TOPIC:
GOD LOOKS ON THE HEART

MEMORISE
In the days of King Herod of Judea, there was a priest named Zechariah and his wife Elizabeth. Both of them were upright in the sight of God, observing all the Lord's commandments and regulations blamelessly (Luke 1:5-6).

READ:
Luke 1:5, 6
[5]. There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the division of Abijah. His wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.

[6]. And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

EXPOSITION
The story of Zechariah and Elizabeth beautifully proves how despite their imperfections, their sincere and faithful lives were pleasing to God. This truth is seriously captured in Herrick Johnson's touching poem. In the poem, a mother, feeling disheartened by her own faults, discovers a patchwork done by her child. Though imperfect, it fills her heart with tenderness, revealing her child's earnest desire to help. This tender moment leads her to realise God's tender care for her, despite her own flaws, bringing her troubled heart to peace.
God calls us to cleanse our hearts daily to align with His will. Through regular Bible reading and meditation, we open ourselves to God's guidance and truth. By pleading Jesus' blood, we admit and receive His sacrifice's cleansing power. And by willingly obeying the Lord each day, we show our love and devotion to Him. Just as Elizabeth and Zechariah found favour in God's eyes through their sincerity and faithfulness, may we too seek to live lives that please Him, by His grace and mercy.

PRAYER POINTS
1. Cleanse me, Oh Lord, so that even in distress, I will still continue to trust in You.
2. God, grant me the enablement to keep my heart clean always, knowing that it is Your temple.
3. Help me, Lord, to be upright in all my dealings with You and fellow men.

6 6 6 6 D

1. Shine Thou upon us, Lord,
True Light of men, to-day;
And through the written word
Thy very self display;
That so, from hearts which burn
With gazing on Thy face,
The little ones may learn
The wonders of Thy grace.

2. Breathe Thou upon us, O Lord,
Thy Spirit's living flame,
That so with one accord
Our lips may tell Thy name;
Give Thou the hearing ear,
Fix Thou the wandering thought,
That those we teach may hear
The great things Thou has wrought.

3. Speak Thou for us, O Lord,
In all we say of Thee;
According to Thy word
Let all our teaching be;
That so Thy lambs may know
Their own true shepherd's voice,
Where'er He leads them go
And in His love rejoice.

4. Live Thou within us, Lord;
Thy mind and will be ours;
Be Thou belov'd, adored,
And served, with all our pow'rs;
That so our lives may teach
Thy children what Thou art,
And plead, by more than speech,
For Thee with every heart.
Amen.

TOPIC:
DAVID'S ATTITUDE TO HIS WORKERS

MEMORISE
But David said, "My brethren, you shall not do so with what the LORD has given us, who has preserved us and delivered into our hand the troop that came against us" [1 Samuel 30:23].

READ:
1 Samuel 30:21-25

[21]. Now David came to the two hundred men who had been so weary that they could not follow David, whom they also had made to stay at the Brook Besor. So they went out to meet David and to meet the people who were with him. And when David came near the people, he greeted them.

[22]. Then all the wicked and worthless men of those who went with David answered and said, “Because they did not go with us, we will not give them any of the spoil that we have recovered, except for every man’s wife and children, that they may lead them away and depart.”

[23]. But David said, “My brethren, you shall not do so with what the Lord has given us, who has preserved us and delivered into our hand the troop that came against us.

[24]. For who will heed you in this matter? But as his part is who goes down to the battle, so shall his part be who stays by the supplies; they shall share alike.”

[25]. So it was, from that day forward; he made it a statute and an ordinance for Israel to this day.

EXPOSITION
In our daily lives, it is crucial to value our relationships. David, known for his heart for God, showed this by how he treated his workers. Despite being king, he respected and valued them, as seen in 1 Samuel 30:21-25. He shared the spoils of victory equally among all, showing fairness and appreciation for everyone's contribution. David's example teaches us to honour and value everyone, no matter their position. Colossians 3:23 reminds us to work with all our hearts as if working for the Lord, including how we treat our colleagues, subordinates, oг superiors. How do you treat them? By being kind, respectful and appreciative towards others, we reflect Christ's love
Follow David's lead: treat others with dignity and kindness. Check his attitude to these mighty men in 2 Samuel 23-13-17. Whether at work, or in our communities, let us create a culture of respect and appreciation. In doing so, we honour God and show His love to those around us, even today marks Workers Day and International Labour Day

PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord, help me to value and honour those around us, like David did with his workers.
2. Lord, grant me grace to treat others with dignity and kindness, reflecting Your love daily.
3. Pray for CAC Printing Press, the Chairman, the press manager and the staff as led by the Spirit of God.

SUGGESTED HYMN FOR TODAY:

8 8 6 D

1. Jesus Lord, how happy we are
That we are Thine own disciples,
We, who spend all our life
In service to God and to man,
We spend the day in good service
And use the night in pray'r.

2. We have no time to be lazy
Or moments to spend idly by;
We are pressing forward;
There's no weakness of the body
For those who serve and work for Thee,
Those who know Thee alone.

3. Times and seasons pass swiftly by
The hours are too small for our use;
To sing Thy wondrous praise
The joyful moments flee away;
We want to join the heav'nly host
To sing eternally.

4. We love, always, to sing Thy praise
With all the host of heav'n above
The shining white rob'd throng
That Holy, Holy, Holy sing
To sing around the throne of God
The everlasting song.
Amen.

LOVE AND MORALITY

MEMORISE
My son, if sinners entice you, do no consent (Proverbs 1:10)

READ:
Proverbs 1: 8-14

[8]. My son, hear the instruction of your father, and do not forsake the law of your mother;

[9]. For they will be a graceful ornament on your head, and chains about your neck.

[10]. My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent.

[11]. If they say, “Come with us, let us lie in wait to shed blood; let us lurk secretly for the innocent without cause;

[12]. Let us swallow them alive like Sheol, and whole, like those who go down to the Pit;

[13]. We shall find all kinds of precious possessions, we shall fill our houses with spoil;

[14]. Cast in your lot among us, let us all have one purse”—

EXPOSITION
In a world where young minds are targeted by deceitful voices, seeking God's guidance is crucial to combating prevalent lies. Firstly, the idea that having a boyfriend or girlfriend equals exposure is wrong (cf. Prov. 1:8; 14:12). Youths must fight pressures that are compromising commitment to God's standard in the choice of life partners wisely, guided by God's wisdom (Jn 3:16). Secondly, the health impacts of abstinence are crucial. Contrary to misconceptions, abstaining from s*x not only prevents infections but also aligns with God's purity design (Lam. 3:22-23). Thirdly, the idea that premarital s*xual experience is necessary for marriage preparation is godless. God's plan for marriage involves waiting for the appointed time. Also, it does not cause childbirth difficulties, as seen in both personal experiences and biblical stories that show the purity of those who have successful marriages.
Lastly, stop confusing love with s*x. Prioritise s*x inside marriage; not premarital, or extramarital (1 Cor. 6:18). To defeat deception, cling to God's truth. Note: Virginity aligns with the timeless principles of God's Word.

PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord Jesus, protect our youth from deceit that pulls them away from Your will in these times.
2. Lord, grant our youth the patience to wait until marriage before s*xual activity.
3. Pray for the CAC Department of Christian Education, the Director and the staff as led by the Spirit of God.

6 4 6 4 6 6 4 4

1. More love to Thee, O Christ,
More love to Thee
Hear Thou the pray'r I make
On bended knee
This is my earnest plea
More love, O Christ To Thee
More love to Thee!
More love to Thee!

2. Once earthly joy I crave,
Sought peace and rest
Now Thee alone I seek,
Give what is best
This all my pray'r shall be
More love O Christ, to Thee,
More love to Thee!
More love to Thee!

3. Let sorrow do its work,
Send grief and pain;
Sweet are Thy messengers,
Sweet their refrain,
When they can sing with me
More love, O Christ, to Thee,
More love to Thee!
More love to Thee.

4. Then shall my latest breath
Whisper Thy praise;
This be my parting cry
My heart shall raise
This still its pray'r shall be
More love, O Christ, to Thee,
More love to Thee!
More love to Thee!
Amen

THE WONDER OF PRAISE

MEMORISE
Let the peoples praise You, O God; Let all the peoples praise You (Psalm 67:3).

READ:
Psalm 67-1-7

[1]. God be merciful to us and bless us, and cause His face to shine upon us, Selah

[2]. That Your way may be known on earth, Your salvation among all nations.

[3]. Let the peoples praise You, O God; let all the peoples praise You.

[4]. Oh, let the nations be glad and sing for joy!
For You shall judge the people righteously, and govern the nations on earth. Selah

[5]. Let the peoples praise You, O God; let all the peoples praise You.

[6]. Then the earth shall yield her increase; God, our own God, shall bless us.

[7]. God shall bless us, and all the ends of the earth shall fear Him.

EXPOSITION
Nothing compares to the power of praise (Psa. 67:6). In the book of Psalm, praising and acknowledging God take centre stage. It is clear that God desires His people to recognise His majesty and power. We are designed to praise, serve and acknowledge Him for who He is and what He does. To do otherwise is to miss the purpose of our existence (cf Rev. 4:11). The psalmist envisions all nations praising God, acknowledging His righteous reign and seeking His guidance. This universal scope of God's blessings reveals a divine plan for us all. He portrays God as the ultimate Source of joy and guidance. This joy isn't fleeting but rooted in God's eternal nature, accessible through praise
Praise brings about abundant divine blessings. Knowing our purpose to praise God, we should adopt this habit to experience His miracles in our lives (cf. 2 Chro. 20:21-23; Acts 16:25). Embrace the wonder of praise and witness its transformative power in your life. One of the peculiar ways we can praise God is to sincerely show our dancing steps as the Psalmist did, even as today is International Dance Day

PRAYER POINTS
1. Glorify God for His character and deeds.
2. Pray that God will grant you a heart filled with sincere gratitude to God, yielding divine increase and abundance.
3. Pray for CAC Anosike Region, our father in the Lord, the Regional Superintendent, and other officers at the various levels as led by the Spirit of God

SUGGESTED HYMN FOR TODAY:

11 11 11 11 & Ref

1. Praise the King of Glory,
He is God alone:
Praise Him for the wonders,
He to us hath shown;
For His promised presence,
All the pilgrim way,
For the flaming pillar,
And the cloud by day.

Chorus:
Praise …Him, shining angels,
Strike …Your harps of gold,
All ….His hosts adore Him,
Who….His face behold;
Through …His great dominion.
While …the ages roll
All His works shall praise Him
All His works shall praise Him
Bless the Lord, my soul!.

2. Praise Him for redemption, free to every soul;
Praise Him for the Fountain that can make us whole;
For His gifts of Kindness and His loving care,
For the blest assurance that He answers prayer.

3. Praise Him for the trials sent as cords of love
Binding us more closely to the things above;
For the faith that conquers, hope that naught can dim,
For the land where loved ones gather unto Him.
Amen.

MEMORISE
And Bezalel and Aholiab, and every gifted artisan in whom the LORD has put wisdom and understanding... shall do according to all that the LORD has commanded (Exodus 36:1).

READ:
Exodus 39:32-43
[32]. Thus all the work of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting was finished. And the children of Israel did according to all that the Lord had commanded Moses; so they did.

[33]. And they brought the tabernacle to Moses, the tent and all its furnishings: its clasps, its boards, its bars, its pillars, and its sockets;

[34]. the covering of ram skins dyed red, the covering of badger skins, and the veil of the covering;

[35]. the ark of the Testimony with its poles, and the mercy seat;

[36]. the table, all its utensils, and the showbread;

[37]. the pure gold lampstand with its lamps (the lamps set in order), all its utensils, and the oil for light;

[38]. the gold altar, the anointing oil, and the sweet incense; the screen for the tabernacle door;

[39]. the bronze altar, its grate of bronze, its poles, and all its utensils; the laver with its base;

[40]. the hangings of the court, its pillars and its sockets, the screen for the court gate, its cords, and its pegs; all the utensils for the service of the tabernacle, for the tent of meeting;

[41]. and the garments of ministry, to minister in the holy place: the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and his sons’ garments, to minister as priests.

[42]. According to all that the Lord had commanded Moses, so the children of Israel did all the work.

[43]. Then Moses looked over all the work, and indeed they had done it; as the Lord had commanded, just so they had done it. And Moses blessed them.

EXPOSITION
God instructed Moses to choose skilled artisans to build the tabernacle. Moses selected those who weren't only gifted and wise but also willing to help Bezalel and Aholiab with stirred hearts (Exo. 35:5: 36:2). These artisans crafted various items for the tabernacle-the Ark of Covenant, the showbread table, the gold lampstand, and the priestly garments. They also managed the materials, constructed the tabernacle court, and accounted for the priesthood garments. With their swift work, the skilled artisans completed the tabernacle
The anointed/gifted artisans cooperated without rivalry to fulfil the LORD'S instructions (1 Cor. 3:8-9), showing humility and obedience to God's servants. Moses recognised their efforts. Supporting God's servants in their vision brings divine blessings. As a skilled professional, God has blessed you to bless your community, humanity and the Church. Ministry isn't limited to the pulpit your profession is also a platform for serving God.

PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord Jesus, make me a blessing to my church and all believers.
2. God, please help me finish my task before my time is up.
3. Father, free Your Church from competition and rivalry, replacing them with cooperation and unity.

SUGGESTED HYMN FOR TODAY:

8 6 8 6 8 6

1. Dismiss me not Thy service, Lord,
But train me for Thy will;
For even I, in fields so broad,
Some duties may fulfil;
And I will ask for no reward,
Except to serve Thee still.

2. How many serve, how many more
May to the service come;
To tend the vines, the grapes to store,
Thou dost appoint for some;
Thou hast Thy young men at the war
Thy little ones at home.

3. All works are good, and each is best
As most it pleases Thee;
Each worker pleases when the rest
He serves in charity;
And neither man nor work unblest
Wilt Thou permit to be.

4. Our Master all the work hath done
He asks of us to-day;
Sharing His service, every one
Share too His Sonship may:
Lord, I would serve and be a son;
Dismiss me not, I pray.
Amen.

MEMORISE
And Moses said to the children of Israel, "See, the LORD has called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah" (Exodus 35:30).

READ:
Exodus 31:1-11

[1]. Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:

[2]. “See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah.

[3]. And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship,

[4]. to design artistic works, to work in gold, in silver, in bronze,

[5]. in cutting jewels for setting, in carving wood, and to work in all manner of workmanship.

[6]. “And I, indeed I, have appointed with him Aholiab the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan; and I have put wisdom in the hearts of all the gifted artisans, that they may make all that I have commanded you:

[7]. the tabernacle of meeting, the ark of the Testimony and the mercy seat that is on it, and all the furniture of the tabernacle

[8]. the table and its utensils, the pure gold lampstand with all its utensils, the altar of incense,

[9]. the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils, and the laver and its base—

[10]. the garments of ministry, the holy garments for Aaron the priest and the garments of his sons, to minister as priests,

[11]. and the anointing oil and sweet incense for the holy place. According to all that I have commanded you they shall do.”

EXPOSITION
Nowadays, there is more emphasis on learning practical skills, like crafts rather than white-collar jobs. The Nigerian government has set up a Technical University to certify artisans' education. An artisan is one who performs skilled work with their hands, and God has designed the world for both educated and artisans to help each other. The role of artisans in daily activities and ministry is crucial. God chose specific individuals to handle the artistic work of the Tabernacle, not just anyone.
I have called by name: Bezalel was chosen to be an artisan and gifted with creativity. Every profession is a calling!
Just as God ensured artisans, like Bezalel were traceable (Exo. 31:2, 6; 1 Chro. 2:20; cf. Ezra 7:1-5), are you identifiable in your profession? Who is your mentor?
That Bezalel was a Spirit-filled artisan shows that the in-filling of the Holy Spirit isn't restricted to those in the pulpit.
Verses 1-5 explain the purpose of calling and filling, showing that every job requires anointing to work well.

PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord, anoint me for the works You have placed in my hands.
2. Lord, grant me the needed wisdom, knowledge and understanding to succeed in my work.
3. Father, make me useful for You in my profession, in Jesus' name.
