IT WAS JESUS CHRIST THAT SENT MOSES TO RESCUE THE ISREALITES FROM THE LAND OF EGYPT.
How do we know someone? By the name they are called. What is the name God is known, the name he wanted the Isrealites to know Him with, the name He introduced Himself with to Moses?
Let's look at this bible verses;
EXODUS 3:13-15 (NIV)
Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?”
God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ”
God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘The LORD, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’ “This is my name forever, the name you shall call me from generation to generation.
Now let us look at
JOHN 13:19-20 (NIV)
“I am telling you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe that I AM WHO I AM.
Very truly I tell you, whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me; and whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me.”
Now here is something to observe in both bible passages; In Exodus 3:13-15 God was sending Moses to the Isrealites.
In John 13;19-20 Christ was talking about sending the Apostles to preach the gospel. There is a SENT similarity here and also there is something to note here in Exodus 3:15; God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘The LORD, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’ “This is my name forever, the name you shall call me from generation to generation.
This is God's (Christ's) name forever; I AM WHO I AM.
What does that name mean? It means someone who doesn't change, someone who was, is and will be. Someone whose existence is eternal.
Also while God was introducing Himself to Moses He made a significant remark in Exodus 6:2-3
God also said to Moses, “I am the LORD.
I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob as God Almighty, but by my name the LORD I did not make myself fully known to them.
I once told us a year ago or so that the reason why in the Old Testament God is also refered to as Lord is because of the person of Jesus Christ who must be recognized in the Trinity to complete the knowledge about God. The name The Lord which God did not introduce Himself with to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob He did reveal it to Moses. That is why Moses was more than a Prophet, God revealed all of Himself to Moses.
