*THEME: _HUMBLE SERVICE_*

_TEXT: MARK 9:38-41_
³⁸ John said to him, "Teacher, we saw a man casting out demons in your name, and we forbade him, because he was not following us."
³⁹ But Jesus said, "Do not forbid him; for no one who does a mighty work in my name will be able soon after to speak evil of me.
⁴⁰ For he that is not against us is for us.
⁴¹ For truly, I say to you, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you bear the name of Christ, will by no means lose his reward.

*MESSAGE*
Today is the 365", the last Thursday and last day of the year. You will agree with us here that many things happened during the year, some beautiful, some ugly and some very devastating. It is the grace of God that has kept you and us alive. Let us, therefore, give the best of our praises to God Almighty, who has taken us thus far. He protected us from the arrows of the wicked; gave us our daily bread and provided all our needs appropriately. Great and wonderful is the Lord.

What is "Humble Service"? It is service that is acceptable to the wise and all-knowing God. Your service may be acceptable to man without being acceptable to God, whereas the minute goodness done to a righteous person with the right motive will always be acceptable to God, and will be rewarded by Him.

Many people are outwardly good but inwardly evil. People hail and worship them for their "goodness" but the All-knowing God sees their goodness" as being unworthy to Him. Not all those who are called "Prophets" are recognized by God; some are prophets of Satan and you cannot expect God to see them as His own!

In our society today, there are many men and women of God who perform miracles with diabolic powers in the name of God" and they have large followership! Some of them have big titles but God does not know them. By their actions you will know them. So always shine your eyes and ask God to reveal the mystery to you in pr

*WEEKLY BIBLE STUDY/DISCIPLESHIP MANUAL*

*WEEK/STUDY 50*

*TOPIC: CHRISTIAN GIVING OFFERING, VOWS AND PLEDGES*
*TEXT: DEUTERONOMY 12:10-14*

*INTRODUCTION*
Giving of offering and other statutory collections characterize every Christian worship. This could be in terms of money, material items, and livestock that are given to God as offering, donation, pledge and vows. While some give ritual or legal offering, others are voluntary (freewill) or votive giving. The Lord required a number of specified offerings from the children of Israel in the Old Testament such as Burnt offering (Lev. 1:4), Meat offering (Lev. 2:1), Peace offering (Lev. 3:1), etc. These offerings serve different purposes in their relationship with God. While Christ had permanently fulfilled these religious offerings through His atoning death on the Cross and resurrection, we are required to constantly offer our lives, fruit of our lips and resources as sweet smelling savor to God. There are also laws guiding making of vows and pledges, and most importantly there should be fulfilment of them. This study will help us to understand the differences between them, and what makes them acceptable to God.

*QUESTIONS AND DISCUSSION*
1. Differentiate between offerings, vows and pledges. Lev. 7:12, 16; Gen. 28:20-2; 1Sam. 1:10-11; Gen.38:17-18; Deut. 24:10-13.
Identify the various offerings prescribed to the Israelites in the Law given through Moses and their significance. Lev. 7:1-2,9, 11,37; Lev. 5:15; 6:15; Deut. 26:2-4,10.

2. What are the characteristics of acceptable offerings to the Lord? Lev. 4:3; Mal. 1:78; Lev. 22:19-25; Hag. 2:14; Matt. 5:23-24; Ps. 51:17; Rom. 12:1-2; Eph.5:2.

3. What are the necessary conditions a giver of offerings, vows and pledges should met in order for God to accept them? Ps. 51:19; 2 Cor. 8:1-3; Heb. 11:4; Lev. 9:15-21,24; 2 Cor. 9:6-9; 1 Kings 18:30-33,38; 2 Cor. 8:5; Mal. 1:14.

4. What lessons can we learn from the following Bible characters? Identify the blessings associated with their acts of giving. Gen. 4:3-4; 1 Kings 8:62-64; 9:2-5; Gen.8:20-21; 1 Sam. 1:24-28; 2:20-21; Acts 4:32-37; John 6:8-i3: 2 Cor. 8:13-15; 2 Kings 4:8-17; Judg. 11:29-40; Luke 21:1-4.

*CONCLUSION*
Through our giving to God, we open doors of abundance for ourselves. We are not to give grudgingly or out of persuasion but cheerfully, bountifully and generously whenever we have opportunity to do so. Remember that God has given us everything in good measures; therefore, we must give in appreciation for all these. Givers never lack. To give God those things that we know are not good enough to present to Our political and traditional rulers is an insult to Him, We are to give God the best, and faithfully: fulfil our vows and pledges (Eccl. 5:4-5). Don't dodge or withhold giving of offerings no matter how small you have (Luke 21:2-3).

*MEMORY VERSE*
Luke 6:38 "Give, and it will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over. For the measure you give will be the measure you will be put into your lap. you get back"

*THEME: _THE FULLNESS OF TIME_*

_TEXT: GALATIANS 4:4-5_
⁴ But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
⁵ To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

*MESSAGE*
Being “fortunate” can play a major part in a person's success. It is not uncommon to hear of people who rose to prominence and attributed their rise to being fortunate that they were the right person, with the right idea, in the right place, at the right time. That is how countless millionaires have made their fortune. In many ways, Jesus was the right person, in the right place, at the right time. But this was no accident. The Father knew exactly when the right time was. He knew exactly where the right place was. And He sent forth His Son, whom He knew to be exactly the right person. This is what we have in our text, “God sent forth His Son.”

The life of Jesus Christ did not just simply happen. Jesus was not simply fortunate. In the business world, Christmas reminds us that God is the Lord of time. He uses time and history and the events of our lives for His eternal purposes. In Christ Jesus, He has taken time for us. You're invited this day to to slow down and receive His christmas gifts of love, mercy, and forgiveness. He invites you to entrust your lives and times to Him for He is the Lord of time, and He uses it for you.

The good news for you is that in days past and even today, it is the fullness of time. Our loving God is the Lord of time and history. Our times are in His Almighty hands. You can be comforted that God is in control of whatever faces you. If your heavenly Father can use the kingdoms and events of world history to accomplish His purposes, surely He can use the events in your life to care for you and to accomplish His will for you. We have a mighty and loving God. Our times are in His hands, and even when our eyes cannot see it, our spiritual eyes can see that God takes care of us. His reign over time is for our good.

Apostle Paul tells us in Romans 5, “While we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.” In His Son Jesus, almighty God took time for us. In Christ Jesus, Almighty broke into time and at the cross defeated sin, death, and the devil. And He did this for You, who by nature have no time for God, who are too busy and too consumed with time, who time and time again rebel against Him, who deserve His eternal wrath, instead receive His love and mercy. God tells us through the prophet Isaiah, “With everlasting love I will have compassion on you.” This is the timeless message of Christmas! Jesus became man because He is the compassion of God made into human flesh.

*HYMN: MHB 337* _(C.M and refrain)_
1. God loved the world of sinners lost
And ruined by the fall;
Salvation full, at highest cost,
He offers free to all.

_O ’twas love, ’twas wondrous love,_
_The love of God to me;_
_It brought my Saviour from above,_
_To die on Calvary._

2. E’en now by faith I claim Him mine,
The risen Son of God;
Redemption by His death I find,
And cleansing through the blood.

3. Love brings the glorious fullness in,
And to His saints makes known
The blessèd rest from in**ed sin,
Through faith in Christ alone.

4. Believing souls, rejoicing go;
There shall to you be given
A glorious foretaste, here below,
Of endless life in heaven.

5. Of victory now o’er Satan’s power
Let all the ransomed sing,
And triumph in the dying hour
Through Christ, the Lord, our King.

_MEMORY VERSE:_
Ephesians 1:10 “To be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment -to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ.”

*PRAYER:*
Now the peace which surpasses all understanding keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Amen.

METHODIST CHURCH NIGERIA DAILY REFLECTION

DATE: SUNDAY, 14TH DECEMBER, 2025.

THEME: FORE-ORDAINED PLAN

PASSAGE: 1 PETER 1:19–20

19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,

THE MESSAGE:
The passage for today's devotion conveys the profound truth that Jesus, the Savour of humanity, was not an afterthought. Not something God decided to do when the world spun out of control or a last-minute solution to our problems. Jesus was meticulously chosen by God even before the creation of the world, showing the divine foresight and plan for our redemption.

The mention of Jesus being revealed in the last times further emphasizes the timely and intentional nature of His arrival on earth. It symbolizes the momentous event of God's ultimate plan coming to fruition for the salvation of humanity.

These verses prompt us to reevaluate our understanding of sacrifice in a world that believes in material wealth; reminding us of the immeasurable worth of Jesus' substitutionary sacrifice. They offer solace in the assurance of God's eternal plan, even amidst the chaos and uncertainties of life. Furthermore, they emphasize the deeply personal nature of Jesus' sacrifice, underscoring its relevance and significance for each individual.

In conclusion, recognizing the preciousness of Christ's sacrifice serves as a cornerstone of our faith; grounding us in the unfathomable love and eternal plan of God. Let us ponder how this understanding can permeate our daily lives, fostering a deeper connection with God and a renewed perspective on the value of sacrifice and redemption.

MEMORY VERSE: 1 Peter 1:20 “He was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was made manifest in the last times for the sake of you.”

HYMN: MHB 245 (7.6.7.6.D.) HAIL to the Lord anointed

1 HAIL to the Lord’s Anointed;
Great David’s greater Son!
Hail, in the time appointed,
His reign on earth begun!
He comes to break oppression,
To set the captive free,
To take away transgression,
And rule in equity.

2 He comes, with succour speedy,
To those who suffer wrong;
To help the poor and needy,
And bid the weak be strong:
To give them songs for sighing,
Their darkness turn to light,
Whose souls, condemned and dying,
Were precious in His sight.

3 He shall come down like showers
Upon the fruitful earth:
Love, joy, and hope, like flowers,
Spring in His path to birth:
Before Him, on the mountains,
Shall peace the herald, go;
And righteousness in fountains,
From hill to valley flow.

4 Kings shall fall down before Him,
And gold and incense bring;
All nations shall adore Him,
His praise all people sing;
To Him shall prayer unceasing
And daily vows ascend;
His kingdom still increasing,
A kingdom without end.

5 O’er every foe victorious,
He on His throne shall rest;
From age to age more glorious,
All-blessing and all-blest.
The tide of time shall never
His covenant remove;
His name shall stand for ever,
His changeless name of Love.

James Montgomery, 1771—1854.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank You that I have been called and chosen and that I have been born again into Your family. Help me to always do your will and obey Your commands evermore, in Jesus Christ's name. Amen.

*TOPIC: PATIENTLY WAIT FOR HIS COMING*

*TEXT: JAMES 5: 7-10*

*OBJECTIVE:*
For Believers to understand that waiting patiently is a virtue and also a sign of faithfulness to the Lord.

*INTRODUCTION*
There is much work to do to ensure a good harvest. In the same way. while we are waiting for the Lord's return, we must advance God's kingdom as well as improve our Spiritual and Physical lives here on earth. We have to work and walk faithfully to build God's Kingdom until the right king-Christ comes to take over His bride.

The writer of the book of Hebrews alluded in Heb. 6:18 that it is impossible for God to lie. Why would He lie? Although the timeless God is not controlled by human's sense of timing, He will do whatever He promised to do, in His own time. The first coming of Jesus Christ was foretold by so many prophets; it eventually came to pass. The promise of His second coming has been made also, and time-controlled humanity is already saying "Where is the promise of His coming" 2 Peter 3: 4.

*POINTS FOR CONVERSATION*
1. James asked the believers in his time to wait patiently for the Lord's coming. What is the implication to believers of this time? John 16: 33; James 1: 4; 2 Pet. 3: 1-4.

2. What are the benefits for those that wait patiently for His coming? James 1: 4; Luke 21: 19, Matt. 24: 45-46.

3. In practical sense, how has patience helped you or anyone around you, in the past?

*CONCLUSION*
Patience is a virtue which produces character which the Holy Spirit deposits in a believer. The end result is hope in Christ which never disappoints.. Brethren in our work and walk with the Lord, let us covet patience as a character; therefore wait patiently for His coming.

*MEMORY VERSE:*
_"Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord". James 5: 7a_

*ACTION POINT:*
Imbibe the character of patience always.

DAILY REFLECTION FOR

_FRIDAY DECEMBER 12, 2025._

*THEME: _SINFUL INVITATION_*

*TEXT: _ISAIAH 8:11-22_*
¹¹ For the LORD spoke thus to me with his strong hand upon me, and warned me not to walk in the way of this people, saying:
¹² "Do not call conspiracy all that this people call conspiracy, and do not fear what they fear, nor be in dread.
¹³ But the LORD of hosts, him you shall regard as holy; let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.
¹⁴ And he will become a sanctuary, and a stone of offense, and a rock of stumbling to both houses of Israel, a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
¹⁵ And many shall stumble thereon; they shall fall and be broken; they shall be snared and taken."
¹⁶ Bind up the testimony, seal the teaching among my disciples.
¹⁷ I will wait for the LORD, who is hiding his face from the house of Jacob, and I will hope in him.
¹⁸ Behold, I and the children whom the LORD has given me are signs and portents in Israel from the LORD of hosts, who dwells on Mount Zion.
¹⁹ And when they say to you, "Consult the mediums and the wizards who chirp and mutter," should not a people consult their God? Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living?
²⁰ To the teaching and to the testimony! Surely for this word which they speak there is no dawn.
²¹ They will pass through the land, greatly distressed and hungry; and when they are hungry, they will be enraged and will curse their king and their God, and turn their faces upward;
²² and they will look to the earth, but behold, distress and darkness, the gloom of anguish; and they will be thrust into thick darkness.

*THE MESSAGE:*
Οur text follows the prophecy about the coming destruction from the Assyrians. It includes a strong warning from the Lord to Isaiah not to follow the sins of the rest of Judah. Those who reject God's Word, however, will remain in darkness. After rejecting God's plan for them, the people of Judah would blame God for their trials. Today people still blame God for their self-induced problems.

Colossians 1:13 tells us that God "hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the Kingdom of His dear Son". In God's kingdom, we reign in His glory and righteousness. Therefore, "come out from them and be separate," says the Lord, “touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you and I will be a Father to you and you will be sons and daughters,” says the Lord Almighty.

Apostle Paul's command here in Ephesians 5:11, implies that sin is a waste of time and associated with darkness, which is opposed to the light of those living for Christ. "And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them". Generally, "to be unfruitful is an all-sufficient condemnation.

Part of God's charge to Isaiah, Judah and by extension to us today, is not to return to the lifestyle of the wicked. This is what the LORD says to me with his strong hand upon me, warning me not to follow the way of these people. People you were called out from. They walk in the way of darkness and you cannot belong to that way any longer.

Don't fear what the people fear. The life of those who are God's children is to honour the Lord and fear Him. Those who treat God as holy do not ignore His words, nor dishonor His name, or fail to trust Him.

*HYMN: MHB 319* _(7.7.7.7.7.)_
1 Weary souls that wander wide
From the central point of bliss,
Turn to Jesus crucified,
Fly to those dear wounds of His:
Sink into the cleansing flood;
Rise into the life of God.

2 Find in Christ the way of peace,
Peace unspeakable, unknown;
By His pain He gives you ease,
Life by His expiring groan:
Rise, exalted by His fall;
Find in Christ your all in all.

3 O believe the record true:
God to you His Son hath given.
Ye may now be happy too,
Find on earth the life of heaven,
Live the life of heaven above,
All the life of glorious love.

_MEMORY VERSE:_
ISAIAH 8:11.
This is what the LORD says to me with His strong hand upon me, warning me not to follow the way of this people.

*PRAYER:*
Lord, I am truly sorry for my transgressions and I ask for Your merciful forgiveness. Cleanse me from all unrighteousness and create in me a pure heart. Renew a steadfast spirit within me. I reject the ways of sin and darkness and turn wholeheartedly back to You, my Lord and Saviour. Amen.
