TWO WOMEN ON A TRAIN

A Must Read Story.

Two middle-aged women sat next to each other on a train. One was in a very good mood, but the other was sad and depressed. The cheerful woman who was having fun reading a book, started laughing as she read something amusing.

Meanwhile, the sad woman became filled with envy seeing how cheerful the other woman was. She said to her.

"You seem to be having such a great time... How I wish I could be happy as you are. But sadly, life isn't fair to everyone"

The cheerful woman closed her book and spoke very gently.

"I'm terribly sorry for what you're going through right now. If you need to talk about it, I'm here for you"

At that moment, the sad woman heaved a sigh, then opened up to her.

"I have a child with a disability. It's so difficult to deal with the feelings of shame, guilt, hopelessness and depression. I wish I could change everything. It just hurts a lot"

When the cheerful woman saw that the sad woman had started crying, she consoled her.

"This must be so hard for you. But it always helps to look on the bright side of life. It's a choice you'll never regret"

Then the sad woman said.
"Unless you are raising a child with a disability, you don't understand the pain I go through everyday. The pain of loosing all hopes and dreams you have for your child. You don't understand because you're such a lucky woman"

The cheerful woman became quiet afterwards. Shortly, she reached her destination and got off the train. A few moments after she had left, the sad woman noticed a piece of paper carefully placed beside her. She read it.

"From the cheerful lady seated next to you. I just want you to know that I have three disabled children, and I understand three times the pain you feel. The only difference between the two of us is that I have accepted my reality".

Many of us are still sad and depressed because we avoid facing facts and refuse to accept reality. We always want to change our current situation and in that way, we get consumed by negative emotions- such as; guilt, shame, bitterness, frustration, hopelessness, irritations, etc. The truth is that, we can't change everything in our lives, no matter how hard we try. And the moment we realize that certain things will remain the way they are and should be accepted, we will be happy humans in the world. Learn to accept your own reality and see the big difference it would make in your life.

Appreciate your brakes.

Appreciate your brakes.

Once in a physics class, the teacher asked the students, “Why do we have brakes in a car?”

Varied answers were received:

“To stop”

“To reduce speed”

“To avoid collision” etc.,

But the best answer was,

“To enable you to drive faster”

Give it a thought.

For a moment assume you have no brakes in your car then how fast will you drive your car?

It’s because of brakes that we can dare to accelerate, dare to go fast and reach destinations we desire.

At various points in life, we find our parents, teachers, mentors & friends etc. questioning our progress, direction or decision. We consider them as irritants or consider such inquiries as “brakes” to our ongoing work.

But, remember, it’s because of such questions (periodical brakes) that you have managed to reach where you are today. Without brakes, you could have skid, lost direction or met with an unfortunate accident.

Appreciate the “brakes” in your life. Use them wisely!😊😊

What a world of vanity.

What a world of vanity.

A man took a loan, bought a house, it was about to be seized, just because he could not pay the loan as agreed. He posted his situation on Facebook looking for help, but all he could get was zero comments.

So he sent 250 messages to his contact list requesting a loan of #200,000 naira. Unfortunately only 10 people responded. 6 out of 10 said they could not help him. And only 1 out of 4 who promised to help and gave him some money. The other 3 gave no excuse and never took his calls. In the end, he was ejected.

He did not have a place to sleep. He walked in the dark looking for options and, unfortunately, a thief stole his empty purse with his ID. The thief was badly hit by a car in high speed as he fled and died without his body being identified. Only the bag containing the identity card served as a marker. The next day the news spread quickly around that he had died.

2500 people posted on his Facebook wall how they knew him and how kind he was. A committee was formed by his"faithful" friends who raised #750,000 naira to feed people at his funeral.
His work colleagues organized themselves and brought #1.5m naira for the coffin, the tents and the chairs. He had to be buried in a coffin worth #350,000 but as they hastily bought it there was a man who sold it to them for #200,000 naira saying it was his contribution.

The family met again, it was a rare opportunity for the family to meet again. Then there was a sitting. For the funeral, the family contributed #400,000 naira. Everyone wanted to volunteer to show that they were participating. They printed t-shirts and polos for more than 85,000 people

Now imagine the scene when he decided to show himself up the day of his burial ..... Hmmm

So is life today, a sad reality but part of our daily lives. You who read this story, change your mentality.

Help your brother/sister when he/she needs you. Do not wait for their death to show them your love. It will not help them

VALUE ME NOW THAT I AM ALIVE.
