WE WILL NOT FORGET

What would it look like to live in a world where people never forget anything they want to remember? Is there such a world? Our world is a place where people of brilliance, education, and genius habitually forget basic common sense.

This is what apostle Paul acknowledged when he wrote to a young leader, "Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work,...and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works" (Titus 3:1,8).

This shows that the people of God need to be reminded of what they already know, lest they forget who they are, how they got that way, and how they should live. We need to remind one another to remember the Lord, His love, and His ability to lead us through the jungles, deserts, swamps, mountains, oceans, valleys, and thorn patches of life.

The psalmist echoes it in Psalms 103:2, "Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:" It is a command. This is because forgetting is not neutral. It leads to drifting and drifting leads to dryness. Dryness leads to compromise.

The truth is that what we remember determines how we live. It is written in Psalms 119:89, "For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven."

"And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up." (Deuteronomy 6:6-7).

The warning is contained in Psalms 9:17, "The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God."..."And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:" (Hebrews 9:27).

We will not forget the warnings. Romans 3:23 states, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" Moreso, Romans 6:23 adds "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

We will remember that there is a way out in Christ and in our confessions. "That if (we) shalt confess with (our) mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in (our) heart that God hath raised him from the dead, (we) shalt be saved." (Romans 10:9).

The Holy Spirit will remind us of John 1:12; "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:"

Our memories shall be refreshed by the words of the Lord in John 5:24 "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life."

Surely, we shall be put in remembrance of the message in 1 John 5:13, "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God."

Yes, we will remind one another of the promise of the risen Christ in Revelation 3:20, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me."

In our journey while still on the earth here, we will not forget to take solace in 1 Corinthians 10:13, "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."

We will not forget the hand that withheld us from sin we did not see coming.
We will not forget the blood that speaks a better word than every accusation.
We will not forget the God who guards the promise even when we compromise.

We will not forget to rely on the teachings of the Holy Spirit who "shall teach (us) all things, and bring all things to (our) remembrance"(John 14:26). May He continues to "guide (us) into all truth:..and show (us) things to come."(16:23) in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen and amen.

The Lord in Matthew 11:28 says, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

The Lord will take away the yoke of oppression and obsession from you and replace it with the divine yoke of prayer, witnessing, holiness, and giving (Matthew 11:29).

You will shine forth more and more in His Kingdom business.

And, by the decree of Heaven, the mercy of God shall open doors of breakthrough for you and your household in Jesus' name. Amen.

THE MYSTERY OF DIVINE PROTECTION

Divine protection is not the absence of trouble but the presence of God(Psalms 46:1; 23:4; Acts 18:9-10;23:4). It is not random but relational based on lineage. It is written in Psalms 91:1, "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty."

Further, the prophet Isaiah revealed God's willI, "When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee." (Isaiah 43:2).

God's protection is real, but it is not automatic. It is tied to obedience, wisdom, and abiding (Psalms 91:1; 121:3-4).

There are battles you do not fight because God fought them while you slept (2Kings 6:16-17; Ephesians 6:10-11).

The greatest proof of God's protection is the attack that never reached you. In most cases, your safety is tied to who you belong to and not necessarily what you do (Exodus 12:12-13; Romans 8:33).

Mystery is intriguing, but we need to know what it does for us today. The story of Abraham and his wife in Gerar reveals the mystery of God's protection (Genesis 20). It can be preventive, protective, and restorative.

Abraham lied as he did in Genesis 12 in Egypt. He lied that Sarah was his sister, so the King Abimelech would not kill him. By human standard, Sarah should have been taken. Abraham should have lost his wife, and the promise of God should have been destroyed. But nothing happened because God stepped in.

Divine protection is about God stopping a person from committing the act that would destroy him and others. These are sins we never commit because God intervened in our conscience.

Abimelech took Sarah and was planning to have her as wife, but God prevented him from committing a grievous sin. "And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her." (Genesis 20:6).

God stopped Abimelech before the sin happened. Divine protection is preventive. It is a mystery!

Divine protection is also preservative. Sarah was protected by the covenant that through her, the child of promise would be born. God shut Abimelech's household from having children until Sarah was returned to Abraham (Genesis 20:18).6 The preservative nature of God kept Sarah pure and Isaac's line intact.

It is written in Psalms 105:14-15, "He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes; Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm."

God's protection is real and restorative. Abraham would have lost his wife due to his lie, but God stepped in. God did that not because Abraham earned it but because the covenant was bigger than his fear (Genesis 20:11; 1 Peter 1:18-19).The restorative nature of God restored Abraham to his calling even after failure.

From our brief study of Genesis 20, Abraham messed up. Sarah was vulnerable, and Abimelech was innocent of intent. Yet God moved on all three fronts without anyone asking Him to - that’s the mystery!

"For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion."(Romans 9:15).

"Every place whereon the soles of your feet shall tread shall be yours:..even unto the uttermost sea shall your coast be" (Deuteronomy 11:24).

"There shall no man be able to stand before you: for the LORD your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you upon all the land that ye shall tread upon, as he hath said unto you" (Deuteronomy 11: 25).

There shall be no weeping and no sorrow in your home and ministry in Jesus' mighty name.

From this week, all we shall hear concerning you and your household shall be shout of joy and rejoicing(Psalm 118:15). Amen and amen 🙏 👏🏻🙌

In the plan of God, prayer was never meant to stop with our own needs. When we lift others before God, something powerful happens, not just for them, but in us too. Intercession pulls us into God’s heart for people, unleashes His power into impossible situations, and builds a kind of unity the world can not manufacture.

From the early church to today, every move of God has been fueled by people who stood in the gap for someone else. Praying for others does not just change their story. It rewrites ours.

How many of us are quick to pray when we have a need but slow down when the burden belongs to someone else?

The truth is, God designed prayer to be bigger than our personal wish list. When Paul wrote “I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions... be made for all people” in 1 Timothy 2:1, he was revealing a kingdom principle: Intercession is where God’s power meets human need, and where our hearts are shaped to look like His.

When we pray for others, chains break in their lives, but some things also break in us like pride, apathy, isolation, and hatred. Suddenly, we are partners with heaven, standing in the gap until we see God’s will done on earth (Matthew 6:10).

Praying for others is not just noble. It is beneficial for them, for us, and for the purposes of God in our cities.

Our prayers for others do not return empty. They release power, build unity, and form Christ in us (Galatians 4:19).

We are all products of the Lord's high priestly prayer in John 17:20. Being a beneficiary of an intercession, we need to play our part.

When we lift others before God, there will be peace in our society (1 Timothy 2:1-2; Jeremiah 29:7).

Intercession produces labourers for the kingdom service (Matthew 9:36-37) and births revival (2 Chronicles 7:14).

It is when we pray for others and the church that "the gates of hell shall not prevail against it" (Matthew 16:18).

Times of refreshing will come into the individual's life, and the nation as men repent from their sins through men's intercession (Acts 3:19-21).

Intercession helps us to pray aright and pray the mind of God through the help of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:26).

When we stand in the gap for others, it could cause God to relent-change His mind over a situation (Exodus 32:13-14; Ezekiel 22:30-31; Jeremiah 9:17-22).

As we lift others before God, it transforms our lives as we begin to learn His ways (Psalms 103:7). It causes God to reveal His secrets to us (Deuteronomy 29:29; Psalms 25:14; Amos 3:7), and causes our own captivity to be turned (Job 42:10).

When we pray for others, they will not only be blessed, but it will cause us to be known and respected even by the agents of the devil (Acts 19:15). And we shall become friends of the Lord like Enoch, Abraham, and Elijah (John 15:14).

Intercession can prevent mass destruction of lives and property (1 Samuel 25:32-33; Esther 4:14). It can bring surprise answers even beyond faith (Acts 12:5,13-16) and bring divine judgment on arch-enemy of the Church (12:1-3;21-23).

Happily, when we counsel and pray for others, it can lead to our own deliverance (Genesis 40:12-14; Job 42:10-12).

When the saints pray, the angels at the throne of heaven will add incense to the prayers (Revelation 8:1-4) and it attracts tangible blessings from God to us as stewards (Luke 6:38; Psalms 62:10).

Today, there are divine vacancies in the industry of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is the vacancies for the intercessors. Will you make yourself available for this throne ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit? (Romans 8:26-27,34; Jeremiah 5:1; Ezekiel 22:30)

"See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant" (Jeremiah 1:10).

In the name above all names, every satanic plantation disturbing your health and that of your family is hereby rooted out and destroyed. Amen.

The Lord will set you on high, and any kingdom set against your destiny shall be pulled down.

Henceforth, everything will work together for your divine upliftment in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

WHO NEEDS THE CHURCH?

The booklet, WHO NEEDS THE CHURCH? was sent to me on request by RBC Ministries, Michigan, USA, now Our Daily Bread, (https://shop.odbm.org.uk/products/who-or-what-is-the-church?variant=50449320739117), twenty-five years ago when the Church arm of our Ministry, Christ Correspondence Ministries Inc. was established.

Here, I will adapt it for our study and meditation to help us discover our needs of a whole new attitude towards the church.

Some people are asking, "In a world of podcasts, livestreams, online faith, 'me and Jesus' culture, and solo spirituality, do we even need the church anymore?" Yes. God still says the church is non-negotiable (Hebrew 10:25; Matthew 18:20; Acts 2:42-47).

The Church includes all Christians worldwide(Acts 2:37-47; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Hebrews 12:23), and those who meet regularly in a local setting (1 Corinthians 1:2; Hebrews 10:23-25) to serve their Lord and one another with the teachings of the scriptures (2Timothy 3:16-17; Ephesians 5:19-20).

WHO NEEDS THE CHURCH? God desires a family of sons and daughters who will be like Him and exercise dominion over the creation. His love for man cost Him the sacrifice of His Son for the redemption of the world (John 3:16). The Son came, went about doing good (Acts 10:38), and eventually built His Church (Matthew 16:18; Acts 2:42-47; 20:28).

The Church is God's answer to people's blind spots, battles, and becoming a connected Christians (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12; 1 Corinthians 12)

The New Testament shows some different ways of describing those who need the church. In each case, we should be able to see both ourselves and others.

BROKEN PEOPLE needs the Church. These are people who have come to the end of themselves. Those who have been humble not only by God but also before others. They are the ones who are willing to admit personal needs, vulnerabilities, dangers, and spiritual crises that the author of Hebrews warns of (Hebrews 3:12-15; 10:23-25).

DEPENDENT PEOPLE needs the church. God has made the members to be dependent on one another like the parts of the body (1 Corinthians 12:12-31). No member of the church is ever justified in feeling he can do it alone or that he is more important than others. We are interdependent members of the same body and should be ready to use our gifts and abilities to help one another.

IMPERFECT PEOPLE needs the Church. Churches, at their best, are made up of entirely imperfect people. Every member struggles daily with old ways of self-centeredness, self-sufficiency, pride, and an inclination to return insult for insult. This picture can be found in 1 John 1:5-2:4. No wonder the Lord says in Matthew 5:48, "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."

TEACHABLE PEOPLE needs the Church. The church exists for the education of people who need to learn a new language of love, a new philosophy, logic, history, sociology, music, and a new view of relationships (Ephesians 4:11-18). The Church exists to be of help to those who are uneducated in the ways of Christ to see the difference His thoughts can make when applied to the disappointments of home life, insecurities of the work place and in other relationships.

FORGETFUL PEOPLE needs the Church. The apostle Paul acknowledged this in his letter to Titus on how to help the church. He wrote, "PUT them in remembrance..."(Titus 3:1). Remind them to obey lawful orders while doing their missionary assignments. The members need to be reminded of what they already know but are yet to comply with.

TROUBLED PEOPLE needs the Church. The Lord declared His mission in Luke 4:18, "... because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised," The church need to take care of those who are weak and in need of encouragement, comfort, and support (1 Thessalonians 5:9-15).

LOST PEOPLE needs the Church. Lost people are cut off from help, resources, shelter, protection, and protection. Disoriented people need help. It is the mission of Jesus Christ "to seek and to save that which was lost" (Luke 19:10). The Church has been given a special ability to communicate Christ to a lost world (Ephesians 4:11), spread His message of grace (Matthew 28:19-20), and has been empowered to rescue those who are perishing and lost (Acts 1:8; 1Thessalonians 5:11-18).

Perhaps you have had a bad experience with organized church or have seen bad examples of leadership in the church. Do not let what hurt you keep you from what can heal you! Even Jesus Christ was hurt (Zechariah 13:6; John 16:32), hence, He built the church to help those who are hurt. Today, you can find a healthy expression of the body of Christ and be connected.

Be informed that Hebrews 10:25 was not written to people with great churches. It was written to people who were tired, persecuted, and tempted to quit meeting together. The exhortation remains, "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." (Hebrews 10:25).

As you move out in the pursuit of your destiny assignment today, "The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:"(Numbers 6:24).

"The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace." (Numbers 6:25-26).

By the power in the name of Jesus Christ, every gate, every barrier, every obstacle limiting your accelerated progress in life is hereby lifted up and destroyed.

From now on, your journey to success in life shall be smooth, and you will enter into the realm of unlimited glory in Jesus' name. Amen.
