Many people pray, yet not everyone truly prays in a way that touches heaven. Jesus warned that it is possible to become a prayer hypocrite — someone who prays, but whose true audience is not God. When prayer becomes a performance meant to impress people, heaven is no longer the target. And once men become your audience, you may still get answers, but you lose something greater — the rewards of prayer.
God does not only respond to prayer with answers. He also attaches rewards to prayer — dimensions of spiritual authority, intimacy, and divine inheritance. Hypocritical prayer may receive answers, but it never qualifies for spiritual rewards. Heaven responds deeply only to those who seek God, not attention. Jesus also warned against mechanical, empty repetitions — prayers spoken without heart engagement.
Real prayer is not powered by volume, repetition, or length; it is powered by alignment of the heart. Heaven receives prayer not as words, but as spiritual incense that rises from your inner man. This reveals a critical truth: your heart is your altar. God does not harvest prayers from your mouth — He harvests them from your heart. Anything that contaminates your heart weakens your priesthood. Bitterness, anger, jealousy, offense, and emotional wounds are meant to poison your altar and affect your prayers.
That is why Jesus commanded: Enter your closet and shut the door. The closet is not your bedroom — it is your heart. To shut the door means to shut out emotional pollution, offenses, distractions, and inner storms. Satan’s greatest strategy is not to stop your prayers — it is to poison your altar. When your heart becomes light, tender, and free, prayer begins to rise like incense, and heaven responds.
Before you pray, guard your altar. Release bitterness. Shut the door. Clean your heart. Because powerful prayer does not start with words — it starts with the condition of your heart. A heavy and bitter heart will find it difficult to ascend in prayer – only a light heart can be lifted by the Spirit. Satan knows this. That is why he targets your emotions. That is why betrayals suddenly happen when you are rising spiritually. That is why offenses appear when you are about to step into deeper dimensions.
His goal is simple — to colonize your heart which is your prayer altar. To occupy your inner sanctuary with bitterness, anger, offense, pain, jealousy, and resentment, so that your prayers become polluted at the source. You can pray for hours and still not hear God because your heart is full of bitterness and rage. Many people have unknowingly protected bitterness for years, not realizing that they were shutting down their own prayer altar.
Your secret place must be sacred, exclusive, and light. It must be free. God wants to meet you there — not your pain, not your anger, not your past, not your wounds, not your bitterness. Just you and Him. You must learn to let people go. Let the offense go. Let the pain go. Let the betrayal go. Let the resentment go. Because the price of holding bitterness is the loss of spiritual sensitivity. The price of emotional heaviness is spiritual silence. And the price of refusing to forgive is the closing of your own heavens.
When your heart becomes light, your prayers become incense again. When your heart becomes free, your spirit begins to rise again. When your heart becomes clean, your voice regains authority again. So today, shut the door. Shut the door against bitterness. Shut the door against resentment. Shut the door against offense. Shut the door against every emotional weight that has been poisoning your altar.
Free your secret place. Make your heart light again. Make your altar pure again. Because only a light heart can rise. Only a free heart can ascend. Only a clean altar can attract heaven. This is a practical teaching that you need about the subject of making effective and fervent prayer. The teaching by Apostle Arome Osayi highlights how to pray effectively and get results, answers, and rewards to prayers. He taught the two biblical things you must avoid before prayer and also one thing you must do as you start a prayer enterprise - this teaching will open your eyes and show you the blessedness of dealing and engaging with God.
This is where true profit in the kingdom begins. A pure, focused, and surrendered heart creates the atmosphere for divine encounters and answered prayers.
