Ministering: Pastor Adeboye
Topic: Going Higher (part 19)
Text: 1 Kings 18:1
“Go show yourself to Ahab” means:
1. The higher you go, the tougher your exams become.
* The closer you get to God, the more difficult the instructions you receive.
* As you grow in God, you get tougher instructions. 1 Kings 17: 2-6
+ God's instructions to Abraham became tougher as he grew:
- To leave all that was familiar. Genesis 12: 1-3
- To sacrifice his son. Genesis 22: 1-2
+ God's instructions to Moses grew tougher as he grew:
- Strike the rock for water. Exodus 17: 1-6
- Speak to the rock for water. Numbers 20: 1-11
* Exams are always proportional to the ability of the students. 1 Corinthians 10:13
+ Job's examinations grew tougher:
- Job suffered loss.
- Pain was added to Job's suffering. Job 42: 1-10
2. To every examination, there is a reward.
* Each time a student writes an exam, it is so as to go higher.
+ God swore by Himself to bless and multiply Abraham for passing his exams. Genesis 22: 1-18
+ Job got double for all he lost after he passed his test. Job 42: 12-16
* The bigger the exam, the greater the reward!
* When examinations cease, promotions cease.
* When you no longer have tests, there will be no testimonies. Philippians 3: 13-14
+ God was essentially telling Elijah that if he refused to show himself to Ahab, there will be no rain. 1 Kings 18:1
- If Elijah had disobeyed, he would have held the whole nation to ransom, causing them to suffer more famine.
- Perhaps, you are the one person God is waiting for, to use to deliver your nation. 2 Kings 7: 1-11
* You can determine the fate of your family. Genesis 6: 1-26
* Your action/inaction can determine what will happen to your family.
+ Gehazi decided to collect wealth by fraudulent means. As a result, everyone born in his generation ended up a l***r. He brought a generational curse upon his family. 2 Kings 5: 20-27
- Would you bring a generational curse or a generational blessing upon your family?
Salvation Call:
You can choose to give your life to Jesus now if you haven't done so, and come under the generational blessings of Abraham.
