*THE BREAD OF LIFE TODAY -- 22/08/2024*

*Proverbs 8:10-11*

"Receive my instruction, and not silver; And knowledge rather than choice gold. For wisdom is better than rubies; And all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it".

*INSPIRATION ON TODAY'S VERSE*

Wisdom speaks candidly and plainly. *In verses 10-11*, she invites the “sons of man” to pursue her over wealth. She invites mankind to value her above riches. Knowing that the human race is infatuated with making money and lots of it, she plainly puts her value higher than that which we value the most.

Wisdom is better than jewels, better than money. You think about how much you might desire more money or more things, more possessions, nicer possessions, and God is saying wisdom is infinitely better than this. All that you may desire.

In particular, those who pursue wealth and worldliness at all costs will be left without hope. Those who seek righteousness not only benefit their own lives, they are a blessing to others. Their generosity helps their neighbor, and in return they can expect help in times of crisis. Better seek wisdom and not gold and silver -- not wealth and riches.

*MY PRAYER*

Heavenly Father, thank You that in Christ dwells all the wisdom of the Godhead bodily, and I am part of His spiritual Body and one with Him, by faith. I pray that I would be granted wisdom to choose the good and eschew the evil. May my life be rooted in Him so deeply, that His mind will influence my actions, attitudes, words, and behaviour, so that Christ is seen in me. To His praise and glory, *AMEN*🙏🙏🙏

*THE BREAD OF LIFE TODAY-- 21/08/2024*

*Psalm 91:4-6*

"He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday".

*INSPIRATION ON TODAY'S VERSE*

Psalm 91:4-6 encourages us to place our trust in God's unfailing love and protection. It assures us that even in the midst of challenges and uncertainties, we can find refuge under His wings. We can rely on His faithfulness as our shield and rampart, knowing that He is greater than any threat we may face.

As Christians, we must not fear the signs of the times. Despite the tragedies we see on TV, we must remember all that God has done for us. We must pray and believe that He will protect us. We must have faith, for without it, we cannot please God. Let us not forget the promises of God and the stories of His deliverance. These are the times that try our faith, but God will bless us all.

*MY PRAYER*

Heavenly Father, we ask for Your forgiveness for our moments of doubt and our lack of understanding of Your promises. Help us to walk confidently, trusting in You and Your Word. Remind us that You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and a sound mind. We pray this in Jesus' name.

*Amen*🙏🙏🙏

*THE BREAD OF LIFE TODAY -- 15/08/2024*

*Psalms 133:1*

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!”

*INSPIRATION ON TODAY'S VERSE*

King David declares it is GOOD when God's people live together in unity *(Psalm 133:1)*. We know that God is abundantly good and everything he created is good and reflects in some measure his own glory and goodness. God loves us by willing good to us

Conflict can be hard to resolve, but *Psalm 133* reminds us of the joy of unity. When we come together, it can be like a refreshing mist that quenches our souls and brings peace. We can experience a deep and heartfelt joy when we can put aside our differences and come together in agreement. Let us strive for unity and peace, for it is good and pleasant and brings refreshment.

*MY PRAYER*

Lord, may I be a source of comfort and strength to my fellow believers in Christ. May my words bring encouragement and my actions bring healing. I thank You for the times when You have worked in miraculous ways to bring refreshment and healing to situations that seemed hopeless. *Amen*🙏🙏🙏

*HERE I AM SEND ME*

*“I heard the voice of the Lord say, ‘Whom will I send? Who will go on our behalf?’ I answered, ‘Here I am, send me!’” —Isaiah 6:8*

*We need to ask ourselves this question: “Am I available?” Often, we are not. We don’t want to accept responsibility to do what is asked of us.*

This was also true in Bible times. Moses didn’t want to go to Egypt to be the spokesman for leading the people out of their Egyptian captivity. He offered all kinds of excuses. Gideon questioned why God would choose him to head up the means for freeing his people from their oppressors, when he came from such a poor tribe. Jonah ran away from the task God called him to. When it was time to anoint Saul king, they found him hiding!

*God is looking for available people to do his work.* Jesus said, *“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few” (Matthew 9:37)*. There is so much work to be done! When it comes to investing our time, talent, and treasure for a life that will echo into eternity, are we willing to respond, *“Here I am. Send me!”* when God asks, “Whom shall I send?”

When Isaiah heard that question, he was ready to be used by God.

*Today, ask yourself:*

*What opportunities is God giving me to serve him? How am I responding?*

*O LORD, OPEN MY EYES*

*“The prophet’s attendant got up early in the morning. When he went outside there was an army surrounding the city, along with horses and chariots. He said to Elisha, ‘Oh no, my master! What will we do?’ He replied, ‘Don’t be afraid, for our side outnumbers them.’ Then Elisha prayed, ‘O Lord, open his eyes so he can see.’ The Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he saw that the hill was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.” —2 Kings 6:16–17*

We are in a spiritual battle. Seemingly insurmountable circumstances perplex us, frighten us, and unsettle us. Life seems like a planned obstacle course intended to test us and strengthen our faith.

*In today’s passage, Elisha’s servant was afraid when they were surrounded by the Syrian army.* Elisha asked the Lord to open the eyes of the servant so he could see the spiritual reality of their advantage.

*The world we see is in tremendous conflict and turmoil.* In many ways it is the outward manifestation of the unseen battles that are taking place in the spiritual world. And yet, God is in control!

*Like Elisha’s servant, we need to have our spiritual eyes opened.* We need to see the spiritual battle and also God’s solution. Our defense against Satan’s schemes is to remember that *“the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world” (1 John 4:4)*. We are covered by the blood of Christ. *“The name of the Lord is likea strong tower; the righteous person runs to it and is set safely on high (Proverbs 18:10).* God has us firmly in his grip.

*Today, ask yourself:*

*Am I aware that I am in a spiritual battle to derail me from fulfilling God’s purpose for my life? What steps am I taking to rely on God’s perspective and power?*

*DO WHATEVER HE TELLS YOU TO DO:*

*“Whatever he tells you, do it.” —John 2:5*

*Obedience to God always results in blessing.* Many times we experience a blessing far beyond any reasonable expectation.

*This happened when Jesus turned the water into wine at a wedding feast.* The host of the wedding feast ran out of wine and the mother of Jesus told the servants that whatever Jesus told them to do, they should do it. When they obeyed the instructions of Jesus to pour the water into large jars, Jesus turned the water into the best tasting wine of the wedding feast. This was totally unexpected since the best wine was usually consumed at the beginning of the celebration.

*Professions of our faith in God mean little without confirming acts of obedience that are in response to our relationship with Jesus Christ.* Our obedience comes in response to our love for him. As we practice listening to him and obeying him, he will reveal more of himself to us.

*When we read God’s Word and put it into practice in our daily lives, we understand more and more what the Lord wants us to do.* We will become obedient from the heart—a heart deeply planted in the soil of God’s Word. We will develop a desire to do whatever he tells us to do.

*Today, ask yourself:*

*In what ways am I currently doing the things that God wants me to do?*
