ARE YOU REALLY HIS DISCIPLE?
BIBLE READING: JOHN 8:30-47; MARK 3:14-35; JOHN 21:19-25
"He answered them, “I told you already, and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you also want to become His Disciples?” Then they reviled him and said, "You are His Disciple, but we are Moses' disciples." John 9:27-28 (NKJV)
By the most fundamental of definitions, a Disciple is actually a follower or someone who follows and learns life lessons from his own master. As far as this Planet Earth is concerned, everybody must be a follower of someone or of something. This includes but isn't limited to your boss, your parents, your lecturer, a mentor, a celebrity you may admire, etc. All of these may make sense to you, but as the Truly Chosen of God, all of them are meaningless. The Only Standard or Rule given to Mankind by God to emulate is the Life of Christ Jesus, His Only Begotten Son. The Lord Jesus Christ is the Only Valid Standard. Therefore we must look unto Him (Jesus Christ) and always defend the Gospel of the Father (God Almighty) in the same manner He always did: "LOOKING UNTO JESUS, the Author and Finisher of our Faith, Who for the Joy that was set before Him endured the Cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the Right Hand of the Throne of God" (Heb. 12:2).
Every Disciple of Christ Jesus is a disciplined follower of His who is totally committed to adopting His Lifestyle, Teachings, and Values through Intimacy with Him. According to Mark 3:14, the Lord Jesus called Twelve normal men from various walks of life so that they may be with Him and learn from Him before deploying them to the Field to reap the Overripe Harvest. The manner in which Jesus chose His Disciples is the same way every other great leader including even satan himself recruits and trains their own disciples to spend time with them, believe in them and furthermore declare what they believe.
