BIBLE VERSE FOR THE DAY
“Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early, To sit up late, To eat the bread of sorrows; For so He gives His beloved sleep” (Psalm 127:1-2 NKJV).

16 BAD HABITS YOU MUST AVOID IN CHURCH THIS YEAR 2026 AS FROM NOW

1. Constant lateness to church services and meetings. It proves that your love for God and the things of the Kingdom has grown cold. PLEASE STOP IT.

2. Refusing to sit where the ushers direct you. It is a sign of pride and disorderliness. PLEASE STOP IT.

3. Allowing your phone to ring loudly during service. Put it on silent or switch it off. PLEASE STOP IT.

4. Making and receiving calls during service. It shows where your true priority is. PLEASE STOP IT.

5. Chewing gum and sleeping during the sermon. The church is not a cinema or bedroom. Show reverence to God. PLEASE STOP IT.

6. Sitting during praise, worship, and prayer without any health reason. It shows spiritual laziness. PLEASE STOP IT.

7. Constantly checking the time during service. It shows impatience in God’s presence. PLEASE STOP IT.

8. Chatting, posting, or playing games on your phone during service. It shows carnality. PLEASE STOP IT.

9. Leaving before the benediction without any genuine reason. It shows a lack of respect for God and His servant. PLEASE STOP IT.

10. Standing outside to gist during service. Service is going on inside, gossip is going on outside which side are you on? PLEASE STOP IT.

11. Coming to church only for miracles and not for God. Seek the God of miracles, not just miracles. PLEASE STOP IT.

12. Looking down on others because of their clothes, background, or appearance. Church is a hospital, not a fashion parade. PLEASE STOP IT.

13. Refusing to participate in praise, prayer, or Bible reading. You didn’t come to watch a show worship God. PLEASE STOP IT.

14. Talking while the preacher is preaching. It is disrespectful both to God and His servant. PLEASE STOP IT.

15. Moving up and down unnecessarily during service. You distract others and dishonor God. PLEASE STOP IT.

16. Using church as a place to search for boyfriends/girlfriends instead of God. Seek God first. PLEASE STOP IT.

DATE:

[International Day For The Abolition Of Slavery]

TOPIC:
SERVING GOD HUMBLY

MEMORISE

Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself (Philippians 2:3).

READ:
Philippians. 2: 3, 4

[3]. Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.

[4]. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.

EXPOSITION

In a world where being noticed and having high position are important, serving God humbly stands out in a different way. Jesus showed humility by washing His disciples' feet and putting others first. Our text today tells us to do the same caring more about others than ourselves

Humble service requires a mindset shift, focusing on honouring God and loving others selflessly. It means serving in unseen places, knowing God sees and values every act. As we humble ourselves, God empowers us to make meaningful impact

In God's Kingdom, humility trumps self-promotion, as seen in Paul's commendation of humble servants. Let us labour quietly for God's glory, seeking His approval. Jesus taught that true greatness lies in serving others (Jn. 13-1-17), requiring us to set aside personal recognition. God's Word warns against pride and favours humility (Jas. 4. 6). On this International Day for the Abolition of Slavery, let us serve, remembering that our abilities are gifts from God enabling us to focus on others' needs, not our own

PRAYER POINTS

1. Pray for humble spirit resisting the temptation for self-promotion in our service to God.

2. Ask for the grace to serve wholeheartedly, prioritising God's approval over human praise

3. Pray for CAC Pearce Region, our father in the Lord, the Regional Superintendent, and other officers at the various levels as led by the Spirit of God.

SUGGESTED HYMN FOR TODAY:

*TOPIC: THE REWARD OF KILLING THE INNOCENT*

*MEMORISE:*
If the righteous will be recompensed on the earth, how much more the ungodly and the sinner *(Proverbs 11:31).*

*READ: 2 Samuel 12:1-18*
1. Then the Lord sent Nathan to David. And he came to him, and said to him: “There were two men in one city, one rich and the other poor.

2. The rich man had exceedingly many flocks and herds.

3. But the poor man had nothing, except one little ewe lamb which he had bought and nourished; and it grew up together with him and with his children. It ate of his own food and drank from his own cup and lay in his bosom; and it was like a daughter to him.

4. And a traveler came to the rich man, who refused to take from his own flock and from his own herd to prepare one for the wayfaring man who had come to him; but he took the poor man’s lamb and prepared it for the man who had come to him.”

5. So David’s anger was greatly aroused against the man, and he said to Nathan, “As the Lord lives, the man who has done this shall surely die!

6. And he shall restore fourfold for the lamb, because he did this thing and because he had no pity.”

7. Then Nathan said to David, “You are the man! Thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul.

8. I gave you your master’s house and your master’s wives into your keeping, and gave you the house of Israel and Judah. And if that had been too little, I also would have given you much more!

9. Why have you despised the commandment of the Lord, to do evil in His sight? You have killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword; you have taken his wife to be your wife, and have killed him with the sword of the people of Ammon.

10. Now therefore, the sword shall never depart from your house, because you have despised Me, and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.’

11. Thus says the Lord: ‘Behold, I will raise up adversity against you from your own house; and I will take your wives before your eyes and give them to your neighbor, and he shall lie with your wives in the sight of this sun.

12. For you did it secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel, before the sun.’”

13. So David said to Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord.” And Nathan said to David, “The Lord also has put away your sin; you shall not die.

14. However, because by this deed you have given great occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme, the child also who is born to you shall surely die.”

15. Then Nathan departed to his house. And the Lord struck the child that Uriah’s wife bore to David, and it became ill.

16. David therefore pleaded with God for the child, and David fasted and went in and lay all night on the ground.

17. So the elders of his house arose and went to him, to raise him up from the ground. But he would not, nor did he eat food with them.

18. Then on the seventh day it came to pass that the child died. And the servants of David were afraid to tell him that the child was dead. For they said, “Indeed, while the child was alive, we spoke to him, and he would not heed our voice. How can we tell him that the child is dead? He may do some harm!”

*EXPOSITION*
Law enforcement job requires diligent carrying and usage of arms and ammunitions, because these weapons are supposed to be used in accordance with professional regulation and discipline. However, a misuse of this privilege can lead to fatal accident and all sorts of mishaps. The implication is that arbitrary use of authority and power is unacceptable. That you are privileged to wield certain measure of power should not make you misbehave and end up in abuse of such powers.

Many kings and warlords in the ancient times were guilty of this dastardly act, and even today, many people in position of authority do not count it as anything to terminate lives, in order to get going, or hold unto power. Saul used his position to annihilate some Gibeaonites and he had to pay for it with the life of his grandchildren. God did not allow David to do what he desired for Him because he had shed some blood, including the blood of his faithful soldier to permanently take over his wife. What a godless act! Be warned! He who kills with the sword must be killed with the sword (Rev. 13:10). There is always a payback time.

*PRAYER POINTS*
1. Lord Jesus, don't let me be killed before You fight for me.

2. Lord, save those who are awaiting trial for no just cause and give them freedom, in Jesus' name.

3. Pray for CAC Sophia Ajayi Region, our father in the Lord. the Regional Superintendent, and other officers at the various levels as led by the Spirit of God.

*SUGGESTED HYMN FOR TODAY: CAC GHB 727*
*C M*
1. Am I a soldier of the Cross-
A foll'wer of the Lamb?
And shall I fear to own His cause,
Or blush to speak His name?

2. Must I be carried to the skies
On flowery beds of ease,
While others fought to win the prize,
And sailed through bloody seas?

3. Are there no foes for me to face?
Must I not stem the flood?
Is this vile world a friend to grace,
To help me on to God?

4. Since I must fight if I would reign,
Increase my courage, Lord!
I'll bear the toil, endure the pain,
Supported by Thy Word.

Amen.

TOPIC:
FREEDOM FROM BLOOD GUILT

MEMORISE

And all the people answered and said, “His blood be on us and on our children.” (Matthew 27:25).

READ:
Matthew 27:15-26

[15]. Now at the feast the governor was accustomed to releasing to the multitude one prisoner whom they wished.

[16]. And at that time they had a notorious prisoner called Barabbas.

[17]. Therefore, when they had gathered together, Pilate said to them, “Whom do you want me to release to you? Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?”

[18]. For he knew that they had handed Him over because of envy.

[19]. While he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent to him, saying, “Have nothing to do with that just Man, for I have suffered many things today in a dream because of Him.”

[20]. But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitudes that they should ask for Barabbas and destroy Jesus.

[21]. The governor answered and said to them, “Which of the two do you want me to release to you?" They said, “Barabbas!”

[22]. Pilate said to them, “What then shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?” They all said to him, “Let Him be crucified!”

[23]. Then the governor said, “Why, what evil has He done?” But they cried out all the more, saying, “Let Him be crucified!”

[24]. When Pilate saw that he could not prevail at all, but rather that a tumult was rising, he took water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, “I am innocent of the blood of this just Person. You see to it.”

[25]. And all the people answered and said, “His blood be on us and on our children.”

[26]. Then he released Barabbas to them; and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered Him to be crucified.

EXPOSITION

The crucifiers of Jesus exemplified cruelty, allowing His innocent blood to mark them and their descendants, as recounted in Matthew 27:25: _And all the people answered and said, His blood be on us and on our children._ Just imagine bringing a curse and calamity upon their children, even unborn children. This illustrates the concept of generational consequences for actions intentionally taken, as seen in Isaiah 53:5, which foretold that the Messiah would suffer for our sins. Despite their intentions, their actions fulfilled prophecy, though negatively.

The Bible warns against the dire consequences of shedding innocent blood. Cain's punishment for killing Abel (Gen. 4:10-12) and King David's consequences for Uriah's death (2 Sam. 12:10-14) are examples that illustrate the principle that those who shed blood will face divine judgement.

Pontius Pilate's attempt to wash his hands off guilt in Matthew 27:24 serves as a reminder of the importance of avoiding bloodshed. As a child of God, uphold righteousness and justice, living in a manner that honours God and respects the sanctity of life.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Thank God for the saving power of Jesus' blood.

2. Repent of all misjudgements and ask for forgiveness on every unjustly spilled blood of the innocents.

3. Pray for the cleansing blood of Jesus and mercy for the sinless, ignorant, and defenceless generation to come.

SUGGESTED HYMN FOR TODAY:
CAC GHB: 490

9 7 10 7

1. I know there is pow'r in Jesus' blood
For He wash'd my sins away;
And I know there is joy in serving Him
For He turned my night to day.
There is power, power, wonder working power
There is power, power, purifying power,
There is pow'r in Jesus blood.

2. I know there is pow'r in Jesus' blood,
From my guilt He set me free;
When I came unto Him with all my sins
And His blood availed for me.

3. I know there is pow'r in Jesus' blood,
For all things have been made new;
Since His own precious blood has been applied
And has cleansed me through and through

Amen.
