Prayer

Heavenly Father, we express our gratitude for revealing your will through the scriptures. We humbly request your blessing as we engage with your Word. Topic: Walking Upright in the Presence of God

Text: Genesis 17:1 – “When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, ‘I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless.’”

Introduction

To walk upright in God’s presence is to live a life that honors Him in every way. It is not just about outward actions but about inward purity, integrity, and obedience. God requires His children to walk in truth and holiness, depending on His grace.

1. The Call to Uprightness

God told Abraham: “Walk before Me and be blameless” (Gen. 17:1).

This shows that God desires relationship, not just rituals.

Upright walking means acknowledging that God sees all things.

2. The Characteristics of Upright Walking

Obedience: Keeping God’s commandments (Deut. 10:12–13).

Integrity: Living consistently in public and private (Prov. 10:9).

Faith: Trusting God’s promises even when circumstances are hard (Heb. 11:8).

3. Case Study: Daniel (Daniel 6:1–23)

Daniel walked upright before God even in a corrupt environment.

He refused to defile himself (Dan. 1:8).

He prayed faithfully despite the king’s decree (Dan. 6:10).

God honored his upright walk by shutting the lions’ mouths (Dan. 6:22).

4. Blessings of Walking Upright

Protection: “He is a shield to those who walk uprightly” (Prov. 2:7).

Favor: Uprightness brings divine promotion (Psalm 84:11).

Eternal Reward: God’s presence forever (Psalm 15:1–2).

Conclusion
To walk upright before God is a daily commitment. Like Abraham and Daniel, we are called to live blamelessly, trusting God’s grace to keep us holy. When we do, we enjoy His favor and protection.
