CHRIST MANDATE TO THE WORLD

Abraham's blessing
Galatians 3:13-14
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
For a very long time during the church service, when it is the time for offering collection. The choir doesn't have any other song other than “Abraham's blessings are mine”. This might not be the same narrative in other quarters or clime but I am very sure it is the norm in every church I found myself during my early days in the faith. We used to sing this song with all passion then, hoping for the blessings of Abraham. In most people's minds, this blessing is materialistic in nature. I want to believe this song is an upshot of the materialistic gospel, which in itself is another gospel and not the one the Lord handed to the apostle. I could also remember a song in Yoruba language we were also used to in those days, “Jesus flooded the ground with goodness, I picked it”. These and many more which space will not permit me to write are songs which the prosperity gospel smuggled into the church to rob us of our peace.
The Abrahamic blessing is never a material or physical but immaterial, it is a spiritual blessing.
Let me run you in summary through the background history of how Abraham came to the fore in the history of Christianity which stems from the tribe of Judah, one of the sons of Jacob.
As the earth is the creation of God but in the earth is the world(System of government). After the fall, man began to govern himself and kept drifting away from God. As the cosmos is a creation of God and not of the devil, for he created nothing, then God needed man to keep the cosmos(the natural world) going and beautiful so a man is needed to carry out this task. As it is known that the world has gone off course and is full of darkness yet God is an expert in bringing light out of darkness (Genesis 1:3).
Therefore, God sought out a man of the Chaldean of an idolatry background whom He had foreknown to have had another spirit (Joshua 24:2). He commanded him to leave his family, his clan and from his country to a land He will show him (Genesis 12:1-3). God wanted to raise a new family on the earth because the world at that time was corrupt. So He began a new lineage that would not follow the pattern of the corrupted world. The purpose was that the Messiah’s seed will be planted in the loins of Abraham and that through his lineage, Christ will come. Christ Jesus is indeed the blessing the world has received. This is the kind of blessing the world does not deserve, yet God’s mercy has made it available to us.
The coming of Christ Jesus to the earth realm and that all the nations of the world would be blessed was the purpose for the promise unto Abraham. (Genesis 22:18)
And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.
Himself didn't see the promise fulfilled but yet hoped for the fulfillment someday but in our days(blessed days) we saw it fulfilled (Hebrews 11:13).
All that being said, the seed God told Abraham that in Him will all the nations of the earth be blessed, is the Lord Jesus Christ. As the scripture says “the seed of the woman shall bruise the head of the serpent” (Genesis 3:15). Jesus Christ is the seed and He had bruised brutally the head of the serpent (Colossians 2:15). The promised blessing is the Holy Spirit, as the Lord Jesus Christ said, “I send the promise of the Father upon you”. (Luke 24:49).
So, Abraham's blessing is not materialistic in nature but of the spirit, although God does bless and prosper physically but that should not be your goal as God's child. Strive to be full of the Holy Ghost and material blessings shall gravitate towards you.
Maranatha!
Prayer action:
Father, show me mercy that I will not miss what you have for me in this season in Jesus' name.
God is ever mindful of you.
I remain your brother in Christ.
