With great expectations in the heart of every leaders and participants present at the meeting, the conference began with an opening prayer, followed by an amazing session of worship by the Loveworld Singers, that literally brought down the presence of God, in the auditorium. This set ready every participants to receive of the Word and be transformed.
The session was immediately followed by another session of prayers, led by the Esteemed Bro. Steve Adzufeh, that further prepared the heart of the brethren to receive as they prayed for the impact of the meeting in the live of every leader, even as prayers were also made for the lost and all our brethren in the faith of the gospel of Christ.
After all of these, the Man of God, Pastor Frank stepped in, full of glory to share with the brethren. He began by highliting the importance of the conference to the leaders present, and also highlited 15 things the conference intended to achieve in all the churches under the group, and in the lives of every leader that will be attending the conference for effective leadership.
The conference opened with a strong call by Pastor Frank, to commitment, spiritual growth, training, and effective leadership in the work of God. The Man of God, emphasized the importance of adequate training and preparation for those called to serve in the house of God, with particular attention given to the responsibilities of church workers and leaders.
In emphasizing further the importance of training for every leader, Pastor Frank, said training gives a man who is well trained the advantage over others. Speaking on the importance of training, the man of God highlighted three major benefits of training for those engaged in ministry. According to him, training gives an individual an advantage, prepares one for challenges ahead, and distinguishes a person who has been specially called by God.
Reading from Matthew 4:18-25, the Man of God, emphasized that responding to God's call is a privilege and should be treated with seriousness and dedication.
He further reminded participants that working in the house of God is a privilege and not a favour done to God. Those serving in God's house, therefore, are expected to approach their responsibilities with gratitude, commitment, and a deep sense of responsibility.
As a call to active participation in ministry, Pastor Frank
referened Acts 20:28, and warned against becoming inactive or careless in the things of God, describing it as dangerous ground for anyone entrusted with responsibility in the house of God.
Participants at the conference and leaders were reminded that the work of the ministry must remain a top priority, because it is God's work. The Man of God, during the session further stressed that responsibilities within the church are spiritual assignments, given through the Holy Spirit and entrusted to individuals through Pastors and church Leaders.
Particular emphasis was placed on the role of cell leaders. Pastor noted that a cell leader functions as an overseer and must therefore give every responsibility entrusted to them the highest level of attention and priority.
Pastor Frank, further stated that leaders must lead by example. The Man of God Pastor Frank, also addressed the conduct and attitude expected of church leaders. He emphasized that it is inappropriate for leaders to arrive late for church services and meetings, stressing that leaders must demonstrate commitment through their actions.
The Man of God, also cautioned church leaders, workers, and everyone present at the conference against treating church services and our fellow with God casually, or allowing other activities to distract us during service while God's presence is being experienced in the congregation. Leaders and workers were further encouraged not to discourage or diminish the zeal of the people they are leading through negligence, poor commitment, or lack of cooperation.
Another major emphasis of the session was the need for church leaders to remain continually filled with the Holy Spirit.
According to the the man of God, a leader who is continually filled with the Holy Spirit, will not lack freshness and will not run dry spiritually. Leaders were therefore encouraged to avoid carnality and deliberately cultivate a strong spiritual life.
The Man of God, also charged participants to consistently spend time improving themselves and building their capacity, emphasizing that personal development and spiritual growth are essential to effective leadership.
Pastor Frank also noted that Jesus, never failed because He consistently sought to do the will of the Father. Participants were encouraged to adopt the same attitude of obedience and submission in their service to God.
The session further highlighted that one of the ways a leader can succeed in ministry is by pleasing and following the direction of the pastor, emphasizing the importance of alignment, obedience, and submission to spiritual leadership.
Scriptures including Luke 22:41–42, John 4:34, and John 6:28 were referenced to reinforce the importance of doing God's will above personal desires.
The session concluded with a strong call for spiritual maturity, and personal development, drawing from Hebrews 5:12 and 1 Corinthians 3:1.
The scriptures served as a reminder that those who have been in the faith and in ministry for some time must continue to grow beyond spiritual infancy and develop the capacity required for greater responsibilities. In others words, leaders are encouraged to grow from being children that need milk, to adults the requires strong meat.
Overall, Day 1 of the "Church on a Mission Conference" provided a strong foundation for the conference, challenging church workers and leaders to recognize the privilege of their calling, embrace continuous training, remain spiritually refreshed, demonstrate exemplary leadership, and give the work of the ministry the priority it deserves.
The message was clear: those called to serve God must prepare themselves, remain spiritually alive, lead by example, and faithfully pursue the will of God.
