Sunday Service Message Report
10th May, 2026
Preacher: Rev. Vandi James
Topic: Are We Turning the World to Jesus, or Is the World Turning Us Away from Jesus?
Text: Acts 17:6
The preacher emphasized that the apostles in the early Church were actively turning people away from darkness, sin, and worldly living into holiness and salvation through Christ. He challenged believers today by asking:
What about your own case? Are we influencing the world for Christ, or is the world influencing us away from Him?
He reminded the Church that according to Matthew, believers are called to be the light and salt of the world. However, many churches today are gradually becoming more worldly instead of remaining spiritually distinct.
Ways the Devil Uses to Turn the Church Away from Christ
1. Through a Different Gospel
The preacher explained that false teachings are being used to retain members and attract crowds.
Galatians 1:6
This “different gospel” replaces the true message of salvation with the message of material wealth and mammon. Matthew 6:24
2. Preaching What People’s Itching Ears Want to Hear
Many ministers avoid preaching repentance and holiness, choosing instead to preach messages that please people rather than transform them spiritually.
2 Corinthians 4:3
3. Gospel Focused Only on Signs and Wonders
The message warned against a gospel centered only on miracles, signs, and wonders without genuine salvation, holiness, and discipleship.
4. Believers Becoming Conformed to the World
Christians are gradually adopting worldly lifestyles, values, and behaviors instead of living differently as followers of Christ.
“If there is no difference between darkness and light, then there is no need for light.”
Conclusion
The preacher ended by challenging believers to reflect deeply on how they can genuinely turn people from the world to Christ.
To be continued next Sunday with the concluding part of the message:
How Believers Can Turn People from the World to Christ.
