”
Some translations read the “immeasurable greatness of His power”. Another says “surpassing greatness of His power”. Another, “incomparable power”.

The goodness is that this power that raised Him from the dead and proved decisively that He is the Son of God is now available to you. It is to us-ward who believe.
As a believer, this power is to you-ward. You are never helpless or powerless in life and before demoniacal powers. Walk like a king and a man with power. You are a king and you are a man with power! The Lord Jesus is the Son of God!
