We are never completely alone when we know Jesus Christ. When we turn to Christ in faith and commit our lives to Him, He comes to live within us by His Spirit, and He is constantly with us.

*📖📖OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE.*

*DATE: SATURDAY 5TH FEBRUARY, 2022.*

*THEME: LIVING IN GLORY - II*

*MEMORISE:*
I have been young, and now am old; yet have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
Psalm 37:25

READ: Genesis 26:12-14

12 Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the Lord blessed him.

13 And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great:

14 For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him.

MESSAGE
Glory is a shame terminator. Wherever the glory of God is present, shame will never be found there.

Hence, anything that is shameful, embarrassing or humiliating – such as sickness, poverty, a sinful lifestyle, backsliding, bo***ge, and failure, should not be identified with children of God.

Poverty is closely associated with hunger, nakedness, homelessness , begging for alms, and wandering. Indeed, poverty is evil, and it has a way of dehumanising people.

However, being a child of God or attending Church services or programmes does not automatically cast away poverty. To be free from poverty, you must be completely obedient to God.

In today’s Bible reading, Isaac was determined to pursue greener pastures in Egypt in order to escape the terrible famine in the land. The Lord however warned him not to take that step, then showed him where he should dwell. Isaac obeyed and God blessed him greatly, as we see in Genesis 26:12-14:

Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the Lord blessed him. And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great: For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him.

In essence, the Bible is saying that Isaac reaped the fruit of obedience.

Furthermore, to be free from poverty, one must be diligent in business. Despite God’s promise of abundant blessings in Genesis 26:3, Isaac did not fold his hands, waiting for the miracle.

He cultivated, sowed, and laboured hard in the field, then the Lord fulfilled His promise by blessing his labour.

Also, we must persevere in the face of obstacles on our way to achieving true success.

There is always an interval between sowing and reaping. It is usually a period when obstacles and challenges come at you from every angle; perseverance is highly required to overcome.

Finally, you must not be a robber of God’s tithes, first fruit and offerings. Obedience in all these things are needed to live a glorious life free of poverty, shame, and all sorts of evil put together.

PRAYER POINT:
Father, please let your glory fill me and set me free from poverty in Jesus' name.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Leviticus 17-18

HYMN 25: TO GOD BE THE GLORY GREAT THINGS HE HATH DONE.

1 To God be the glory, great things he has done!
So loved he the world that he gave us his Son,
who yielded his life an atonement for sin,
and opened the life-gate that all may go in.

Refrain:
Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord,
Let the earth hear his voice!
Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!
Let the people rejoice!

2 Great things he has taught us, great things he has done,
and great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son,
but purer and higher and greater will be
our joy and our wonder, when Jesus we see.

[Refrain]

*📝MESSAGE*
It is difficult to describe God’s glory as it is a combination of the great power, splendor and holiness that accompany God’s presence, as well as its effects on man. Glory is one of the major attributes of God; it is a manifestation of His presence. Since man was created in the image of God, glory was originally part of his nature. However, when man embraced sin, the inherent glory of God departed. [Romans 3:23] therefore says

*_For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;_*

Sin did not only tamper with man’s glory, it wreaked more havoc by also producing shame.

A glorious life is so wonderful that [Genesis 2:25] said of Adam and Eve,

*_And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed._*

Though Adam and Eve were physically naked, they were covered with glory- that was why they did not know shame. It was absolutely impossible for them to experience shame. However, in [Genesis 3:7-10], after sin entered, fear gripped them; they suddenly discovered they were naked and had to hide due to shame. From the fall of the Garden of Eden to date, every human being who ever lived without being born again, wallowed in the realm of shame.

Quite simply, glory is the atmosphere of heaven on earth. Glory is both the beauty and power of God; it was lost at Eden but was regained at Calvary. Jesus came to redeem mankind and give those who accept the hope of glory, according to [Romans 5:2].

Today’s memory verse tells us to arise and shine because, with the presence of God’s glory, nothing can hinder the rising of a child of God. I therefore pray for you: Today, you will rise and begin to shine, in Jesus’ name.

There is nothing glorious about sickness, poverty, a sinful lifestyle, backsliding, bo***ge, and failure. Children of God must be determined to live above these problems, swimming daily in glory. Today, our Bible reading shows a classic example of a person who encountered Jesus Christ and was relocated from the realm of ‘wallowing in shame’ to that of ‘swimming in glory’. Beloved, come to Jesus today and surrender all to Him so you can also become a candidate for God’s glory [Colossians 1:27].

*PRAYER POINT*
Father, give me the grace to possess my possession, in Jesus’ name.

*🎼HYMN SONG🎷19:*

*_O WORSHIP THE KING ALL GLORIOUS ABOVE_*

*1.* ```O worship the King all-glorious above,
O gratefully sing his power and his love:
our shield and defender, the Ancient of Days,
pavilioned in splendor and girded with praise.```

*2.* ```O tell of his might and sing of his grace,
whose robe is the light, whose canopy space.
His chariots of wrath the deep thunderclouds form,
and dark is his path on the wings of the storm.```

*3.* ```Your bountiful care, what tongue can recite?
It breathes in the air, it shines in the light;
it streams from the hills, it descends to the plain,
and sweetly distills in the dew and the rain.```

*4.* ```Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail,
in you do we trust, nor find you to fail.
Your mercies, how tender, how firm to the end,
our Maker, Defender, Redeemer, and Friend!```

*5.* ```O measureless Might, unchangeable Love,
whom angels delight to worship above!
Your ransomed creation, with glory ablaze,
in true adoration shall sing to your praise!```

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL

DATE: WEDNESDAY 16TH SEPTEMBER 2020.

THEME: CHOOSE YOUR COMPANY WISELY.

MEMORISE:

Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 2 Corinthians 6:14

READ: Psalm 26:4-5

4 I have not sat with vain persons, neither will I go in with dissemblers.

5 I have hated the congregation of evil doers; and will not sit with the wicked.

MESSAGE:

You can attract blessings just by being around the right people. Likewise, it is possible to pick up curses by being in the wrong company. That is why the Psalmist said in Psalm 26:4-5:
“I have not sat with vain persons, neither will I go in with dissemblers. I have hated the congregation of evil doers; and will not sit with the wicked.”
Some time ago, I travelled abroad for a crusade and noted the absence of a particular son of mine who was ill at the time. I went to the hospital and while praying for him, I felt the power of God come down mightily. The next day, I got a report that not only had my son been healed and discharged, but also everyone else in the ward. They got their healing just because they shared the same ward with my son.

Who you associate with has a great influence on what you attract. This is why you must be friends with good Christians. Search for people who are wiser than you and be their friends. Proverbs 13:20 says:
“He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.”

Don’t stay in the midst of gossips or people jesting about their sinful acts. If you find yourself among those smoking and drinking, leave immediately.

Always choose your partners and associates carefully. Partner with genuine children of God. If the person carries the blessings of God, you can be sure that your project(s) will be blessed. When you are in business with one who is suggesting you cut corners, give bribes or cheat, break such relationships because that fellow will invite the devil into your enterprise.

God commands us to love our neighbor as ourselves, not that everyone must be our friend. We must choose our friends wisely. Keep your associations pure.

ACTION POINT:

Dissociate yourself from every ungodly friend today.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Daniel 10-12.

AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE

HYMN 20: NEARER, MY GOD TO THEE.

1. Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee!
E’en though it be a cross that raiseth me,
Still all my song shall be, nearer, my God, to Thee.
o Refrain:
Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee!

2. Though like the wanderer, the sun gone down,
Darkness be over me, my rest a stone;
Yet in my dreams I’d be nearer, my God, to Thee.

3. There let the way appear, steps unto Heav’n;
All that Thou sendest me, in mercy giv’n;
Angels to beckon me nearer, my God, to Thee.

4. Then, with my waking thoughts bright with Thy praise,
Out of my stony griefs Bethel I’ll raise;
So by my woes to be nearer, my God, to Thee.

5. Or, if on joyful wing cleaving the sky,
Sun, moon, and stars forgot, upward I’ll fly,
Still all my song shall be, nearer, my God, to Thee.

6. There in my Father’s home, safe and at rest,
There in my Savior’s love, perfectly blest;
Age after age to be nearer, my God, to Thee.
