*MÉDITATION – 3ᵉ DIMANCHE DU CARÊME (ANNÉE A)*

(Luke 15:17-19)
The parable of the prodigal son highlights these key facts:

1) When we stray from God's presence and fellowship, we inevitably succumb to misery, much like Adam and Eve after they lost God's presence, resulting in isolation, pain, and nakedness.

2) Recognition of one's miserable state. The prodigal son acknowledged his suffering, decided to return to God, and recognized Him as the sole solution to his situation.

3) The prodigal son came to a decision. Decision-making is fundamental in our Christian faith. Shedding bad habits requires decision-making, and accomplishing success in life necessitates decision-making. Those who decline to make decisions risk failure. The prodigal son came to a decision and acted upon it.

4) The prodigal son reunited with his father. Decision-making must be accompanied by concrete actions. Inaction yields no outcomes. As James' letter stresses, our faith is measured by our actions. Galatians reiterates that we reap what we sow. Our actions are acknowledged by the Lord and will speak on our behalf. May God guide us in making decisions that will lead to our deliverance.

5) The father's arms remain open to those who have strayed, decided to return, and taken purposeful steps to come home. I pray for the resolve to return to Jesus, having decided to forsake our wicked ways and return to our Creator, who alone grants life and serenity.

The gospel is not just a message to be preached, but a life to be lived, and it is a reflection of our intimate relationship with God. Vocal proclamations alone do not bring conversion, but rather, it is the internal transformation that truly counts. The power of the Holy Spirit, working through the minister, has a profound impact on the lives of others. As you cultivate intimacy with God, you become a vessel of light, and you draw those around you to be impacted. Just as Jesus, who maintained a continuous intimacy and fellowship with His Master, attracted thousands of followers wherever He went.
