As we begin the Novena to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on the 4th through 12th of June, we invite you to journey with us…

The Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary is a profound celebration in the Church that invites the faithful to contemplate the interior life of the Blessed Virgin Mary; her purity, her total love for God, and her unwavering fidelity to Christ. Celebrated shortly after the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, it highlights the deep spiritual union between the Heart of the Son and that of His Mother.

At the heart of this feast is Mary’s “yes” (fiat), a heart open to God’s will, marked by humility, contemplation, suffering, and compassionate love for humanity. Devotion to her Immaculate Heart grew especially through the Church’s reflection on Scripture (cf. Luke 2:19, 51) and was further strengthened by Marian apparitions, particularly at Fátima, where Mary called for prayer, repentance, and consecration to her Heart.

*Connection with the Claretians*

The Congregation of Missionary Sons of the Immaculate Heart of Mary were founded by Anthony Mary Claret in 1849. From their origin, they have carried a special devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, even taking their very name from it. For the Claretians, Mary’s Heart is not only an object of devotion but a model of missionary discipleship, a heart that listens, receives the Word, and carries it to the world with zeal.

Thus, the feast holds a particular significance for them: it is a renewal of their identity and mission, to evangelize with the same love, courage, and interior fire that burned in Mary’s Heart.

*A Call to the Novena and the Feast*

The celebration is not merely devotional but deeply transformative. The novena leading to the feast is a time of prayer, reflection, and spiritual preparation, inviting the faithful to:

Grow in interior purity and trust in God

Embrace repentance and conversion

Imitate Mary’s attentive and obedient heart

Participating in the novena and feast is therefore a call to consecration; to entrust one’s life to God through Mary, allowing her Heart to shape our own. In a world often marked by distraction and hardness of heart, this devotion invites us into a life of deep love, silence, and mission.

In essence: The Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, especially within the Claretian tradition, is a celebration of a heart fully given to God and a summons for every Christian to become, like Mary, a living witness of God’s love in the world.

In this 3 days of prayer and supplications to the Holy Spirit, we are called to reflect on 3 Gifts…

The gifts of Knowledge, Understanding, and Counsel are the Spirit’s light for seeing, grasping, and living God’s truth.

Knowledge lets us see creation and events through God’s eyes - “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge”.
*Understanding* goes deeper, piercing beyond facts to the meaning of God’s plan, as Jesus opened the disciples’ minds to understand the Scriptures.
*Counsel* guides our choices, helping us discern what’s right here and now, like the Spirit who “will guide you into all truth”.

In the Novena to the Holy Spirit, we pray: _“Come, Spirit of Understanding… Spirit of Counsel… Spirit of Knowledge”_. We ask Him to illuminate our minds, so we know God, grasp His Word, and choose His will daily.

In Gospel of John 10:1–10, Jesus reveals Himself as the Good Shepherdthe one who knows His sheep, calls them by name, and leads them to life.

We are first invited to be listening sheep. This means cultivating a heart that recognizes His voice above the noise of the world through prayer, Scripture, and quiet attentiveness.

But we are also called to become guiding shepherds for others. In our families, communities, and ministries, we reflect Christ when we lead with care, protect the vulnerable, and guide others not toward ourselves, but toward Him.

So the question remains: whose voice are we following, and whose voice are we becoming for others?

There is a version of the “good life” that keeps promising satisfaction, but leaves the soul strangely empty. It looks right, feels right, yet never quite fulfills. That is the mirage. The good life; the abundant life, can ONLY be found in Jesus, our Shepherd. So that when the Shepherd speaks, nwot loudly, but clearly, something within recognizes it.

This Sunday reminds us: fullness of life is not found in chasing voices, but in discerning the Voice. There is a knowing; deep, interior, between the Shepherd and His own. When we ignore it, we scatter; when we follow it, we find life.The question is simple and piercing:
Whose voice is shaping my choices? Where am I always looking for the "good life"?
Because not every path that looks like life leads to it.
Only the One who calls you by name can lead you into fullness of the Good life.

On the road to Emmaus (Luke 24:13–35), the disciples walk in sadness and confusion but Jesus is already with them, even though they don’t recognize Him.

He speaks through the Scriptures and is finally revealed in the breaking of the bread. Their hearts burn, and their sorrow turns into joy.

Even when you feel lost, Christ is walking with you, speaking, guiding, and waiting to be recognized.

The message is simple but powerful:
God’s mercy is greater than all human sin, and He invites everyone to trust in Him, repent, and show mercy to others. The day emphasizes confession, Holy Communion, and the famous prayer: “Jesus, I trust in You.”
In short, Divine Mercy Sunday reminds us that no one is beyond God’s forgiveness and love.
"For the sake of His sorrowful passion, Have mercy on us and on the whole world..."
