Renewed Thinking

A renewed thinker is a new creation in Christ who is not conformed to the world. You stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you and become inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This empowers you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in His eyes (Rom 12:2 TPT).

The renewed thinker has the mind of Christ and a renewed mindset. They have a new value system that matches the character of Christ, a God’s Kingdom mindset. Renewed thinking is not merely positive thinking, although positive thinking in the right setting is one of the mindsets of a renewed thinker. A criminal mind or a rogue can exhibit positive thinking. An immoral character can practise positive thinking very well. A wayward or disobedient person can also be a positive thinker. So being a positive thinker does not necessarily mean that your value system is right or consistent with Christ’s values.

Renewed thinking is God-consciousness, Christ-consciousness, righteousness-consciousness, holiness-consciousness, and Great Commission consciousness (Matt 6:32-33). It is Christ thinking, righteous thinking, and holy thinking. It is a Christ-centred salvation focus, because it is possible for someone to be salvation-focused for ulterior motives such as self-aggrandisement or other personal and selfish desires.

So, as a believer in Christ, pursue being a renewed thinker above merely being a positive thinker. You will have the potential and propensity to make positive impact that adds value to your immediate Christian community, the entire Body of Christ, and society at large. At every turn and in every space, your life will glorify God and the heavens will sing your praises

Visible without Visibility

To be visible means to be capable of being seen. Visibility, in this context, means prominence. So this is about having the capability of being seen but not yet being prominent. This is often the initial stage of greatness. You need to experience this phase before you can have enduring greatness. There is a trend today where some people want to achieve or own quickly what normally takes more time to achieve or own.

If you become impatient with this phase and hurry or manipulate things to push yourself into prominence because you want quick visibility, you may misuse your opportunities and possibly derail God's plan for you. There are things we need to learn and cultivate so that we can sustain the prominence God gives us. We see how King David's son, Absalom, worked his way into visibility and what eventually became of him (2 Sam 15:1-12; 18:9-17).

Joseph moved from Potiphar's house to prison, and then to the palace in Egypt. David went from being a shepherd boy at the backside of the desert to kingship. Paul, after his call and conversion, went away for some years before becoming widely known (Galatians 1:15-17). These were all visible at the backside, doing exploits without pursuing visibility. When the time was ripe, God orchestrated their visibility. Let God engineer your visibility. Let Christ take the lead in bringing you into prominence.

You might not be getting the traction you want. The followership might not be the numbers you expect after several appearances, postings, and recognitions. Your actions or performances may not be acknowledged or validated by those you expect. Don't back down. When you are visible without visibility, doing the exploits that can eventually make you prominent, keep at it. Remain focused. Don't get tired. Wait for your set time. It will surely come.

When that visibility comes, your prominence will be grand. The character of Christ in you will sustain you, and you will not abuse your opportunities. You will have sustained impact, and God will be glorified through you. In Jesus' Name, Amen

Importance of Foolishness

Foolishness is an apt description of unwise behaviour or a lack of sound judgement. A person may have high intelligence but choose not to use good judgement. When someone with normal or high intelligence refuses to exercise sound judgement, their behaviour or actions are considered foolish. People may say they are making a crazy move.

If you study the journey to success of renowned business moguls, pioneers, and entrepreneurs, you will discover that some of them made crazy decisions and took actions that appeared foolish but produced phenomenal results. Abram left his comfort zone and support system. David chose a small stone against Goliath. Peter agreed to walk on water (Matt 14:28). None of these decisions seemed to make sense naturally, but they were acts of yielding to God's leading.

If you will walk with God to achieve some of the things the Lord has for you, you will sometimes have to operate at a level that appears foolish. There is “foolishness” that is important to your success, and there is foolishness that is detrimental to your success. The important one comes from following God's lead. The other comes from following wishful thinking.

Walking by faith is not an evidence-based process. When you step into it, everyone, or at least the majority, may see foolishness. You yourself may even question your choice. But that is where you switch on your faith torch, knowing that it is not wishful thinking at work, but obedience to God's leading. Only believe (Mk 5:36).

Your actions may look foolish. The answer you desire may not yet be evident or visible, but you must believe it, speak it, and pursue it until you see it. Amen.

Correct Your Lens

You cannot continue to see yourself through the lens of your past or present. You must see yourself through the lens of the finished work of Christ. This is the lens that helps you see the future you truly have.

Looking at yourself through the lens of your past makes you see yourself as unqualified, unfit, and defeated. You do not see the good and great things, ideas, and initiatives that can be expressed through your life. You reduce your performance level. You minimise your power, capacity, and ability to do. You underrate yourself.

As long as the disciples saw themselves through the lens of their past and present circumstances, they could not express all the capabilities they had in Christ. So Jesus corrected them at different times when they behaved or performed below their In-Christ realities (Lk 8:24-25; Lk 24:25-27; Mk 16:14-18).

Continue to see yourself in the light of who you are according to all that Christ has done for you. We are vested with God’s Kingdom authority and power. We have the wisdom, insights, and creative capabilities of the Holy Spirit. We have the protection of Christ. See the creative abilities you now have, the wealth of knowledge and wisdom at your disposal, and the invincible power you carry in Christ. You will operate on another level!

Be God-compliant

As believers, we want to please God. We want to be God-compliant in a world where many things are skewed against us. We have to overcome the wrong ways of the world in order to please the One who has called us. We encounter all kinds of compromises, but because we trust in Jesus Christ and obey God's commandments, we are able to win over the wrong ways of the world.

God's commandments are not grievous. They are not difficult to obey (1 John 5:3). He gave us two commandments in which all other commandments are encapsulated. The first is to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind. The second is to love your neighbour as yourself (Matt 22:37-40). When you obey these, you keep away from things that are ungodly and things that are detrimental to others.

When we obey God's commandments, we are expressing our love for God. We are also able to win against the wrong ways of this world because we trust in Jesus the Christ. Do not get into a struggle over how to overcome tempting compromises. Do what the two commandments say, and you will see how easily you become God-compliant.

Knowing that you are born of God, and that you have put all your trust in Christ, you can be assured that His commandments are not difficult to obey. You become God-compliant, and you receive your victory over this world. In Jesus' Name. Amen. Hallelujah!
