CHRISTIAN BEING, A replica of Christ on earth (series 6)

Welcome to another episode of who Christian should be. We've studied Christian as a follower of Christ, as a new creation and born again, as a disciple who abide in the word, as the temple of the holy spirit and as a child of God. Today, we shall look at another aspect of Christian being which is:-
6. A CHRISTIAN IS A LIGHT AND SALT IN THE WORLD
No one can enjoy delicious meals without salt, even if it is a little portion. The world is filled with many things, both ups and downs, that is why every dwellers must be conscious of the side they belong to. Christians must be seasoned with salt and must bring forth the light of the Most High God, Matthew 5:13-14 says “You are the salt of the earth… You are the light of the world.” Salt means to preserve society from corruption and Light means to expose darkness, you cannot claim to be a Christian and those attributes are scarce in your life. Light of God cannot be hidden under the cloth, a Christian doesn’t hide faith. Matthew 5:16 says “Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father.” it is important because Father will be glorified when you represent Him well on earth. Don't forget that the salt here symbolizes the character of Christ that you portray and the light here means Christ himself, doing wonders in your life. The more you engage in the word of God, the more you becoming image of Christ, Philippians 2:15 says “Shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life.”
Let not malice, bias, one-sidedness, and every sort of bad aura be found among you. We are called as the representative of God on earth, let us fulfill our duty accordingly.

Welcome to another episode of who Christian should be. We've studied Christian as a follower of Christ, and as a new creation and born again. Today, we shall look at another aspect of Christian being which is:-
3. A CHRISTIAN IS A DISCIPLE WHO ABIDES IN THE WORD
Nobody becomes something without knowing something. We become what we have read and studied. You cannot claim to be a Christian and you run away from reading the word of God, Proverbs 25:2 says "It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings is to search out a matter." How do you search out a matter? It is by been intentional about knowing the scriptures. To avoid been toss around by the waves of different doctrines, there is a need to understand the deep things of God.
John 8:31 says “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples.”, abide in God's word is beyond reading the scriptures alone, you must live the word of God.
“Abide” = live in it, obey it, be shaped by it. A Christian is not Bible-ignorant. A true disciple will be conscious of the word of God. Remember what Joshua 1:8 says, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night.”
Lastly for today, 2 Timothy 3:16-17 says “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable… that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” Therefore, Christians should be well versed in the scripture because reading/studying will lead to knowing(Knowledge), knowing will lead to understanding(Understand), understanding will lead Wisdom, and wisdom is profitable to direct....

Welcome back for another series. We started looking at who Christian is and what Christian should be in the society last time, and we discuss a Christian as a follower of Christ, and not follower of Men. We are only permitted to follow Men that follow Yeshua in every aspect until we also become fully aligned, then we can now rise up for the salvation of others. Let us continue with the second Christian being on earth.
2. A CHRISTIAN IS A NEW CREATION, BORN AGAIN
You don’t become Christian by culture. You become one by birth — spiritual birth. Culture can bring a lot of things which perversion is one of it.
John 3:3, 5 says “Unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God… born of water and the Spirit.” that is without new birth, church attendance is just religion. So what do we have in most of our churches today? Religious activities, hyping, God of Lagbaja/Tamedo, dancing recklessly, etc. Many people don't behave as a freed being, instead, they still held unto household witchcrafts year in year out. They don't even know that they are free indeed. Bible says "who the son set free, is free indeed", so the time we have to engage in healthy things of God are been wasted on the matter of "I want to be free Oluwa". 2Corinthians 5:17 says “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” Old habits, old anger, old addiction — they don’t define you anymore. Christ gives a new nature. Walk in that new reality and see the transformation that will follow. And finally today, don't forget that the only way to remain in that reality is when you abide and live in the word of God, 1 Peter 1:23 says “You have been born again… through the living and abiding word of God.”
That is the Word of God + Holy Spirit = new life.

“And in Antioch the disciples were first called Christians.”

Throughout the physical existence(33.5 years) of Yeshua, nobody really relate with "Christ sect" as christians, what reign during that time was another prophet and his followers that will soon end. We could see that during the capture of Yeshua, disciples are nowhere to be found (they japa), one of them that vow to glue with Him even denied Him thrice. But after the divine experience in the upper room(Act3), everything changed about the disciples. They became a new being from that experience. “Christian” is the most used label today. But what does it really mean? In Antioch, the name wasn’t given by believers — unbelievers saw how they lived and said, “These people are like Christ.”

A Christian is not just a church member, not just someone born in a Christian home, not just someone who wears a cross neither is Christian someone that follow Men. So WHO exactly is a Christian according to Scripture? Can we relate it to what we have in this generation or perversion have set in. Let’s learn together:

1. A CHRISTIAN IS A FOLLOWER OF CHRIST
The word “Christian” literally means “little Christ” or “Christ-one”. Most people we have in the sanctuary today are followers of MEN. We can as well quote Apostle Paul that says "follow me as I follow Christ", but the same Paul did not built men for himself rather it is to the glory of WHOM have mercy on him. Denominational atrocities has added to the division in the body of Christ today. So many uncooked ministers are out there seeing Christianity as a tool to amass wealth to/for themselves. Everyone want to be G.O of a church, then where is the place of Christ?
Luke 9:23 — “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”
Following = obedience, not just admiration. Many only admire Christ today, they don't follow Him. They prefer Daddy G.O. No wonder we have plenty baby Christians. John 10:27 says “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” A Christian knows Yeshua’ voice and walks where He leads, even when it’s hard.
Let us look at one more scripture for today, 1 John 2:6 says “Whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.”
Our lifestyle must resemble Christ(i.e. forgiveness, humility, love). If you build your life around Men, you have failed woefully already.
Christians are the one that follow only Christ. How do we follow Christ? Search His word everyday and you will becoming Him gradually. See you next time as we learn another series of Christian being.
