WITH CHRIST ALONE: GOD LEADS IN THE DARK
DEVOTIONAL FOR TODAY
SCRIPTURE READING
`And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.`

INTRO
WITH CHRIST ALONE: GOD LEADS IN THE DARK
We hate not knowing...
GPS, Google Maps, “Plan B” — City life demands direction.
God says, “Follow Me blind.” Because sometimes the clearest path is the one you’ve never seen.
Isaiah 42:16 is God’s promise to the disoriented, disconnected and disgruntled.
Not just the physically blind — the spiritually stuck. The ones who say, “Lord, I don’t know how this ends.”
READING FOR TODAY:
4 PROMISES WHEN YOU CAN'T SEE THE WAY:
1. HE CHOOSES THE WAY — `I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not`
You didn’t pick this job loss. This sickness. This delay. This dilemma on social issues. This family crisis. But God did pick the route.
`With Christ alone`, you don’t need to know the road. You need to know the Guide.
Abraham left Ur with no address — Heb. 11:8. Obedience plus follow-up directives > Information. Just trust and obey and let Him take the lead while you follow!
2. HE OWNS THE PATH — `I will lead them in paths that they have not known`
New paths feel unsafe because they’re unfamiliar, not because they’re wrong.
The Red Sea had no bridge. The walls of Jericho had no gate. The “new path” is where miracles live.
`Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way”` — Isaiah 30:21.
Follow the way of the Lord and safety is guaranteed!
3. HE CHANGES THE VIEW — `I will make darkness light before them`
He doesn’t just walk with you in the dark. He changes the dark around you.
Midnight for Paul and Silas became a prison-shaking light show — Acts 16:25-26.
`With Christ alone beloved`, darkness is not absence of light. It’s the stage for His light. God's light doesn't go out anymore! Be in the light and you'll never walk in darkness again! A Hymn says, 879 - Lead, Kindly Light
1 Lead, kindly light, amid the encircling gloom, lead Thou me on; the night is dark, and I am far from home; lead Thou me on. Keep Thou my feet; I do not ask to see the distant scene; one step enough for me.
2 I was not ever thus, nor prayed that Thou shouldst lead me on; I loved to choose and see my path; but now lead Thou me on. I loved the garish day, and, spite of fears, pride ruled my will: remember not past years.
3 So long thy power hath blest me, sure it still will lead me on, o'er moor and fen, o'er crag and torrent, till the night is gone, and with the morn those angel faces smile, which I have loved long since, and lost awhile!
4 Meantime, along the narrow rugged path, Thyself hast trod, Lead, savior, lead me home in childlike faith, home to my God. to rest forever after earthly strife In the calm light of everlasting life
4. HE STRAIGHTENS THE MESS — `and crooked things straight`
The crooked contract. The bent relationship. The twisted report from the doctor. The fearsome pestilence. The heartache.
God specializes in straightening what life bent. `Every valley shall be exalted` — Isaiah 40:4.
Your “crooked” is His resume. Bring Him the impossible. He's able to do the unthinkable and break the bounds of the enemy!
THE GUARANTEE: `These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.`
He doesn’t just point. He walks. He doesn’t just start. He finishes.
`He who has begun a good work in you will complete it` — Phil. 1:6.
PRAYER
_Father, today I am blind. I don’t know the way through this month, this decision, this pain. But You do. Lead me in paths I have not known. Turn my darkness to light and my crooked places straight. Thank You that You do not forsake the confused. With Christ alone, I have a Guide. In Jesus’ name, Amen._
TODAY'S PRACTICE — Sabbath Walk
1. Name the darkness: “Lord, I can’t see how ___ will work out.”
2. Claim the promise: Say Isaiah 42:16 out loud — personalize it: “You will make darkness light _before me_.”
3. Take one step: Do the next right thing you DO know. Prayer. Obedience. Rest.
He handles the map. You handle the trust.
CONCLUSION
