CELEBRATING 169 YEARS OF THE CMS NIGER MISSION

Today, St Luke’s Anglican Church, Ozalla, joins the entire Anglican Communion in celebrating the 169th anniversary of the arrival of the Church Missionary Society Niger Mission in Onitsha on 27 July 1857.

We thank God for the lives and sacrifices of Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther, the Reverend John Christopher Taylor and the other faithful missionaries through whom the light of the gospel reached Igboland. Their labour produced enduring fruits in evangelism, education, literacy and community development.

As we celebrate this remarkable heritage, may we remain steadfast in faith and committed to carrying the gospel of Jesus Christ to the next generation.
