The Health Benefits of Salvation
Many of us are unaware of the connection between salvation and health.
I, too, was ignorant of this until I read an article this morning that provided a sudden insight.
Before you assume this is another one of my didactic pieces because it mentions salvation, let me assure you it's not.
If you read on, you'll see what I mean.
However, that doesn't mean I can't discuss it.
While my primary focus is on health, did you know that salvation can positively impact your health?
Allow me to explain this concept before diving into today's main topic.
When you're truly saved, you avoid activities and habits that predispose you to various health issues.
For instance, salvation leads you to abstain from smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, unsafe and illicit s*x, gambling, and similar behaviors.
Do you see how salvation can significantly improve and help maintain one's health?
Moving on, the relationship between salvation and health is akin to walking.
Yes, you heard me right—walking.
To clarify, let me explain the concept further.
Walking, an aerobic exercise, is excellent for both the body and mind.
Similarly, to maintain one's salvation, one must walk closely with the Lord in the light of His word.
It's no wonder the Bible urges us to "work out our salvation with fear and trembling" (Philippians 2:12c).
The "work" referred to in this scripture, among other things, means walking closely with God.
When you walk closely with God, you'll be careful to avoid the aforementioned habits and acts that could jeopardize your health.
Here's a profound observation by Søren Kierkegaard on the power of walking: "Above all, do not lose your desire to walk: every day I walk myself into a state of well-being and walk away from every illness; I have walked myself into my best thoughts, and I know of no thought so burdensome that one cannot walk away from it.
Even if one were to walk for one's health and it were constantly one station ahead—I would still say: Walk!"
Therefore, you need to ask yourself if you are walking.
If yes, then keep walking, both spiritually and physically.
Think about it, be wise!
