Prince Judge Abdul Jabbar Bola Ajibola’s Demise: A Great Loss to the Nation.

With a profound sense of sadness, we mourn the passing of Judge Abdul Jabbar Bola Ajibola, one of Nigeria’s finest legal minds and former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation. Judge Ajibola was the immediate Past Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoTs) of the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN).

Judge Ajibola's exemplary contributions to the growth of Muslims in Nigeria and Africa as a whole is outstanding. He dedicated his life to the course of the Muslim Ummah and worked tirelessly to promote unity and religious harmony across the country and the continent of Africa. His numerous achievements and legacies will remain forever etched in the annals of history.

Judge Ajibola was a visionary leader and a trailblazer whose impact on the Nigerian Muslim community cannot be overstated. As a man of principle, courage, and action, he was a shining example of what could be achieved when passion, determination, skill, and punctuality are brought together in the service of a noble course.

One of the most significant contributions of Judge Ajibola while serving as a Judge of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) was his efforts toward the improvement of the global justice system. At the World Court, he worked tirelessly to promote the course of justice and the advancement of international law. His legal expertise and unwavering commitment to justice and fairness earned him the respect and admiration of people all over the world.

In Nigeria, Judge Ajibola was well respected within the legal community for his exceptional legal knowledge and for his role as former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation. As Minister, he championed legal reforms that advanced the course of justice, democracy, and good governance in Nigeria. His contributions to the development of the Nigerian legal system remain significant and memorable.

As the immediate past Chairman of the Board of Trustees of MUSWEN, Judge Ajibola significantly promoted religious harmony and peaceful co-existence between Muslims and people of other faiths. Under his able leadership, MUSWEN worked tirelessly to improve the welfare of Muslims in the South West region of Nigeria.

Judge Ajibola as a devout Muslim lived his life in accordance with the teachings of Islam. He was a man of great faith, humility, and compassion, and he always put the needs of others before his own. His commitment to the course of the Muslim Ummah, his exemplary leadership, and his unwavering commitment to justice and fairness will continue to inspire countless Nigerians for generations to come.

On behalf of the President of MUSWEN and the entire Ummah, I extend our deepest condolences to Judge Ajibola's family, friends, and loved ones. May Allah grant him eternal peace and a place in Janat al-Firdaus, and may He grant his family, friends, and loved ones the strength and patience to bear this irreparable loss. Justice Ajibola's passing is a great loss to the Nigerian Muslim community and the nation as a whole.

PRESS RELEASE

AN UNTOLD CALAMITY – EARTHQUAKE IN TURKEY/SYRIA BORDER

We will certainly test you with a touch of fear and famine and loss of property, life, and crops. Give good news to those who patiently endure— who, when faced with a disaster, say, “Surely to Allah we belong and to Him we will ˹all˺ return.” They are the ones who will receive Allah’s blessings and mercy. And it is they whom are ˹rightly˺ guided. Al-Baqarah 155-157.

The entire Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN), under the leadership of its President, Alh. Rasaki Oladejo FCS, who also doubles as the Deputy President-General (South), Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), mourns the tragic loss of lives in the Turkey-Syria Earthquake which unfortunately happened on Monday, February 6th, 2023 at about 4:15 am local time.

A 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck south-central Turkey near the Turkey/Syria border and just about 11 minutes after, a 6.7 magnitude aftershock wave followed. These series of events have left over 20,000 people dead and over 50,000 injured in Turkey and Syria combined.

The Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN) sends its deepest condolences to the families and nations of Turkey and Syria who were affected by the devastating earthquake that struck their borders. This tragedy has unfortunately also caused severe damage to the infrastructure of both countries.

Since the occurrence of this saddening disaster, we have continually sent our fervent prayers to Allah (SWT) for the repose of the souls of the departed ones while praying for the quick recovery of the injured. It is also our prayer that almighty Allah grants the family of the diseased the equanimity to bear the irreparable loss. Allah says in the Qur’an “…but give glad tidings to the patient ones”.

In the words of MUSWEN President and Deputy President-General (South) of NSCIA, Alh. Rasaki Oladejo FCS, “This tragedy is a reminder of our vulnerability and of how fragile life can be. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this earthquake, and we urge the world to come together to provide the necessary support for the affected populations.”

While MUSWEN mourns the loss of lives and properties, we identify with the call by the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) under the leadership of His Eminence, Alh. Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar and call on well-meaning people of Nigeria and governments around the world to assist in the provision of relief items for the affected nations. We urge the international community to come together in solidarity and provide the necessary support for the affected populations in order to help them rebuild their lives.
We hope that with the support of the international community, the people of Turkey and Syria will be able to recover from this tragedy and rebuild their lives. MUSWEN is ready to coordinate efforts of providing relief of all kinds as called by the NSCIA in South West Nigeria.

Anyone who is willing and ready to provide relief items to our brothers and sisters affected by the untold hardship should contact MUSWEN on the following contact details:

*SOUTH-WEST OF NIGERIA MUSLIM LEADERS' TOWN HALL MEETING WITH ASIWAJU BOLA AHMED TINUBU, APC PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE*

*JOIN US ON SUNDAY 11/12/22 TO MAKE YORUBA MUSLIMS PROUD*

Never in the history of Nigeria has any Yoruba Muslim from South West of Nigeria stepped into A*o Rock either as president or vice president. Akinwale Wey, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Chief Earnest Shonekan, Chief Oladipo Diya and Professor Yemi Osinbajo have been given the chance before but they are all Christians.

But now a capable and eminently qualified Yoruba Muslim has emerged as the presidential candidate. All Muslims of the South West are duty bound to support him.

The Glorious Qur'an says, "Inama al-Muminuun ikhwah", i.e.. Verily indeed Muslims are all brothers and sisters (Qur'an 49:10).

Therefore, the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN) invites all true Muslims, Shaykhs, Imams, Muslim traditional rulers, Muslim title holders Islamic organizations, Islamic institutions and madrasahs to join us this Sunday, 11th December, 2022 as we endorse our own, Ahmed Bola Tinubu.

Also invited are representatives of market men and women, artisan groups, small business owners, people in academia, Muslim representatives of the two major drivers unions, okada riders associations, traders union and those who are physically challenged.

This is not about any political party. It is for the survival of Islam in Yorubaland where our religion is under constant threat. We are therefore inviting all Yoruba Muslims regardless of their political affiliation.

The Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN) has declared its support for Asiwaju Tinubu.

MUSWEN President Rasaki Oladejo announced this while addressing reporters on the sideline of the seventh General Assembly of the organisation at the University of Ibadan (UI). MUSWEN, at the event, presented bursary awards to 115 successful beneficiaries, drawn from across the Southwest states.
President Oladejo said MUSWEN’s support for the APC candidate alongside others was not based on his religious affiliation but competence as well as his track records.
“MUSWEN has already made its intention known. We are supporting Asiwaju Tinubu to become president. Our support for Tinubu is based on his competence and track records.

“We can all see his performance as governor of Lagos and the state, till date, remains the number one most viable state in Nigeria, with lots of innovations,” he said.
