*THEME: IF GOD BE FOR US*

*TEXT: _PSALM 60:6-12_*
⁶ God has spoken in his sanctuary: "With exultation I will divide up Shechem and portion out the Vale of Succoth.
⁷ Gilead is mine; Manas'seh is mine; E'phraim is my helmet; Judah is my scepter.
⁸ Moab is my washbasin; upon Edom I cast my shoe; over Philistia I shout in triumph."
⁹ Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom?
¹⁰ Hast thou not rejected us, O God? Thou dost not go forth, O God, with our armies.
¹¹ O grant us help against the foe, for vain is the help of man!
¹² With God we shall do valiantly; it is he who will tread down our foes.

*THE MESSAGE:*
The Jewish nation of Israel had suffered an excruciating defeat in the hands of her enemy, possibly Edom. Psa. 60:1-5 relate the effect of the defeat on the nation, Rather than blaming the enemy for the defeat, she blamed it on God for abandoning her! She then decided to approach God, who is always caring and all-forgiving, penitently. And, of course, the Lord heard her prayers!

Where do you go when you feel downcast or you feel defeated by an enemy? Israel went to God with a penitent heart and prayed to Him and He answered them.

Leo, a young banker, reported to his church minister the challenges he was having with a female senior colleague in his office. She picked on him frequently and had openly accused him of being planted in the office to take over her position. The matter took a new turn when it was noticed by other colleagues that the lady had been dropping strange objects around the office. Leo made up his mind to look for job elsewhere, and the church Minister joined hands to pray with him, asking God to fight for him. And that was exactly what God did.

A panel was set up in the office to investigate the activities of the lady and she was asked to resign her appointment. Leo has since been promoted.

David had first-hand experience of persecution by people close to him and also by strangers. He, however, had confidence that God in His mercy would come to his aid and give him victory. David testified that "Through God we will do valiantly, for it is He who shall tread down our enemies." (Psalm 60:12).

As Paul puts it in Romans 8:31, "If God be for us, who can be against us?" This is the assurance of God's power and protection for His children and those who faithfully seek Him. Will you?

1: God is with us, God is with us,
So our brave forefathers sang,
Far across the field of battle
Loud their holy war-cry rang;
Never once they feared and faltered,
Never once they ceased to sing:

_God is with us, God is with us,_
_Christ our Lord shall reign as King!...

_MEMORY VERSE:_
Through God we will do valiantly, for it is He who shall tread down our enemies. –Psalm 60:12

Lord, fight for me and let me hold my peace. Amen.

*THEME: THE PARABLE OF THE WHEAT AND TARES*

*TEXT: MATTHEW 13:24-30_*
²⁴ Another parable he put before them, saying, "The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field;
²⁵ but while men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away.
²⁶ So when the plants came up and bore grain, then the weeds appeared also.
²⁷ And the servants of the householder came and said to him, `Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then has it weeds?'
²⁸ He said to them, `An enemy has done this.' The servants said to him, `Then do you want us to go and gather them?'
²⁹ But he said, `No; lest in gathering the weeds you root up the wheat along with them.
³⁰ Let both grow together until the harvest; and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, Gather the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn.'"

*THE MESSAGE:*
The Oxford Dictionary states that "a Parable is a short simple story that teaches a moral or religious lesson, especially one of the stories told by Jesus in the Bible" Matthew 13 contains some of such parables -The sower (verse 3:9); the tares and wheat, (24-30); hidden treasure(44); drag-net in the sea (49-50); the householder (51-52).

There are two major reasons why Jesus spoke in parables:

To know the mysteries (hidden secrets) of the King of heaven (V.11)

That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets (v.35)

In the parable of the Wheat and Tares (Matthew 13: 24-30), when the sower of the good seed was told of tares growing in his field, he said that "An enemy has done this (vs 28). The devil has come to build his church inside God's Church. vs.38 states that "The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom but the tares are the wicked children of the wicked one (the devil).

Though Wheat and Tares can grow together, by their fruit, you shall know them.

Christians are called to be discerning in the affairs of the life of the church where they worship or associate. Ultimately, God's angels will separate children of the Kingdom from the children of the evil one at the harvest of the Kingdom when Christ returns. (Rev. 20).

*HYMN: MHB 701* _(7.6.7.6.D)_
1: The Church’s one foundation
Is Jesus Christ her Lord;
She is His new creation
By water and the Word;
From heaven He came and sought her
To be His holy bride;
With His own blood He bought her,
And for her life He died....

_MEMORY VERSE:_
Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, "First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn. –Matthew 13:30

_PRAYER:_
Lord, let darkness and every trace of evil be removed from Your church now and evermore. Amen.

*TOPIC: NO CONDEMNATION IN CHRIST*

*TEXT: ROMANS 8:1-10*
1. There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4. That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 5. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 9. But you are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. 10. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

*OBJECTIVE: To have assurance that in Christ alone you have liberty*

*INTRODUCTION*
A young lady was given to immorality however, one day she met Christ. Those who used to know her still looked at her with her past life; however, they changed their view when her persistence in the things of Christ became more obvious. It is certain that people may be under condemnation by reason of their past, but when they come to Christ, that condemnation no longer exists. This can also happen to anyone, no matter your past. The truth is that Christ came to save and not to condemn.

*POINTS FOR CONVERSATION*
1. There are two main laws according to the Rom. 8:2: The law of the *Spirit of life,* and the *law of sin and death.* What does this mean?

2. Why is there no condemnation for those that are in Christ Jesus? Rom. 8:1

3. How can condemnation be taken away? Acts 13:38, 39; Gal. 2:20.

*CONCLUSION*
Every law has a punishment attached to it if broken. The law of our country states the consequences for anyone who contravenes certain laws is liable to a jail term, a fine or both. That is the law, and when broken, one is condemned when found guilty. In Christ, there is however no condemnation, for the judgement has been served by Christ Jesus who became the criminal in our stead and have served the punishment. Every believer in Christ has this grace. This grace speaks for us all.

*MEMORY VERSE: Romans 8:10* And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

*ACTION POINT:* There is no condemnation for those that are Christ Jesus.

DAILY REFLECTION FOR

_SATURDAY 11TH JULY 2026_

*THEME: THE FOLLY OF IDOLATRY*

*TEXT: ISAIAH 44:6-8_*
⁶ Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts: "I am the first and I am the last; besides me there is no god.
⁷ Who is like me? Let him proclaim it, let him declare and set it forth before me. Who has announced from of old the things to come? Let them tell us what is yet to be.
⁸ Fear not, nor be afraid; have I not told you from of old and declared it? And you are my witnesses! Is there a God besides me? There is no Rock; I know not any."

*THE MESSAGE:*
Idolatry is the practice of worshipping idols. It can also be too much admiration for something or someone. A man of God once said "I love professional boxing as a sport. Big boxing matches, in the past, were staged mainly in the United States of America on Saturday nights and live-streamed by CNN television to other parts of the world. Due to time difference, he would wake up on Saturday morning whenever there was a big match at 3am to watch the live transmission up till around 6am, after which he would quickly get dressed and be off to church for Sunday service. He did not see anything wrong in what he enjoyed doing until some years later when God spoke to him and demanded that he convert the time he spends in watching live boxing to a time of worship. It was then that it dawned on him that he had turned his hobby into idolatry".

God, in Isaiah 44:6, declares ". "I am the First and I am the Last; Besides Me there is no God." Isaiah warns the Israelites of foolishness of abandoning the worship of the one true God for the worship of idols.

Regrettably, there is still a misconception of idolatry, whereby it is thought only of carved images and other objects to which people offer oblation and pay homage. The truth, however, is that anything or anyone that takes up the time and honour due from us to God is an idol. It could be a person's work, business, wealth, hobby, wife or husband, assets. etc

Which idolatry do you need to disengage from today? Do away with it and worship the ONLY true and Everlasting God. Imagine a man making a graven image from a wood part of which he used to make fire and bowing down for it, saying "You are my god, saviour and redeemer" Is it not madness? God of Heaven is our Maker and all honour and adoration should be totally given to Him.

*HYMN: MHB 91* _(C.M)_
1: All hail the power of Jesu’s name;
Let angels prostrate fall;
Bring forth the royal diadem
To crown Him Lord of all....

_MEMORY VERSE:_
Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel, and his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts: "I am the First and I am the Last: Besides Me there is no God. –Isaiah 44:6

*PRAYER:*
Lord, open my eyes to recognize any form of idolatry in my life and empower me to disengage from it and devote my total attention to the worship of the Almighty God in Jesus' Name. Amen.

*THEME: JACOB'S VISION OF A LADDER*

*TEXT: GENESIS 28:10-19_*
¹⁰ Jacob left Beer-sheba, and went toward Haran.
¹¹ And he came to a certain place, and stayed there that night, because the sun had set. Taking one of the stones of the place, he put it under his head and lay down in that place to sleep.
¹² And he dreamed that there was a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven; and behold, the angels of God were ascending and descending on it!
¹³ And behold, the LORD stood above it and said, "I am the LORD, the God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie I will give to you and to your descendants;
¹⁴ and your descendants shall be like the dust of the earth, and you shall spread abroad to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south; and by you and your descendants shall all the families of the earth bless themselves.
¹⁵ Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done that of which I have spoken to you."
¹⁶ Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, "Surely the LORD is in this place; and I did not know it."
¹⁷ And he was afraid, and said, "How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven."
¹⁸ So Jacob rose early in the morning, and he took the stone which he had put under his head and set it up for a pillar and poured oil on the top of it.
¹⁹ He called the name of that place Bethel; but the name of the city was Luz at the first.

*THE MESSAGE:*
The vision of Jacob established a very important factor in the lives of the Israelites. That night, God gave the land of Canaan to Jacob as an inheritance. That night, too, God personally allotted the land to Jacob, to be inherited by his descendants. To this day, though their sins brought great punishment to scatter them, such as that of the holocaust, they never lost their inheritance from the Lord.

As covenant vision that has a reference, the promise was made first to Abraham in Gen. 12:3, repeated in Gen. 22:18, transferred to Isaac in 26:4, and transferred and confirmed to Jacob in Gen. 28:14. With this, there is no way anyone can take the land away from the Israelites because the deed and survey plan of the land, as well as the Certificate of Occupancy is registered in the courts of heaven.

Reading further, we can see that the name of the place was changed to Beth-El, the House of God. No one can claim ownership of God's house, no matter how great or influential. Jacob marked it also with a stone, poured oil on it, and dedicated it as the site for the building of Jehovah's temple. He further promised God a tithe of all that God will give to him. All these came to pass.

Pray that God will give you a vision of Himself and of your future. Also pray that you may be established and blessed in all your endeavours and also in His assignment and never be removed, all the days of your life. Amen.

*HYMN: MHB 607* _(CM)_
1: O God of Bethel, by Whose hand
Thy people still are fed,
Who through this weary pilgrimage
Hast all our fathers led....

_MEMORY VERSE:_
Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land, for I will not leave you till I have done what I have spoken to you. –Gen. 28:15

*PRAYER:*
Father in heaven, bring all Your promises and covenants to pass in my life, that all You have given to me will be preserved from the hands of the enemy for I pray in Jesus holy Name. Amen.
