TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE: CINY EXPRESSES DISAPPOINTMENT OVER BELATED EMPOWERMENT OF IGBO-EZE NORTH CONSTITUENCY II BY Hon. Clifford Nnaemeka Obe
The Concerned Igbo-Eze North Youth (CINY) has noted the recent distribution of just ten grinding machines to party women, one for each ward in Igbo-Eze North Constituency II, by the Honourable Member representing Umunano.

While we appreciate every genuine effort aimed at empowering our people, we must ask the question on the minds of many constituents: Why now?

After more than three years in office, is this the level of representation our people should celebrate? Is one grinding machine per ward an achievement worthy of applause after years of occupying such an important public office?

For over three years, where has our representative been? Why has his voice not been heard on issues affecting our people? What major projects, empowerment programmes, legislative interventions, or developmental achievements can he point to that have significantly improved the lives of the people of Igbo-Eze North Constituency II?

As the 2027 elections draw closer, it is disappointing that some politicians suddenly remember the people only when another election is approaching. Representation should be about consistent service, visible development, and accountability, not last-minute gestures designed to win public sympathy.

Our people deserve leaders who are present throughout their tenure, not only when campaign season begins. Empowerment should be a continuous commitment, not an event timed to coincide with political ambitions.

Sadly, this reflects the kind of selfish politics that has held our communities back for years, a politics where public office is treated as a means to secure re-election rather than a platform for selfless service.

CINY calls on the people of Igbo-Eze North to remain vigilant, assess every elected official based on their complete record in office, and demand accountability. The era of accepting token gestures in place of meaningful representation must come to an end.

As the house chairman committee on works, a juicy all important committee, even at the federal level, what Igbo Eze North citizens are expecting from the member representing Igbo Eze North constituency (11) as stewardship is complete and commissioned kilometers of roads not just (10) locally fabricated grinding machines.

Should house of assembly member's empowerment be reduced to grinding machines, what should be expected from councilors?.

Substituting the ample opportunities presented by the office of house committee on works with just (10) locally fabricated grinding machines, is like deceiving a child with biscuits.

Our people deserve better. Our future deserves better.

The Concerned Igbo-Eze North Youth (CINY) wishes to once again inform the general public that, on 10th March 2026, Mr. Solomon Chukwudi Onu (Udo-Oha) was officially disassociated from our organization following his decision to pursue partisan political interests, which are inconsistent with the core principles and constitutional provisions of CINY as a strictly non-political and non-partisan organization.

Our attention has been drawn to a public speech he delivered yesterday in which he introduced himself as the Convener of Concerned Igbo-Eze North Youth (CINY). We wish to state clearly and unequivocally that this claim is false, misleading, and unauthorized.

Mr. Solomon Chukwudi Onu no longer represents CINY in any capacity. He is not a member, not an official, and certainly not the Convener of this organization. Therefore, any statement made by him in the name of CINY should be completely disregarded by the public.

CINY will not allow any individual to exploit its name, reputation, or credibility for political gain or to create the false impression that the organization has taken sides in partisan affairs. Any attempt to drag CINY into political activities is a direct misrepresentation of our identity and an attack on the integrity we have built over the years.

We reaffirm our commitment to promoting good governance, youth development, community progress, and the collective interests of the people of Igbo-Eze North without political affiliation or bias.

While we respect the constitutional rights of every individual to participate in politics and to establish or belong to any lawful organization, we strongly warn against using the name, identity, or platform of CINY to advance personal or political ambitions.

CINY remains committed to its founding ideals and will never compromise its non-partisan status. We urge the public, stakeholders, and members of the media to rely only on statements issued through CINY’s officially recognized communication channels.

PRESS RELEASE

CINY Vindicated

The Concerned Igbo Eze North Youths (CINY) wishes to inform the good people of Igbo Eze North and the general public that recent developments regarding the Igogoro–Ikpamodo–Amachala–Okpo–Amaja Road Project have vindicated our earlier position on the status of the project.

On 18th June 2026, CINY publicly stated that, although construction activities had commenced on the road, the project had not yet received formal approval from the Enugu State Executive Council. Our position was based on the information available at the time and was intended solely to promote transparency and accountability in governance.

Following our publication, our position was challenged by the Honourable Member representing Igbo Eze North II State Constituency, Hon. Ejike Eze, who stated:

“I am disappointed in whoever is behind this CINY. This writeup is an evidence that you guys don’t mean well for Igbo-Eze North. The Governor even spoke about this project yesterday while addressing the people of the zone in Igbo-Eze South confirming that the road have started. I am sincerely disappointed in CINY.”

Yesterday, the Honourable Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Benjamin Osita Okoh, confirmed that the Enugu State Executive Council formally approved the construction of the Igogoro–Ikpamodo–Amachala–Okpo–Amaja Road during its meeting held over the weekend of July 18–19, 2026. This confirmation establishes that the formal Executive Council approval came after construction activities had already commenced, thereby affirming the position earlier presented by CINY.

It is important to acknowledge that Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, recognizing the urgency and strategic importance of the road, had already mobilized the contractor and flagged off construction in mid-June 2026 ahead of the formal Executive Council approval. This proactive approach demonstrates the administration’s commitment to improving infrastructure and enhancing connectivity within Igbo Eze North.

In light of this development, CINY expresses its sincere appreciation to His Excellency, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for his visionary leadership and proactive intervention in ensuring that work commenced promptly while maintaining a commitment to delivering a road that meets the highest quality standards.

We also extend our profound gratitude to Hon. Ejike Eze for his efforts, commitment, and contributions toward ensuring that the project secured the necessary approval and moved forward for the benefit of our people.

CINY remains committed to constructive engagement with government at all levels. Our mission has always been to promote transparency, monitor public projects, and advocate for sustainable development in Igbo Eze North. We will continue to commend government where progress is made and raise legitimate concerns whenever necessary, always in the collective interest of our people.

CINY IS WATCHING 👀👀👀

The Concerned Igbo Eze North Youths (CINY) wishes to bring to the attention of the good people of Igbo Eze North that work is currently ongoing on the Igogoro–Ipkamodo–Okpo–Amaja Road Project.

As part of our commitment to ensuring transparency, accountability, and quality project delivery across our local government, members of CINY visited the project site to assess the progress of the work.

At the time of our supervision, gutter construction was still within the boundaries of Igogoro. While we appreciate the progress made so far, we encourage the contractor to increase the pace of work by deploying more workers, equipment, and necessary resources to the site. This will help ensure timely completion without compromising the quality of the project.

CINY remains committed to monitoring government projects to ensure that every contract awarded for the benefit of our people is executed according to specification and completed within a reasonable timeframe.

We commend the effort made so far and urge all stakeholders to sustain the momentum. The people of Igbo Eze North deserve durable infrastructure that will stand the test of time and improve transportation, economic activities, and the overall well-being of our communities.

Our supervision will continue, and we will keep the public informed about the progress of this and other developmental projects across Igbo Eze North.

IGBO EZE NORTH, WHICH WAY?

There comes a time in the history of every community when silence is no longer enough and the people must sincerely ask themselves a difficult question:

Where are we going?

Today, that question stands before every son and daughter of Igbo Eze North:

IGBO EZE NORTH, WHICH WAY?

Which way to our communities where many roads continue to cry for urgent attention?

Which way to meaningful youth empowerment, job creation and genuine opportunities for our young people?

Which way to quality healthcare, functional public infrastructure and sustainable development?

Which way to security, unity, accountability and a better future for generations yet unborn?

And today, we must ask another serious question:

WHERE IS THE STATE HOUSING SCHEME IN IGBO EZE NORTH?

Since the creation of Enugu State, our people are still asking: Can anyone point to one State Government housing scheme established in Igbo Eze North Local Government Area?

If there is one, let it be named and shown to the people.

If there is none, then we must ask why.

Why should a Local Government Area with our population, communities and contributions to the growth of Enugu State continue to watch development from a distance?

Across developing urban centres, government housing schemes are not merely about buildings. They can encourage planned development, open new residential areas, attract investment, improve supporting infrastructure and create jobs.

Why has Igbo Eze North seemingly been left behind in this important area of development?

This is not a question of political party.

It is not a question of personal interest, friendship or hatred.

It is a question about our land, our people and our collective future.

For too long, political promises have filled the air during election periods. Our people clap. Our youths mobilise. Our mothers pray. Our fathers hope.

But after the celebrations, what becomes of those promises?

Where are the roads?

Where are the major housing developments?

Where are the industries?

Where are the sustainable employment opportunities for our youths?

Where are the projects capable of changing the economic story of our communities?

IGBO EZE NORTH DESERVES MORE.

We deserve good roads and sustainable infrastructure.

We deserve quality education and functional healthcare.

We deserve planned housing and meaningful urban development.

We deserve genuine youth empowerment and job creation—not endless promises that disappear after political campaigns.

We deserve security, peace and leadership built on accountability.

The youths must understand that the future of Igbo Eze North cannot be built through silence, fear or political division. We must learn to ask questions respectfully but fearlessly.

We must support what is right.

We must commend genuine development.

And we must speak against neglect wherever it exists.

Our voice should not be for sale.

Our future should not be negotiated for temporary political benefits.

Our communities must not remain forgotten.

Concerned Igbo Eze North Youths (CINY) believes in a better Igbo Eze North. We believe that progress is possible when the people unite, participate and demand accountability from those entrusted with public responsibility.

The question remains:

IGBO EZE NORTH, WHICH WAY?

The road of neglect, broken promises and underdevelopment?

CINY CONDEMNS ENUGU NORTH SENATORIAL BY-ELECTION, DEMANDS CANCELLATION AND FRESH POLL

The Concerned Igbo-Eze North Youth (CINY) strongly condemns the conduct of the Enugu North Senatorial By-Election held on June 20, 2026, describing the exercise as heavily compromised by violence, intimidation, vote buying, and widespread electoral irregularities.

The election was marred by disturbing incidents that undermined its credibility and called into question the integrity of the entire process. Reports from across the Senatorial District indicate that one person lost his life after being shot, while several others sustained injuries during election-related violence. No election is worth the blood of any citizen.

CINY is also in possession of numerous reports and evidence of alleged electoral malpractice, including voter intimidation, vote buying, and organized efforts to manipulate the outcome of the election. These actions are completely unacceptable in a democratic society and represent a direct assault on the will of the people.

Given the scale of the irregularities, violence, and loss of life recorded during the election, CINY rejects the credibility of the exercise and calls on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately cancel the Enugu North Senatorial By-Election and conduct a fresh, free, fair, and credible election that truly reflects the wishes of the electorate.

We further call on security agencies to thoroughly investigate all incidents of violence, especially the alleged kill!ng and injuries sustained by innocent citizens, and ensure that all those responsible are brought to justice.

Democracy can only thrive where the sanctity of the ballot is protected and where citizens are free to exercise their constitutional rights without fear, coercion, or violence. The people of Enugu North deserve a credible electoral process, not one overshadowed by bloodshed and allegations of widespread rigging.

CINY remains committed to the defense of democracy, justice, and the collective interests of the people of Igbo-Eze North and Enugu North Senatorial District.

CINY CALLS FOR PEACEFUL, FREE AND FAIR PARTICIPATION IN THE ENUGU NORTH SENATORIAL BY-ELECTION

The Concerned Igbo-Eze North Youth (CINY) wishes to urge all eligible voters across Enugu North Senatorial District to conduct themselves peacefully and responsibly as they participate in today’s senatorial bye-election.

Voting is not only a civic responsibility but also an opportunity for citizens to freely choose leaders who will represent their interests. We therefore encourage every voter to cast their vote according to their conscience, free from intimidation, inducement, or undue influence.

CINY strongly condemns vote-buying, voter intimidation, ballot manipulation, and every other form of electoral malpractice capable of undermining the credibility of the election. We call on political actors, their supporters, and all stakeholders to respect the electoral process and uphold the principles of democracy.

We also urge security agencies and election officials to remain professional, impartial, and committed to ensuring a peaceful, transparent, and credible exercise.
