Over 1500 Candidates received the Sacrament of Confirmation today as the Catholic Diocese of Enugu Catholic Diocese of Enugu marks her Diocesan Feast Day which is the Solemnity of Pentecost.

The mass which took place today Saturday, 23 May, 2026 at Holy Ghost Cathedral Church, was presided by Most Rev. Ernest Aniezichukwu Obodo, the Auxiliary Bishop of Enugu and the Apostolic Administrator of Abakaliki Diocese.

In his homily, the Auxiliary Bishop, Most Rev. Ernest Obodo, dwelt on the person and ministry of the Holy Spirit and the indispensable role He plays in the Christian faith. He reminded them to be strong in faith and to resist the lures of evil.

It has become quite traditional for the diocese to mark her feast day with the celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation on the eve of the Pentecost Sunday.

Each parish and institution in the diocese, after due preparation, sent at least two candidates for the reception of this sacrament. The cathedral church was filled to the brim with young and elderly confirmands who were very enthusiastic and prepared to receive the sacrament.
