Thank you the Daily Champion Newspaper for the feature. This year's 38th annual s CYON Archdiocese of Lagos Youth Day was truly one for the record books.

The first time we have had an official representative from the Lagos State Government in the person of Honourable Mobolaji Ogublende, the Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Social Development who ably represented the Executive Governor of Lagos State.

We also had for the first time, the National Youth Animator, Very. Rev. Boniface Idoko who is in charge of all youth groups in Nigeria.

For God and for youth... through Christ!

Remember to in who you are and what you do.

Earlier this month I was privileged to appear on the largest Catholic television network in West Africa, Lumen Christi Television Network - LCTN together with the chairman of the planning committee, Leo Kadri, to discuss the upcoming 38th edition of the annual CYON Archdiocese of Lagos Archdiocesan Youth Day (AYD) taking place at Chrisland School, Isolo on the 11th of August 2024.

The Archdiocesan Youth Day is an annual event that brings together youth from various parishes within the Lagos Archdiocese for a day of spiritual renewal and it is packed with activities aimed at empowering and inspiring young people to become active participants in society as well as a platform to showcase their talents and skills through various competitions and performances.

Due to the usually enormous logistical requirements of this event, we have partnered with Shuttlers to convey the expected 6,000 plus youths that would be attending the event. The largest gathering of Catholic youths in Western Nigeria.

Special thanks to the management of Lumen Christi TV for giving us the opportunity to come and discuss our upcoming pilgrimage. Lumen Christi would also be televising this year’s AYD so stay tuned to Lumen Chrisit TV, channel 350 on DStv.

Remember to in who you are and what you do.

In case you missed it...

Catch up with the word for today to set the tone for a blessed and productive week courtesy Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Baraka-Gukena Okami :

The Gospel of today warns us against allowing familiarity with sacred persons, places and things to tempt us to contempt. It also reveals to us how lack of faith can become an obstacle to our blessings and our experience of God's power.

I believe we all have relatives, friends, colleagues, members of our family who are having faith crises - some who are angry with God, some who do not believe in God, some who are staunch atheists and some who are just indifferent to the faith.

Grace and peace to you dear friends in Christ. The readings of today give us so much to think about it. In today's Gospel, we see the reaction to the miracle of exorcism by Jesus. Some people crowded around Him so that He couldn't eat and His family thought he was besides himself. The religious lead...

Refresh on Sunday with Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Baraka-Gukena Okami is a time to be re-energised and reinvigorated by the Word of God. Today's message is titled 'Do not let your heart's be troubled'. Read here:

In today's Gospel, Jesus told His disciples "Do not let your hearts be troubled." In other words, the heart may want to be agitated, disturbed, anxious or unsettled (tarassesthō), but do not give it permission ('Do not let' is 'mē' in Greek and it means something like "never permit, intentionally ...

The gospel should not be for Sundays alone. However, we look forward to Sunday sermon courtesy Rev. Fr Emmanuel Baraka-Gukena Okami. Today's message is titled 'Reflecting on the Trinity'. Read here:

Today is the first Sunday after the Pentecost celebration. We have been refreshed by the Holy Spirit and so, enlightened by the Spirit of God, the Church wants us to reflect on the mystery of God's nature, His inner life and relationship - God as three persons.
