Last Thursday night, I ran out of fuel on Third Mainland Bridge, 11pm. Phone at 2%, no power bank… I want to tell you what happened next.

I pushed the hazard lights on and sat in the car, trying to think. Cars were flying past me. Nobody slowed down, not one person. Lagos at night on that bridge is a different kind of alone.

After about 15 minutes, I saw headlights slow down behind me. A danfo bus. Old and battered. One headlight slightly dim.

The driver came down. Big man, rough-looking, dirty shirt and chewing something. My first thought was fear. My second thought was, I had no choice. He looked at my car, looked at me. Said, “Fuel?”

I nodded. He didn’t say anything else, just went back to his bus. I thought he was leaving. He wasn’t…

He came back with a small gallon, maybe two litres… old plastic container with a rubber pipe attached. Like he kept it specifically for situations like this.

He poured it into my tank without being asked… without negotiating, without even looking at me for approval. I started the car. It came on.

I came down immediately and opened my wallet. I had ₦15,000 on me ($11). I held it out to him. He looked at the money, then looked at me and shook his head…

I thought he wanted more. I told him it was all I had. He said, “Keep am.” Just like that. Keep am…

I stood there confused. This man just helped a stranger on a bridge at 11pm and didn’t want anything. I asked him why.

He leaned against his bus, took a long breath and said something I have not stopped thinking about since…

He said in 1998, he broke down on that same bridge. Nighttime, pregnant wife in the passenger seat, no phone, no money, no fuel.

He said he sat there for almost an hour, crying and praying. Then a man in a big car stopped. Suit and tie. Looked like someone who had no business stopping for a danfo driver, but he stopped.

Bought fuel from somewhere, came back and filled his tank. Refused every penny he offered… Said only one thing before he drove off: “Pass am forward.” That was it. (Pass it forward.)

The man in the suit drove away, and he never saw him again. Twenty-five years, he carried those three words. Third Mainland Bridge. Waiting for his own turn to use them.

I stood on that bridge and didn’t know what to say. This man had been holding onto someone else’s kindness for 25 years. And he chose me to give it to a stranger in a car he had never seen before.

He got back into his danfo, gave me one nod and drove off into the night. I stood there watching his one dim headlight disappear, holding ₦15,000 I couldn’t give away.

I sat back in my car for a long time before I drove off, thinking about the man in the suit in 1998, who had no idea what he started. A chain of kindness that crossed 25 years and found me on the same bridge.

I don’t know who that danfo driver is. I don’t know his name.

But somewhere in Lagos tonight, he is driving that old bus, with one dim headlight, and a heart that has been quietly changing lives since 1998...

- Man recounts how a kind danfo driver rescued him after his car ran out of fuel on Third Mainland Bridge.

ACTS OF TRUE LOVE

True love is not merely expressed in word but demonstrated through action.

The Parable of the Good Samaritan — Luke 10:25–37

The Good Samaritan teaches us that genuine love means:

* See the needy — Be sensitive to those who are struggling around you.
* Stop for the hurting — Do not ignore people who are wounded or in distress.
* Serve the forgotten — Reach out to those whom others have neglected.
* Give to the vulnerable — Offer your time, resources, care and support to those in need.
* Follow up with the broken — Do not just help someone once; continue to show genuine concern.
* Lead people to Christ — Let our love become a pathway through which others encounter Jesus.

When was the last time you checked on your neighbour, noticed their struggles, and genuinely showed concern?

Sometimes, the person God wants us to help is not far away. They may be right beside us.

True love sees. True love stops. True love serves. True love gives. True love follows up. True love leads people to Christ.

Jesus concluded the story with a powerful command:

“Go, and do likewise.” — Luke 10:37

ACCOMPLISH MY DREAM
Every God-given dream begins as a seed in the heart, but it takes faith, prayer, discipline, patience, and perseverance to see that dream become a reality. Having a dream is not enough; we must be committed to pursuing it with God.
God’s timing may not always be our timing, but delay does not mean denial.
Joseph had a dream, but his journey to its fulfilment passed through rejection, slavery, and prison. Yet, God ultimately turned what was meant for evil into something good Genesis 50:20.
Your present situation does not have the final word over your future.
To accomplish your dream:
Commit your plans to God. Proverbs 16:3.
Believe that God can do it. Mark 9:23.
Work diligently. Proverbs 22:29.
Do not give up when challenges come. Galatians 6:9.
Keep your eyes on Jesus. Hebrews 12:1-2.
Your dream may look impossible today, but with God, possibilities are greater than limitations.
Therefore, do not abandon the vision because of temporary obstacles. What God has planted in you, He is able to bring to completion. Keep praying, keep believing, keep working, and keep moving forward.

Say this 🙏 along with me
I shall accomplish my God-given dream. Every obstacle standing against my fulfilment shall be removed. I shall not die with my vision. By the grace of God, I will see my dreams become reality, and my life shall bring glory to God, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Philippians 1:6 “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

Amen….
