One:
Exodus 20:3
“You shall have no other gods before me.”

When Israel stood at the foot of Mount Sinai,
they had already been rescued.

God did not gather slaves in Egypt and say,
“Obey Me first so I will save you.”
He delivered them first.

He broke Pharaoh’s grip, opened the sea,
carried them through the wilderness,
and only then did He speak these words,
“You shall have no other gods before Me.”

The first commandment begins
with relationship before responsibility.

This command was not simply
about abandoning statues
or rejecting foreign religions.

Israel had just come out of Egypt,
a land full of visible gods, competing powers,
and constant reminders to place trust
in something other than the Lord.

They had seen people pray to the Nile,
worship the sun, trust kings, and
build their lives around created things.

Now God was teaching His people
something completely different,
You belong to Me.

The command was never merely,
“Do not worship another god.”

It was, "Do not place anything
in the position that belongs only to Me."

That is still the struggle today.

Most of us are not tempted to bow
before carved idols, but we are constantly
tempted to trust other things more than God.

Sometimes the idol is achievement.
Sometimes it is approval.
Sometimes it is relationships.
Sometimes it is comfort.
Sometimes it is ministry itself.

An idol is not always a bad thing.
Often it is a good thing that quietly
became the ultimate thing.

What receives your deepest trust?
What controls your emotions?
What occupies your thoughts
when you wake up and before you sleep?

That may reveal what sits
on the throne of your heart.

Jesus later revealed that this
commandment was never outdated.
When asked about the greatest commandment,
He answered, “Love the Lord your God
with all your heart and with all your soul
and with all your mind.” (Matthew 22:37)

God does not ask for partial devotion.
He asks for first place.

Because He knows that every
lesser god eventually disappoints.

Success cannot save.
People cannot sustain.
Comfort cannot satisfy.
Only God can carry the real
weight of being God.

In reality, the beautiful invitation of this
commandment is not guilt, it is freedom.

God is not trying to take joy from us.
He is freeing us from trusting
things too small to hold us.

Today, ask honestly,
What has been competing with God in my heart?

Then surrender it.
Not because you are trying to earn His love,
but because you already belong to Him.

SERIES INTRO: "THE TEN: FROM STONE TO SAVIOR.

Church, can we talk honestly for a minute?

A lot of us hear "Ten Commandments" and we immediately get tired.
We think: _Rules. Pressure. Try harder. Don’t do this, don’t do that.

But what if we’ve been reading it backwards?

See, before God ever gave Israel a single "Thou shalt not"...
He first reminded them of something.
*"I am the LORD your God... who brought you out of Egypt."* Exodus 20:2

Did you catch that?
Rescue first. Then rules.

God didn’t say “Obey Me and I’ll save you.”
He said “I already saved you. Now let me show you how free people live.”

Obedience was never the price to earn His love.
It’s the response of people who’ve already been loved and rescued.

So what’s the balance here? Law and Jesus.

In the Old Testament, God wrote the Law on stone.
And the stone was perfect. But we were not.

We tried. Israel tried. And we all failed.
Not because the Law was bad.
But because the Law was never meant to save us.

Think of it like a mirror.
A mirror will show you that your face is dirty.
But the mirror cannot wash your face.

That’s what the Law does. It diagnoses. It exposes.
Galatians 3:24 calls it a schoolmaster. It leads us to the end of ourselves...
So we’ll cry out for mercy.

The Law says, _“Be holy.”
And we look at our lives and say, _“Lord, I can’t.”
And that’s exactly where God wants us. Broken. Dependent.

Then Jesus came.
Matthew 5:17 - He said _“I did not come to cancel the Law. I came to fulfill it.”

Where we failed, He obeyed.
Where we broke it, He took the punishment for us. Gal 3:13
And now, Ezekiel 36:26 — He doesn’t write on stone anymore.
He writes on our hearts.

So in Christ, the Law is not thrown away. It’s completed.
He is the mercy we needed.
He is the righteousness we couldn’t produce.
He is the Love that all 10 Commandments were pointing to anyway:
_Love God. Love your neighbor._

So what are we doing for the next 10 days?

We’re going to walk through each Commandment. One by one.

But hear me — the goal is not to make you feel guilty.
The goal is to make you look to Jesus.

For each one we’ll ask:
1. What does this tell me about God’s heart?
2. What does this show me about my own heart?
3. And how did Jesus fulfill this, and how does He live it through me now?

This is not “Try harder to be a better Christian.”
This is “Look at the One who was perfect for you... and He now lives in you.”

So welcome to "THE TEN: FROM STONE TO SAVIOR"
Not a burden. A blueprint.
Not guilt. But gratitude.

Because the Law shows us our need.
And Christ meets our need.

Family, pause here…

Jesus didn’t say “try to be salt and light.”
He said *“YOU ARE.”* _Matt 5:13-14_

That means your presence matters.
Your obedience matters.
Your shine matters — even when it’s dark around you.

*Exhortation:*
You are here to preserve what’s good,
bring healing where there’s hurt,
and be a lighthouse for someone lost.

*Today’s Declaration:*
_I will stand firm. I will shine bright._
_My light will point others to Christ._

_“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me”_ – Gal 2:20

*Exhortation:*
Family, the version of you that kept losing, doubting, and striving in your own strength… died on the cross.

The life you’re living now is not yours alone. *Christ lives in you.*
That means His strength, His wisdom, His victory is now your supply.

Stop fighting from weakness. Start walking in His strength.

*Declare this today:* _It’s not I, but Christ in me._ 👇

> Day 1

Family, read this slow!

Before anyone rejected you, God chose you.

Before you failed, God called you a royal priesthood.

Before the world gave you a label, Heaven gave you an identity: _His own possession._ *1 Peter 2:9*

*Exhortation:*
You are not struggling to be accepted.
You are living from the place of being chosen.

*Declare this* _I am chosen by God, and that settles it._

*Day 1 of 31. Let’s walk this together.*

Hello Family… What if July changed the next 6 months of your life?

We’re not entering July casually. We’re entering it _anchored_.

*31 DAYS OF TRUTH* starts tomorrow.
*1 Verse. 1 Exhortation. Every 6:00 AM.*

No 30-minute devotionals you’ll never finish.

No religious pressure.

Just God’s Word, sharp and short, to renew your mind when life is loud. *Rom 12:2*

*For 31 days we’ll walk together through:*
*IDENTITY* – You’re not an accident. You’re chosen.
*PURPOSE* – God already prepared works for you.
*ASSURANCE* – You are saved, heard, held, and eternal.
*THE BROKEN PLACES* – Depression, fear, lack, pain… God meets you there.
*VICTORY* – We don’t end in tears. We end in triumph. *1 Cor 15:57*

*Here’s all I’m asking from you:*
1. *Be here 6:00 AM* – Just read it. Let it sit in your spirit.
2. *Declare it* – When you see _“Declare this: I am *_*_”_, type it. Your mouth will agree with Heaven. *2 Cor 4:13*
3. *Stay till the end* – Last Sunday we’ll share: _“How one verse kept me”_

I believe someone in this group will say on July 31st, _“That one verse kept me alive.”_

So tag the person you’re doing July with 👇
Day 1 drops tomorrow 6:00 AM sharp. Meet me at the Word.
