The consciousness that we have been justified by faith changes how we live. We are not trying to earn acceptance with God or establish our own righteousness. We stand in the righteousness Christ has given us, knowing that our right standing with God rests on His finished work, not our performance. Because we have peace with God through Christ, we can approach Him boldly even as He continues to perfect our walk.

This understanding of our right standing with God also changes how we respond to tribulation. As we remain steadfast, perseverance is pressed out, character is formed and character strengthens our confident hope. We can therefore rejoice in tribulation, not because the situation is pleasant, but because we know that our standing with God is secure and that He is in us and with us through it all.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY, NIGERIA!

Today, we celebrate our nation and lift Nigeria before the Lord in prayer.

We pray for our leaders, that God will grant them wisdom, fairness and justice. May He order their steps and guide every decision they make for the good of the nation. We pray for stability in the affairs of Nigeria and that the peace of God will reign abundantly across our land.

We pray that God’s sovereignty will be made evident in Nigeria and that His purposes for this nation will be fulfilled.

We pray for every Nigerian, that the love of God will fill our hearts and that we will walk in unity, responsibility, and respect for those in authority.

We declare an end to pain, struggle and every darkness that has prevailed over our nation. By the power in the name of Jesus, may every cloud of darkness give way to light, hope, peace, and restoration.

Nigeria is restored to greatness by the power of God.

Happy 66th Independence Day, Nigeria!
